I'm a christian and I pretty much agree with everything he says. If gay people want to get married, then so be it. They're no threat to me. It's not something that I would teach my kids if I ever had any. Same with drugs. If people want to be stupid and put that crap in there system then be stupid. The reason why people turn to drugs and prostitution is not because they are criminals by nature, it is simply because they are sick. These people need a form of comfort that they were robbed from in their lives. If the government arrests a user and takes down a dealer than it is not helping anything. Has this guy actually thought about the real world consequences of his suggestions? I doubt it. Instead, he's in love with the theoretical purity of them. Personally, I'm in favour of decriminalizing drug use but to leave it to states doesn't help because you'd create a crazy patchwork mess of criminal and non-criminal activity across the country.
Instead of coming from Canada or Mexico, we'd have people 'smuggling' marijuana across state lines with all the crazy police enforcement issues and border patrolling that would follow from that. When he speaks of Government its Federal Government, State Government is seperate because that is how it is in the constitution. You can think of each state as its own country and those countries banded together to make a larger force to help defend itself.

But for some reason America doesn't get to hear about Ron Paul's views. When the media does cover him, it's always "horse race" articles about his fundraising or straw polls. Never just descriptive or biographical pieces that talk about who he is and the platform he's running on.

@muphart Actually, yes, he would have the authority. Executive orders do not require approval or consent of congress. The president, by himself, can disolve the EPA, the FDA, FEMA, the DOE, you name it. Virtually any gov't agency is subject to executive order first and almost all of them were created by executive order. In the Oval Office, the pen is mightier than the sword.
Ron Paul is great but he never states what he will actually do if elected president. He only says how the government should be, but he needs to talk about what he would do based on the structure of the current government, rather than just hypotheticals. Any president needs to deal with the current government, however shitty, not just talk about some ideal situation. If he were actually president there's no way he could make the changes he wants to make. Wouldn't have the authority.

The reason why people turn to drugs and prostitution is not because they are criminals by nature, it is simply because they are sick. These people need a form of comfort that they were robbed from in their lives. If the government arrests a user and takes down a dealer than it is not helping anything. You can swat the fly, but unless you close the open window, nothing is stopping them from returning. Social inequity is the problem, not drugs and their availability.

Has this guy actually thought about the real world consequences of his suggestions? I doubt it. Instead, he's in love with the theoretical purity of them. Personally, I'm in favour of decriminalizing drug use but to leave it to states doesn't help because you'd create a crazy patchwork mess of criminal and non-criminal activity across the country.

But for some reason America doesn't get to hear about Ron Paul's views. When the media does cover him, it's always "horse race" articles about his fundraising or straw polls. Private interests and money are the two gods here on earth. Both are more powerful then presidents, prime ministers, popes, queens and kings. They are also the shadows that place the puppets for all to see, fully knowing once that game is over and those puppets are destroyed, out of the toybox comes a whole different type of puppet. One that will "change " the mess there brothers created. But as time passes, you realize these puppets are the same as the ones before...just painted different.

I like Dr. Paul's anti-war views. Marine General Smedley Butler said the only legitimate use of the US military is protecting the borders and defending the Bill of Rights. I disagree with his Objectivist views. He seems to be a big fan of AYN RAND whose views ONLY worked in her fiction where she is god and can predetermine the outcome. In the end, Ayn Rand, got Social Security and Medicare which she spent a life time opposing.

@muphart Actually, yes, he would have the authority. Executive orders do not require approval or consent of congress. The president, by himself, can disolve the EPA, the FDA, FEMA, the DOE, you name it. Virtually any gov't agency is subject to executive order first and almost all of them were created by executive order. In the Oval Office, the pen is mightier than the sword.

Ron Paul is great but he never states what he will actually do if elected president. He only says how the government should be, but he needs to talk about what he would do based on the structure of the current government, rather than just hypotheticals. Any president needs to deal with the current government, however shitty, not just talk about some ideal situation. If he were actually president there's no way he could make the changes he wants to make. Wouldn't have the authority.

I agree with the way he thinks. This BS government should not dictate what a person does with there own body. they should not imprison you or treat you like a criminal simply because you choose to do drugs or prostitute etc. that's why jails and prisons are so over crowded. If a person decides to harm themselves in that method then that's on them. Its not affecting anyone else. i would vote for this guy.

Please do. Prior to hearing Ron Paul's message I was of the belief that these seniors in Washington were simply too far removed for any degree of reality to ever make truly beneficial decisions towards the nature of our society. I was and still am disillusioned at the beauty pageant that is the presidential election race.
I will be voting for the first time since becoming eligible this coming year, for Ron Paul. I we have a hope, its in him.
