Hi Rick, I saw the show twice too, first in the Beacon theater in NY and in Caracas, Venezuela in '93, I met him and part of the group on a jazz bar after the concert on his last day of a 3 year tour (his own words, I had the oportunity to talk with him for a while and he is a very humble human being).

He listened to all types of guitarist..but picked up his fast fret fingering by playing the trumpet early in life.

No he didn't mate. He was really early on jazz, and got to perform with great players under age of 20. But i can promise you pat's music most likely will change your life, like it did for me. I come from metal background and have such label band also, though i play keys myself but anyway. Musically so awesome music.
