sounds like a mix between hey jude and me & bobby mcgee the lousy sound doesn't help any but jey maybe lennon should have got out of his cozy living for awhile and stopped doing "bed" music. i realize he was fighting Uncle Sam the time but i really don't think he gave a shit. problably left it up to his attorneys while he got high and ate veal writing songs in the Dakota.

he was lazy... 5 years. but the govt was unfair. he could have gone to new orleans or anywhere in states to get influences. maybe he had depression because of the govt

@mymusicdiscovery ... no Lennon took five years away from music so he could be with his family, his son sean had just been born and lennon took time off to help raise him. it had NOTHING to do with being lazy and after that Lennon put out the best album mady by any beatle.

@springsteen96 The BEST album of any Beatle? Really? John is my favorite (Beatle), but domestic life took the edge off his material. Songs on the Imagine album & Walls & Bridges are superior, in my opinion. Also, not having heard all the Beatle solo albums, I don't think John had the BEST of any. Probably Paul does (e.g. Band on the Run).

He did another version of this called 'Howling At The Moon' - same melody, different lyrics.
This is the version where he tracked another vocal and acoustic guitar onto his previous piano / vocal demo!

I have this record. It is a two record set entitled " John Lennon - Memories".
It is John singing a lot of rare unreleased versions of songs on it. I bought it at a used record shop years ago but I have been unable to find out any info about it.

This is a mix of two songs: Watching the Wheels and Grow Old With Me. This song was composed just after or late into his trip to Bermuda in the summer of 1980.
