there were 3 more episodes that followed the initial 3, anyone know how get them? were they even released on dvd? seem like they were only broadcast once and that was it.
I've only watched the Leslie Howard vesion before this series release. I read book and watched the Leslie Howard movie at same time which was almost word for word. It's why his will always be my favorite. That being said I adore Richard Grant! I think he's perfect as Sir Percy even if they've taken liberties with the scripts. I think it's unfair that they've taken 2-2 hours movie from the miniseries and turned it into a 1:30 hour movie. You miss so much! Tony's part was so much bigger beforeDVD
I've never understood why they never 'knocked off' he heads of the opposition and stopped the killing in it's tracks...but then we wouldn't have a good story..
I love both the Andrews version and this one--I think the depiction of the aristocracy as well as the "underground" where the actors play is much better in this version, but I hate that they removed the penchant for disguise from the Pimpernel. That said, I love both Percies, though Andrews makes a foppier fop. :-)
@wincipoet aha you have caught onto one of our dear Baroness' mishaps. you see, she changes things around from book to book. in The Scarlet Pimpernel, Armand is older then Marguerite but in El Dorado, he is younger. Margot's hair color is also wont to change and we only ever hear about maybe 8 of the 20 member league. but we still love it. haha
interesting. the League seems to almost have a "uniform" of sorts in this version. i should think that would make it easier for Robespierre and his flunkies to spot them, but whatever :D certainly still willing to give this a chance
sorry, gotta disagree. don't get me wrong Leslie Howard was phenominal, but the 1982 version with Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour has got to be the best because Anthony is equally phenominal and the rest of the cast is just better, compare for instance Andrew Ffoulkes.

I believe the best version of this story is the 1934 movie. But I love them all!

Leslie Howard was fantastic in the 1934 version! Though I am interested in how the BBC portrayed this story.

Richard E. Grant is wonderful as well in this version though some may disagree with me.
PS wish there was some way to obtain S2 in the States.
