  • I imagine the controls must kind of suck. Gotta have a spinner! Breakout clones all suffer too with digital or even analog pads. :(

Hope some next gen machines come with spiners by default on their main pad.

  • I love tempest! I really want a remake for the wii!

  • I like the Jaguar version better than the PS1 & Saturn versions. I understand Namco has a controller for the PS1 that you turn in the middle. I still don't know what to think of Tempest 3000 on the Nuon, and I hate the advanced version on the Xbox 360

  • Yay! A PS! review from my old PS1 :D

    Awesome review Leaf! :)

  • This is probably my favorite game on the PS. I used to play this for hours. I agree that the D-pad kind of sucks for playing this game but I believe this game came out before the Dual Analog PS controller came out so there wouldn't be any support for it. I don't know if it would have helped either since the only real way to play Tempest is with a dial or paddle controller.

Except the fact that this game works wonderfully with the PS Mouse which is what I always used to play this game.

  • @Croooow111 I'll have to try to find a mouse. I didn't know the PS1 had a mouse. Thanks Croooow :)

  • I prefer the Jag version just for the music but this one does look a little bit better.

Doubt I'll ever get to have a go on Tempest 3000 >.>

  • I loved this game on the Jaguar! Sadly this version was released in 96, before the PS dual shock controller.

  • @starsoldier1 Ah that would explain the lack of analog control. Would have definitely helped.

  • I love this game, though I like Tempest 2000 on the Jag just a little more. The Jeff Minter effect always works for me.

I'm totally with you on the controls... that knob controller on the arcade was perfect.

    Great video :)

  • @SteveBenway The lighting effects are fantastic. Jeff Minter is a legend. He's made some of my favorite games. Love the camel and Llama games :)

  • Most excellent review for a most excellent game Jeremy! I might have to get the Sega Saturn version now lol.

  • @jboypacman Didn't know there was a Saturn version. You can't go wrong. I think you'll love it :)

  • @atarileaf Oh yeah and am sure i will buddy and i did enjoy the arcade original and the 2000 version the Jag too. : )

  • Great pick on the game Jeremy! This looks like a fun game to play! >_<

  • A great review. I love Tempest and I remember when this classic arcade game first burst on to the scene. This looks like a good version with some nice twists. I have played a few versions and have liked them all. The Vectrex had a good version of this also.

  • Any tempest is good. This one is better..... huh? Well you know what I mean! LOL

  • <<loves tempest, this looks to be a good version :o)

  • @RetroGamerVX Its awesomeness wrapped in chocolate :)

  • ohhhh wow, trippy! :D

Love the original Tempest but this looks to be a great update

    .."yes, yes, yes" lol :)

  • @thomas3120 Very trippy, I wonder how it would look with some special, ahem, chemical enhancements :)
