  • Wow, I forgot how amazing Taylor's lyrics were, what a genius. I used to stay up late at the folks' house to watch these vids on TBN's video countdown with Paul Crouch Jr. this was the golden era of CCM, it has not been surpassed.

  • @simfaithguitar they are back lol

  • OMG it's Blair :)

  • Dave Thrush will be doing a LIVE interview on Ethan Tudor W's "The Neverhood Show" at Blog Talk Radio, Monday Oct. 25th at 10am (PST). Dave will be on to talk about his days touring with Christian Superstar "Steve Taylor", and will be taking LIVE call in questions from the fans. It's at The Neverhood Show, at Blog Talk Radio Dot Com, The LIVE call in number is 1-347-324-3691. Dave Thrush was the Sax Player with "Steve Taylor & Some Band" for MOST of Steve's touring career.

  • Genius songwriter. Wish there were more like him today.

  • Know where did this hit on the Charts? i heard this did hit the non-Christian Charts and was played on MTV back in the 80's im not sure if this is true or not...But where was Steve Taylors big songs on the charts back then?

  • Brings back such great memories of being truly "on fire" for the Lord(excuse the pun). Thanks for putting this on here.

  • I absolutely love this - thanks for sharing - i saw Steve back in the 80's. Priceless.

  • You have to consider the times; this clown was brilliant, this song just happens to be about "judgment day" in particularly for the rich, the powerful, and famous. he's pointing out that no matter how powerful, rich, or famous you may be there is a judgment a coming, and all your money power and influence won't be able to help you then because God is no respecter of persons

  • Doesn't take long reading comments to understand why the Word is a mystery to the world.

  • You must think very highly of yourself

  • As believers the Word says we are adopted children of the God..so one should feel humble I guess...but at peace with a knowledge that many do not want, or ever find.

  • I have no idea who that blond guitarist is/was. I have no memory of him being in Taylor's backing group, "Some Band". Was he just an actor hired for the video?

  • HIs name is Kerry Conner. Up until just recently he was the Worship Pastor at Crossroads Church of Denver. He is now the Worship Pastor at Lookout Mountain Community Church. The keyboard player is Jim Waddell.

  • Actually this songs rocks !

Only Steve Taylor could turn burning in Hell into a party.

The song and video is intended as a warning, burning in Hell really is not all that much fun.

  • I stumbled across part of a Facts of Life episode featuring Blair working as a reporter (maybe as an intern). I wonder if the writers of that episode saw this video.

  • Kinda funny. Good song

  • good, bad, there they go, down the same drain... lol :-D

  • I hear it also flavord.

He is good christian musician.Completely different from the rest.I have seen 3 times in concert. I can also do a good mimic of his song lifeboat.

  • You can soooo totally listen to Steve Taylor now, and it really doesn't sound 80's.

  • Does anyone else hear Madadam Tussaud's" ? I can't get away from an extra syllable there.

  • Nope

  • My mom played this as a kid and I never really got it but when I listen to it now I see the message. :D

  • This was one song that my mom always played too, and now I get it!

    lol :)

  • pointedgrace,

Arrgh, am I that old? I was 12 when this album came out. I had to have a friend dub it because my ultra religious parents would not let me listen to it because it was too edgy, even though it was labled "christian".

  • I heard this song on the Calvary Radio network (Calvary Chapel) Saturday...on the KIDS block (apparently they've been mixing 80's Christian music in with the usual kids playlists. I've also heard "Crack the Sky" by Mylon and Broken Heart, as well as "Child's Love (?)" by Bryan Duncan and a couple of mid-1980s Phil Driscoll)

  • Did he get into any legal trouble by using The Madame Tussaud's name? Their museum locations are everywhere now, and I'm pretty sure their sprinkler systems are more than adequate!

  • This is a metaphor. He's not literally saying that Madame Tussaud's would have a meltdown! (And besides ... the sprinklers would only come on if there was a fire).

  • THis song is my favorite Steve Taylor song. I am playing his old tapes .I lost the Meltdown one , and Meltdown song is on another tape and you tube has this video.I might still own this video on VHS.

  • When I heard that dude in Germany ripped the head off Hitler at that new wax museum, this song immediately came to rememberance.

  • i love this song!!!

  • OMG, it's Blair Warner as a newscaster, LOL! ;-)

  • He speaks the TRUTH in Love, but with tongue placed firmly in his cheek.

  • This was probably the first Christian music video I ever saw and it ruined me. The bar was set and rarely if ever even matched. I've been a big fan since I first heard "I want to be a clone", and have marveled at his creativity and especially his gift of hitting you right between the eyes with the truth while making you thankful that he did. He was able to say things that no one else could or would, but that desperately needed said. What a gift and WHAT CREATIVE TALENT.

  • And the message is:

    - Your body will die. It will disappear like melted wax, and there will be nothing left but your soul.

Fame, wealth, power...it's all ephemeral. Here today and gone tomorrow.

  • I think you just insulted me, hopefully I can detect a 2x4

  • He shot this in Denver (where he is from) with Lisa Welchel. That same weekend he and Lisa did a youth event at my church. Love this and all Steve Taylor songs! Deep meaning in his songs.

  • i agee here all u people who say its horrible even for 80s u have no taste in good music! steve taylor is a freakin genious! this is actually my fav song out of all his songs!

  • steve Camp is awsome too ! Like Fire and Ice by Steve Camp!

  • As hot as halipanose! LOL!

  • as hot as halipanios! LOL!

  • I had forgotten just how genius this guy was! Incredible, and waaaay ahead of his time. We miss you, Steve!

  • I still love steve's music. He was way ahead of his time and an absolute genius.

That and he has the sublty of an a-bomd.

  • Steve actually dated her for awhile, before he met Debbie. It took me awhile to like Steve. I recognized both his literate style and an ability to write strong melodies on occasion, but never liked the forced New-wave style. Chagall Guevara took care of that.

  • this is so awesome!!! does anyone have the video of he and sheila walsh doing 'not gonna fall away' from the limelight release?

  • Is there anybody around the Christian music scene that's anywhere near as awesome as Steve?

  • not sure there is such a person...

  • Somebody was on a sugar high.

  • Steve is so awesome. But, does anyone else think he looks like Peter Weller?

  • Great video. I've enjoyed his music since the mid '80's.

  • steve is so brilliant.

  • After all this time, I just now thought to look for this. I was THERE! He shot this in Thousand Oaks soon after the release of the album. He asked for a crowd of about 15-23 to come to the stage, and they shot the crowd portions. We got all excited that you could see the back of the head of a kid from our church. We were easy to impress...

  • lol

  • "...The Queen is losing face". LOL!

  • This video was a classic from my childhood! It is great seeing it once again. I forgot how wacky it is.

  • I saw Steve Taylor live in concert for the "Meltdown" tour. The theatre was packed, and one of the funnest shows ever. He was a youth pastor in his church for 5 years before getting into the music thing, and I highly respect him. I especially like his "no holds barred" approach in his song lyrics, and the Meltdown album is probably my favorite Christian album ever.

He rocks for the Rock !!

  • I think Steve was trying to look dorky. I don't remember when that wouldn't have looked dorky!

  • Do you think he looks goofy because of his completely 80's outfit? I think most of those things we wore back then are pretty goofy... But I love this song! I had a band back then (The New Men) and we played this song...fantastic.

  • Great Vid! Haven't seen it for years! Anyone recognize Lisa Whelchel as the news anchor (AKA Blair from 'Facts of Life')?

  • I remembered reading she was in the video on Wikipedia, but wasn't sure where.

I also remembered reading somewhere that Taylor wrote the song "Good Girl" for Whelchel's album that came out later that year ('84). Is that correct?

  • gotta love Steve Taylor and Some Band! This video was shot in Denver.

  • LOL, love the keyboard player. what a hoot!

  • Steve Taylor had some of the most brilliant lyrics I have ever heard and I'm still a huge fan to this day. Unfortunately, and I say this with the utmost respect for his talent and service to the Lord, but he has to be the dorkiest musician of all time. Sorry Steve!!

  • So very 80's and so very fun!

  • I wonder what was on his mind when he wrote this song?

  • The song makes alot more sense now.
