I am a huge DBZ fan. My son got me addicted back in the toonami days. 2009, I hearded they made a live action movie, I was doing time when it came out, I never saw a preview of it. When I got released, I had a fat ass steak dinner, then I went to the dollar theater to go see it. I was happy and excited not knowing what I got myself into. I left upset, disappointed, angry, depressed and for a minute, I thought I was watching some other kid show. I cant describe the words, what the hell.

It's funny how they made Goku a High School student. While in the manga/anime Goku was a country boy who never went to school and lacked intelligence. He also didn't show any intrest in Chi Chi let alone girls(unlike in the movie). He was also more intrested in training and fighting strong opponents. The movie did however gave me a good laugh.

Justin Chatwin admitted in interviews that he knew that fans would be disappointed in the film because it's different. He knew that they didn't get the hair right and he knew that the movie was too modern. He loved Dragonball as a kid. So he tried his best.

This movie apart from the existence of 7 dragon balls and the names of the characters has nothing to do with the actual Dragonball. I can understand that the live adaptation of the anime series is difficult, but this movie does not even try to look like the original – it just horribly changes everything.

Before the movie started i was like "ok it won't be something good but again is Dbz what can go wrong is like giving a kid the answers for a test and the damass still fails".Hell i could do it better with just my friends and after effect.The actors sucked ass, the characters (aka goku a nerd who wants to fuck chi chi) sucked and the kamehameha scene was like something from a Chakie chan movie that he put it in order to laugh.You know how many laughted that day???NONE!!!!!

It's funny how they made Goku a High School student. While in the manga/anime Goku was a country boy who never went to school and lacked intelligence. He also didn't show any intrest in Chi Chi let alone girls(unlike in the movie). He was also more intrested in training and fighting strong opponents. The movie did however gave me a good laugh.

reasons i hated this movie:
1. Piccolo looked like one of those evil boss monsters in Rita's lair in Power Rangers.
2. points for Chi Chi being hot, but shes supposed to be a bitch, not a nice girl.
3.Master Roshi was not bald and bearded, and his nose never bled over seeing something he thought was hot.
4. great ape looked like a monkey dancing "i got my banana right here" grabbing himself
5. Airbending? this isnt Avatar The last Airbender.
6. No Krillin
and more, that will surpass 500chars.

@thewheelman222 Same reason there was no Krillin. They were appealing to a generation of kids who wouldn't know a good show if it kicked them in the face. They made the movie the way it was so people who like shows such as Jersey Shore would enjoy it. Anyone who actually cared about authenticity abhored this movie. I admit though that my opinion is biased. I watched/read the anime/manga.

For those that complain about how this movie sucked, just remember, this movie was to introduce the characters to a new generation. Justin Chatwin admitted in interviews that he knew that fans would be disappointed in the film because it's different. He knew that they didn't get the hair right and he knew that the movie was too modern. He loved Dragonball as a kid. So he tried his best.

This movie apart from the existence of 7 dragon balls and the names of the characters has nothing to do with the actual Dragonball. I can understand that the live adaptation of the anime series is difficult, but this movie does not even try to look like the original – it just horribly changes everything.

@ESFAndy011 So just because it was made in Japan and mostly Asian people live there every character has to be Asian too? That's not very imaginative. Most of the characters in the show don't even look remotely Asian, plus Goku is an alien from space so why would he be Asian?

As for Goku, yeah, you're probably right. But if you make everyone else look asian because of the point I made, Goku would look ridiculously out of place if he wasn't asian as well.

I hope the director would come across this and read it, DB,DBZ,DBGT series are nothing like the movie. Every time someone wants to make a movie about an Asia animation, they put in white actors that look nothing like the real character. I mean yea some of the characters in dbz look white but really they should have used someone that is half Asian half white. This is the same story in Avatar the last air bender. Type in half asian and half white on Google; cuz they look more like the real deal!

Make a live dragon ball z movie with the andriods and cell. I dunno how they would be able to start it off there in order to appeal to people who arnt dragonball z fan but idc. This is a dragon ball movie, it should proably be like dragon ball...lol. You cant mainstream a classic. Watchmen was almost virtually identical and it did was better than dragon ball and i think there are alot more fans for dragonball as well. The movies gotta be 14a cause this is a violent series, anything else wouldsuc

@Voosh21 Goku doesn't seem white at all. His voice sounds white because you watched the English version. All dubbs sound like the people who are voicing it. Vegeta looks white and so does Bulma but Goku looks more Asian than white.

Someone try help me make a list of the bad things in the movie, so that we maybe can convince them to at least make a decent movie:
Mistakes:
-Goku dreaming about Chichi?
-Goku going to highschool?
-Goku thinking about dating and going to parties?
-Thinking his training is getting him nowhere?
In the manga, all he thinks about is training, eating and fighting :-S His whole purpose is to get stronger, not become a sissy :-S
This entire movie is a disgrace in the movie-world >:-(
