It's completely pointless to argue about who sings this song best, since this is the version by Catherine o' Hara, so if you want to listen to something else, go to Amy Lee or Fiona Apple and listen to those instead.

Btw, in my own opinion the original remains the best, cuz even though amy or fiona sound more "pro" or whatever, they missed the character's personality. Sally is a quiet, softspoken ragdoll, how can you expect her voice to sound "sexy", "dark", "powerful"?That is not the point :/

I belive this song is beutiful and very inocent, something most people loose very young or never even have. I belive it signafys first love and Cathren makes me think of a child, sweet and inocent Amy lacks that inocence that is the most beutiful about this song.

Personally, I take them like three different songs... Catherine's version shows sweetness , Amy's version indicates pain and Fiona's cover shows dynamism..But and the three of them describe the desperation and the fear of a girl in love and her willing to express her feellings.. To me, there's no question. This is the best version. Amy Lee just overdid it, with all the fancy instruments in the background. But this is simple, clean, and vulnerable, just like it was meant to be.

I really don't like amy lee's cover... I, actually, don't even enjoy her singing. But I did think the Fiona Apple cover was good, not enough to be better than this. In my head this song was done to be sung by a soprano voice, and Catherine did it perfectly.

This is the voice for the movie as it should for it does work best. Sally is a child so-to-speak so this is how she should sound. Though covers such as that by Amy are more mature with more of a sadness in hearing are very nice...You can't leave the original good old akward sally ^^
