can you imagine the record company terminated their contract with siouxie in 96... they were insane there is no other reason to terminate a record deal with siouxie... dosetn make any sense
when i was8 6 i was in private school, i saw some film crews changing the names of the streets with french names and near the coretto theere was the drum set and then guitar mics etc, i discovered later that siouxie filmed there the there no room for 2 of us in this town clip... it must have happen when i was in class cause i didnt sas here or the band but it was there
@7OLGA7 In the "authorised biography" of the band (which I highly recommend), Severin suggests that Siouxsie doesn't like the song because of the person who produced it and the experiences surrounding its production. I think it's pretty great, myself!
@scythrop I think a lot of bands have this same story. A super difficult producer really makes the band go nuts and hate the output from that time. Except all that pain makes a REALLY great song. Just ask Andy Partridge (XTC) about how he feels about Todd Rundgren. And yet, Skylarking IS XTC, at least to me.
A difficult birth does should not mean that you hate the child!
Apparently they detested Mike Thorne so much that they didn't want to include his production on the compilation. In the biography, he's the only one who gets more shit from Siouxsie than Robert Smith :-)
I have the JVC mix on my page if you want to hear it, I cant really tell much difference to be honest, but the sweetest chill version is very different.......
ive put tracks up from the remasters 2009 up for the fans to share enjoy.
It is my favorite banshee song...it makes me sad, but happy and I just love to hear it...it is like being in heaven for me...seeing them do it live was incredible...by far my favorite..then coal mind..
Apparantly, Souxise hates the producer on this one track so much she refuses to release the original version now The orginal version is, so far, on vinyl only. If you have a vinyl copy, and a good sound card with RCA/phono inputs, there are programs that can rip it just google "Ripping vinyl to mp3"
I know this is an old thread, so you may have found it already, but I just want to let you know that I digitized all of my 'unavailable-on-CD' vinyl. This version of this song was amongst them. I cleaned up the sound with a sound editing software, too. If you would like me to email you an MP3 of it, send me a private email with your direct address, and I'll do so.
Thanks for posting this video. I actually thought I was dreaming about a Siouxsie song that didn't exist. I searched everywhere and I couldn't get the title right until I tried my luck here. The only thing I remembered was the chorus and that was what I used.
Hi Scythrop!THAAANK you!!I did cry when I saw the video! Was looking for this song now for almost 20 years!Just had the melody and the colors on my mind and couldn't remember the lyrics nor the name.Superb Siouxie!
Beautiful... I've never seen this before. I've heard most of their albums but this is definitely one of the best songs I have heard in their catalogue! It would have been perfect as the second to last song on Tinderbox.
Siouxsie and her friends always shot themselves in the foot. I think this is one of their best songs, but in their biography they apparently hated the person they recorded this with so it never got quite the showing it deserved...
I guess that is fun because I am sort of rediscovering it now...
does anyone know where to get a download of siouxsie performing wheels on fire on TOTP? I only remmeber it faintly with a gold glittering cat suit and lots of hair.. would love to get hold of it as it was one of those youth carving images... rupeerupes@aol.com

I love Siouxsie's haircut during this time. It's so hot and 1920s looking, she needs to cut it like this again!

Why didn't Siouxsie like this song? I heard about it, but I'm suprised because, as for me, it's one of the best SATB songs!

apparently the record company told SATB that they were 'bloddy depressing' so in siouxie style they went for a completely ott performance!!!

JVC was the best guitarist in the Banshees since John McGeoch. The band did indeed go downhill after he left. Sad days. Tinderbox was their pinnacle.

Your only hope is if you find someone who ripped it off a vinyl record. I have the vinyl myself, but I dunno how to digitize it. bleh
