Although I liked this movie, I thought the writers really ruined the Borg by giving them a queen. The best thing about the borg was that they had no individual leaders. Another mistake they made is giving the Borg the ability to travel through time. The only reason the borg failed is because the Enterprise was there to follow them. Now a borg ship in the delta quadrant can travel back in time and go assimilate earth in the past and there's no federation ship to follow them this time.

They're basically like zombies. Even on the show they found ways to individualize the Borg: Locutus, Hugh, Lore's rogue Borg.
As for why not go back in the Delta Q, they wouldn't have the Federation's technological distinctiveness that way. (Which begs the question, why go back at all?)

As for the movie, I think it would have been better if they some how brought Lore back and had him in control of the Borg rather than create the Borg Queen. I also thought it would be a cool idea if the writers made a movie where the crew traveled back in time and it turns out that Dr Soong created the borg somehow in the past and they turned against him and became what they are now.

The Borg are cybernetic organisms meaning they need to rely on the organic host they befell. Now a human body can only be that fast carrying all the cybernetic implants not forgetting that the whole body gets more stiff with all the altered muscle tissue. So yeah, they could move as fast as a human or maybe even faster, but that borg would shred itself to pieces as the implants tear the tissue of the host apart. Do you get the idea?
all of the different series could have had great movies made about them, there is so much room to move, the trick is to actually get good story writers, directors and artists instead of the useless crap pushers they normally get

Enterprise already stepped into the classic Super-Prequel hole enough times, trying to out-do and out-perform the previous series while still clinging to the thin veil of 'prequel' and not actually step too far over the line, and any movie about Enterprise would have been a needlessly over-the-top piece of crap awkwardly shoehorned into a canon that doesnt want or need it.

Well, look at the TNG series as a whole. 90% of all the shows were "Oh my god, X is happening, we have to stop X", which is typical for a series of that type, and of Star Trek in particular.
Now of course yes, they did explore deeper subjects. "THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!" is quite possibly the best line I've ever heard in a star trek episode of any series, and you just CANNOT beat Patrick Stewart.

The Borg are cybernetic organisms meaning they need to rely on the organic host they befell. Now a human body can only be that fast carrying all the cybernetic implants not forgetting that the whole body gets more stiff with all the altered muscle tissue. So yeah, they could move as fast as a human or maybe even faster, but that borg would shred itself to pieces as the implants tear the tissue of the host apart. Do you get the idea?

@Kefka44 I agree. It says a lot about the last three star trek series that not one of them was actually good enough to base a movie on. Hell, after they squeezed the last drop of milk out of TNG's withered and blackened udders, they went right back to Kirk & Crew. Didnt even give DS9 or *gag* ... voyager... a sniff. Dear god a Voyager movie would have been the deathknell of star trek.
Not to say TNG was great of course, it was still an endless charade of quantum-space-wedgies, but still...

@hughheggen Well DS:9 maybe, but not Voyager or Enterprise. Enterprise already stepped into the classic Super-Prequel hole enough times, trying to out-do and out-perform the previous series while still clinging to the thin veil of 'prequel' and not actually step too far over the line, and any movie about Enterprise would have been a needlessly over-the-top piece of crap awkwardly shoehorned into a canon that doesnt want or need it.
As for USS Reset Button, nuff said.

@Etimos I don't know what you mean by that. TNG was of course a great show that had the exploration of the human condition and depth and heart that makes trek in general great. That's why I dislike the new movie so much because it had none of that.

Well, look at the TNG series as a whole. 90% of all the shows were "Oh my god, X is happening, we have to stop X", which is typical for a series of that type, and of Star Trek in particular.
Now of course yes, they did explore deeper subjects. "THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!" is quite possibly the best line I've ever heard in a star trek episode of any series, and you just CANNOT beat Patrick Stewart.

@Draco1985m That's not really true though - the Borg don't see it as destruction, but exactly as phrased, assimilation. They only assimilate if they see a quality that they wish to obtain as part of the collective. If they wanted to annihilate a species, they wouldn't mention that their biological and technological distinctiveness would be added to their own...because it wouldn't...it would be annihilated. ;p
