@anassgame the snes in europe uses a different lockout chip the usa/jap systems have the same lockout just physical differences and removing those tabs from an snes (usa version )cart slot would allow jap imports to work.It would require more hacking the super famicom to get snes games from usa to work on that system. the usa may have the ugly design but it seems like the ideal multi region system Usa/jap i mean.
are hong kong games in PAL?? Because at that time britain was ocupying hong kong? If the game is in japanese i guess that means its japanese not pal right so itd work?
removing the tabs in the SNES is much simpler and cheaper. Also if you wanted to play an import title that uses the SFX chip like Star Fox, you wouldnt be able to as the game genie isnt wired to the extra boards that connect to the SFX chip.
Luckily enough i had a PAL SNES so it was the same size/carts as a Super Famicom - though i needed a cart with 2 slots (jap game on top and pal game out the back of it like this symbol -| )
All you need is some needle nose pliers and two hands.
Put one finger in the slot user other hand with the help of needle nose pliers grab said tabs twist back and forth until the tab has broken off repeat with the other tab.
You mean the game genie...a game genie isnt an adaptor but you certainly used it as one xP and I cant pay for shipping and even if I could I dont have a Snes anymore or well I dont know if I do...we owned one but I dont know where we put it...we may have lost it and I just noticed on Ebay it seems as though that the Snes system is in high demand because everyone is selling theirs for ALOT..way more then I could ever afford...they are selling them with over 15 dollar shipping X_____X
@1Sandwitch1 yeah bro lol I sold almost all my games btw so I still have the adapter left over with both the 2 super famicom games you see here Im willing to sell through paypal for only $10 and $5 ship
It's even easier to just remove the two little plastic tabs inside the cart slot. Get a pair of pliers, snap snap, and your Super NES plays American AND Japanese games.
Or chisel and hammer. No fiddling with the finicky GG.

There is a UK PAL SNES console on sale on ebay that has been modded to play PAL and NTSC games.
Theres a picture on the listing showing Earthbound (and other games) being played on it with no adapters.
The console has got 2 switches, 1 for PAL/NTSC and 1 for 50hz/60hz.
You can play PAL games at 60hz.
Just search for 'SNES console PAL NTSC' on ebay and it should show up.
Looks awesome, you can also choose the color of the power light.
Check it out.

I tried this with Seiken Densetsu 3, it worked on my Retro Duo but it didn't work on my SNES
