its funny I service most cell networks where I live. We still use a most locations, a USR3453C 56k courier modem for monitering and emergecy back door to the cell sites. The old copper line modems will be around for the unseeable future. You put one of these modems on each end or one location or the other and you know things will never stop talking to each other. If the phone line gets cut, as soon as its repaired they reconnect. Bullet proof!
I had at least 4 modems over time. Every one of them used Hayes commands. Not one of them was a Hayes. Poor guys...
