  • Do Mechanics even know what the heck their doing? We have new cars now that are more advanced. Rather take your car to the Factory Mechanic than to an aftermarket mechanic. New bolts are being used. Electronic Computer Systems can malfunction.

  • + additional care should be taken when removing battery from car with alarm system

  • I see you (or at least I get the impression you do) touch the + and - sides at the same time. Isn't it dangerous? Why don't you get shocked?

  • @Talammm

car battery is 12V , human body from one hand to another is approx 1kOhm

so the current isn't any dangerous

but it is a way different story if you will shortcut battery with any metal tool with low resistance

usual car battery can easily give 100A output and melt your tool or part of a car =)

  • Great video. I've been looking for a battery change video where the battery is secured with a hold down clamp rather than with j-hooks. My car didn't have the j-hook bracket so I thought I would have to buy one. Turns out it did have a hold down clamp.

  • Spray that thing. Then clean it with water. And brush if off while the water is still there o_O WTF ...a good way to deal with corrosion... NOT. Also... pouring water on battery and electrical devices :/ rrrrrrrrrigh

  • That's not corroded! You should see the battery on my 97 Odyssey, now THATS corroded, looks like fucking cauliflower death!

  • ok... so, is it just me or are these words covering up the entire video? Kinda defeats the purpose :/

  • That's a horrible lifting form. You want to bend at the knees and keep your back streight.

    Just saying.

  • but can you get shocked by your new battery???

  • great video

  • cool thanks for the tip

  • Thanks for the help!

  • Pouring water on a battery terminal. OOOOOOKKKKKAAAAAAYYYYYY!

  • yep.

  • very nice video and that dude on the video need to work out more. I wanna see him live long : D

  • Good basic how to video. Thos eterminals are the worst to have. The corrosin will be back in no time. Great how to change job though.

  • good technique in removing .> >

  • coke works too.

  • So, what you are saying is that one connects the red first and red is the positive which is insulated...rite?

Then, the negative which is thinner...rite? What happens if I get it wrong? It is like the man that boasted of running his truck on battery and not gas...it exploded. Hmmm? My mom took a mechanics course at the age of 62 which is what I am now. Now, I know why.

  • Thanks!

  • the important part is:

when disconnecting the old battery, remove the grounded post first.

when connecting the new one: connect the un-grounded post first.

he mentioned this but did not explain it enough.

  • Car care for dummies! I have no clue about how to change it. I have to say that it was very helpful. I´ll try it tomorrow, (chemical cleaner or coke, whatever) My car is plain dead now. Thank you very much for the video

  • The spray cleaner didn't do nearly as much to clean the terminals as the wire brush! I always use battery terminal cleaning tool and wire brush! Never have wasted my $ on chemical cleaners! Aside from that I liked the video & Thank you! :)

  • hah
