  • umm... It says part 1of 2. Is there another part on its way?

  • @kraize4step Check out E13 - Draping 101 :: Trueing Front/Back Bodice Part 2 of 2

  • I really want to have a collapsible mannequin but thats to expensive for me its like $200 or more, but for heavy duty sewing machines I really recommend Juki and for portable ones I can recommend Brothers ,for edger Pegasus.

Pandemic Apparel do u have somewhat like an e-book of patterns? I really wanted to learn how to make a wedding gown, and long gowns. Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us, more power

  • @redashes102184 I've been thinking about making an e-book or a DVD. As for the wedding gown you are talking about some advanced sewing and patternmaking. What's your deadline?

  • @PandemicApparel ahm theres no deadline as of today, I just wanted to know how to do it exactly, I'm also a graduate of Fashion Design here in Manila but we are more of the flat patterns rather than draping, so I wonder if there is any way you can teach us how

  • Great instructional video! one of the best I've seen here. Keep up the great work!

  • Thank you for these videos. Very informative to a novice.

  • i'm looking to buy a decent dressform w/o breaking my bank. I have @ 500 dollars for both a sewing machine and dressform.

    any suggestions?

  • @cosmosman Your question was kind of vague … I'm going to assume that you mean you want a professional dressform (cage at the bottom, collapsible shoulder, etc.) and NOT a Mannequin. I've seen them on ebay for around $200. As for the sewing machine that all depends on how much you are going to use it. I use mine on average 14 hours a day, a home sewing machine could NOT put up with that kind of abuse. I purchased my industrial sewing machine for $600, new. Also try craigslist.

  • @PandemicApparel your answer was exactly what i was looking for. Any dressform brands you prefer?

Do you have any sewing machine brands i should look at? I'm pretty confused as to what is the best or best model for a first time owner...i've read bad reviews on Singer...and read some mixed reviews on Janome and huqsvarna

    so many brands lol.

i'm looking to buy used seeing as this will be my first personal machine.

  • @cosmosman The dressform brand is up to you, because they come in a variety of sizes. I picked a dressform that had my measurements, or close enough. They are all built the same; if you are looking to buy via a brand name, you will end up spending well over $600.

I'm not a fan of the home sewing machine, that might be because I had to buy one every other year or so. They just seem more trouble than they are worth. I had a singer ... I would dream of murdering it; same with the white.

  • @PandemicApparel thank you for all the info...super helpful.

  • @cosmosman singer is actually a gud brand.. try Brother brand

  • this is great, better than the draping old fashioned video the teacher showed at school maybe she should be showing yours.....do teachers ever think of using YOUTUBE....with all these old fashioned videos they use to show students still..

love it, cant wait to get my form also...

  • What an amazingly helpful video; so easy to understand and eloquent, too! I see you have a ton of useful episodes on your website. I can't wait to check them out. I hope to have a dress form soon so I can actually begin to apply what you are so generously teaching.

    Thanks.

  • LOVE the videos!! Your markings are always so neat! Thank you for sharing!

  • I ahve a question. (Back bodice) Should the grain of garment be straight at the side under the arm or will it sway up at the side seam. My fabric is smooth and straight at the shoulder blade level but under the arm plate the grain sways up at angle at the side. What am I doing wrong?

  • @gradusm No, the grain line will not be straight at the side seam. The only point that should be straight is at Center Front & Center Back.

  • Hello!

It is good to see you trying to pass on such useful information.

The real skills are very nearly lost, since the industry was allowed to go to off shore, low wage countries. This has been made worse by trying to push computers as the answer to modern industrial needs.

Computers are not the way forward : these skills that you are showing are the best way to create new designs.

Very best wishes from John Fox in London, UK.

  • Fanastic video!!!

  • If only i had a dress form then I could do this myself! I sued to have one made of duct tape but it was too flimsy!

  • @Missgary92 Thank you for your comment. Yes, I graduated from FIDM with an AA in Fashion Design. Check out this same video on my website pandemicapparel com I have a book review at the very end.

  • The video was excellent - it was right on point!

  • Now you're talkin', girlfriend! Your're awesome. Love these kinds of technical lessons. Keep 'em comin'!
