Could someone please tell me why I would use this over Google Maps? I'm not trolling. I really would just like to know the benifits of one over the other.
Apparently it has been removed from the Market for various Brands and or Providers. I have a Sprint Samsung Transform, which could easily handle the app. Yet it is blocked to me. Not in market, and phone rejects the google download site.
Dissapointing, but I'm sure they will re-release it at some point when it's better supported with memory and speed and processing.
I wish they had just let users decide. I keep my phone clean and fast and live in a good 3G area, so it would have worked fine.
like it a lot except it needs to be able to have atleast some of it install on the SD card. I'm going to have to uninstall it from my Desire to free up space or root my phone to find a way to move it to SD.
@TheMichaelgod the xperia runs android 1.6 at the moment, google earth supports android 2.1 and above so at this time your phone is not compatible with the app but sony have said the xperia will be getting a software upgrade sometime soon
For some reason it has been removed from the android app store and google reference, but I guarantee you it is available for download. I have it installed on my HTC Desire and it works perfectly.
hey so i have a motorola droid v 2.01 and i went to the website at the end of the video and it said my phone was not supported and it never showed up in the app market, is it only available for android phones v 2.1 or higher (such as nexus one)?
Why all android products are not available on HTC magic?? It is the only android phone in my country, which was just launched last december, and I bought it because for google products, while I can't install any of them, either because "android market" isn't enabled on my phone, or the version isn't supported. I am very much disappointed & frustrated.
lol this guy is freaky. he's just reading n its so obvious.... y not pay a person who knows how to explain things or whatever. geeks are not always good in presenting things....
@killaa359 do you have the droid or the nexus one? I think you need android 2.0 or higher to run it and in theory the marketplace should hide apps that the developer didnt acept when you make a app you choose the target os such as 2.0+
But really guys who don't have 2.1 just use Google Maps, the only difference is the 3D globe you get to play with, just put maps in satellite view and have fun. Google Earth is so out dated that I don't even use it on my PC anymore, since maps does the same thing plus street view that works.
"Google earth is so outdated" ... or your knowledge of it is anyway. If I'm wrong, show me how to upload my GPS tracking data to maps, or go into 3D view with terrain to visualize mountains, or view Mars or the Moon, or .......
Yes because we really need to visualize Mars on our cell phones or look at a mountain on your phone just for fun.
There is no NEED for it on cell phones. Google maps can save route directories and locations for you, street view, compass mode, custom route builders.
If you don't care for my opinion you can gtfo. I didn't ask for your reply or for you to try and insult me. This was for people who don't have 2.1, go troll somewhere else, like on Mars. Idiot.
I'm the idiot? You're going off on me and apparently you can't even remember your own post. Guess I need to quote a bit more so you can realize how much a fool you appear now for being so hostile. "Google Earth is so out dated that I don't even use it on my PC anymore".
If you don't like hearing someones opinion in reply to yours, stop posting publicly on the Internet. I said nothing about NEEDING such features on our phones either. Hell, we don't even NEED Android. Damn hot-headed kids.....
hahaha! i loved that the captions weren't perfect, but still incredibly accurate. Google owns the world. I wish when I was born my parents had had Google Birth.
Doesn't work with my G1 phone. I guess that's what you get for trying to support google and going out and buying the first google android phone. I WILL REMEMBER THAT WHEN THE CHROME OS NETBOOKS COME OUT!
Do you mean ", like google maps." as in, you gave up on it just like you did on google maps or you gave up on google earth because you like google maps?

Solution if you cant find it: download applanet (applanet.net) .apk for your android phone, make sure unknown sources is checked and install the .apk
Then, in applanet, search "google earth" and download it. And there you are, google earth on your phone.

Cool to see GE on Android, but unfortunately they've left out the most important feature of them all - the ability to make your own placemarks...
A complete show-stopper, that for me changes GE from a super-handy tool to a not-so-usefull gimmick!
