hate it when things like this happened. I am glad to know that your son is ok. That guy knew BB gun is considered as a weapon. Your decision is going to affect your family and neighbors/children. For the sake of their safety, do not drop the charge. Bring him to court. 6 years? I doubt.. Maybe 3 years depending on his best behavior. (SMH)

Do NOT listen to A1SteakSauceLover's advice to drop the chages. This is not the first time he's done this. He is one of the WORST Christians I've ever seen. Do NOT drop the charges!!!!! Think about all of the children's (and adults, too) safety first and make that man LEARN his lesson! Good luck & keep up posted.
