"Not Fade Away" has a BIG Bo Diddley influence. The rhythm was popularized in his song "Bo Diddley" back in 1955. Not bad considering most of the musicians from this time played blues and country licks!
I actually saw Buddy Holly and The Crickets LIVE at the Davis Theatre, Croydon, UK whilst on their one and only tour of the UK. Fantastic! Unbelievable! Brilliant!.
Buddy was one of a kind, just a dirty shame he was taken so early, thank God the Stones, who covered this song, and Blind Faith, who did "Well All Right" helped carry on Buddy's music into the 60's
Too bad wishing bad things on people didn't actually work!....crusader....Didn't your mother, if you had one, tell you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything...Why do you feel the need to post negatives? I bet the bands you listen to would be happy to say that they use BH as an Idol....they respect what he did, he was the beginning of what you listen to.....
I love u bigger than a cadillac :D
Thats cool!

Sad, sad- Buddy Holly's wife had a miscarriage right after he died. I love this guy and his music- he'll never "fade away".

so ahead of his time, still one of the best songs ever.
RedsoxFan20042007 1 month ago
this was the last song he played before he died... is that irony?
DARhumpedyhump 1 month ago
@DARhumpedyhump Not really, most of his songs, if he finished on them, could be taken as irony in the same way.
