  • The town I grew up in had a whole fleet of these Loadstars. Dumps, flatbeds, and most of the school buses were Loadstars. You have some of interesting machinery but I keep coming back to this truck for some reason.

  • What does the truck weigh empty?

  • You mentioned the truck was geared fairly high I was wondering what ratios are in the 2-speed rear end.

  • What speed were you pulling that hill at? It didn't look like your speedometer was hooked up.

  • @forgetdogs not for sure that speedometer hasnt worked in as long as I can remember

  • Hey good video showing how to split shift. I think my 74' Loadstar has the same transmission shift pattern as yours, but I am not sure if I'm doing it right or not. This is a good video. I have been starting in low on mine and splitting up into high from low 4. So from low 5 to 4 high, then 5 high? Check out my videos with my truck if you get a chance and you can tell me if I have it all wrong! Thanks.

  • piece of shit!!

  • what is that a old 345?

  • sounds pretty good

  • I gotta say, im only 15 but i love your choice of music...it reminds me of back when i used to ride with my dad when he still was farming in Southern IL. also, so far i really enjoy your videos.

  • That old 73 Internatinal runs pretty good

  • haha awsome cars and trucks man. but how do you see outta that windshield???

  • @omgbbqcia911 With 2 good eyes I'm guessing.

  • pumpin the shit out of it!

  • that truck needs a new wind shield.

  • is it true when you hold it down to the floor it shuts the fule off

  • @460fordtruckman nope but it does open up the butterflys and introduce more air to help "unflood" it

  • the real high low button makes that look easy whats the biggest load u have had on it i run a short bed 73 ih dump truck and i think i been overloading mine some

  • @amc74scout Ive only had about 18000 on it but dad claims to have hauled as much as 24k when we were farming years ago

  • shweet truck, haha i didnt reilize that you had vids of her, she's really nice

  • Hey, nice video. I love old trucks and buses and appreciate the videos people make about them. I have a question for you about the brakes on the truck. I see that there is a vacuum gage next to the ignition key, does it have a fully vacuum brake system or is it a vacuum assist hydraulic system? If it is fully vacuum system does it pull its vacuum off the manifold or does it have a belt driven pump? Just curious, keep the videos coming. Thanks.

  • @Montell305 it is a vacuum assist system but it runs off the manifold just like a regular car, good to hear you like the video

  • pump that pile of shit

  • Do you need a CDL to drive this or just a regular license?

  • nope just a regular

  • you need a CDL for air brakes

  • Did the Internationals of that year use a gear reduction or a direct drive starter? Yours sounds kind of like it has a gear reduction starter when it is cranking. But that's just me.

  • pretty sure its just a regular direct drive

  • my grampas 1983 international 1854 parts truck has the same engine. its been sitting outside with no hood or aircleaner cover since around 2001. i would try to crank the engine over and get the thing running again but im afraid if it might be froze up lol

  • i could of bought one of those for $250 not as good of shape as yours but i kick myself in the ass that i didnt.

  • "i got a hot chick sittin next to me" haha, gotta love it

  • what engine is that? 392?

  • nope thats a built 345

  • cuz ur hot then ur cold haa that my driving song wayne !!!

  • nice window

  • Great video Wayner!

  • Good video Wayne! I enjoy watching every one of your clips. I was shifting that ol truck with ya in my head buddy!

  • Cool clip. Yor're good at explaining & demonstrating the shifting pattern. I've watched quite a few of these clips, but most don't explain what they're doing while they shift.

  • Nice video, brings back memories of the '66 Loadstar 1600 I used to drive - I can remember splitting when going up this bridge with a full load of feed to go to the local race track. Those old IH's were tough as they come. Thanks for sharing!

  • What temp does the motor run at whe she's fully warmed up?

  • usually about 160

  • your going to burn out the starter if you keep cranking that long

  • no most likely Im not since I crank it like that on a regular basis and the starter has been just fine for quite some time now

  • Have you ever killed the battery or burned up a starter motor trying to start the truck?

  • nope not on any of our vehicles in fact... most of our starters last 5-6 years and the batterys 3-4

  • gotta head into town and get it fixed so I can drive it out once I get done with the field work... plus now its snowing here so that just sets me back some more... stay tuned and Ill be sure to keep you updated

  • good shifting, tricky though

  • thanks... yeah once you get used to the shifting pattern it isnt too bad but it can really mess with a guy the first time out

  • Dang Wayne; what the heck happened to the windshield on this truck? its all cracked and shit!!! Ever think of replacing it? or just say the hell with it and leave it till it totally cracks??

  • waiting till it falls out lol just kidding Ive got one in at hedahls just havent had time to pick it up and get it in yet

  • Well, it certainly looks like that ole international holds its own when it comes to carrying loads and whatnot, etc.. Cool video Wayne!!! :)

  • yeah it seems to do the job... run er till she pukes lol

  • What is the top speed on that with a full load

  • itll do 75-80 with a full load on a flat

  • Awesome, ours is really high geared too, it will do about 90, the old 440 is still running strong

  • I run an old '69 1800 loadstar at work and its geared way low. at 60, which is about as fast as it will go she crankin 3100 RPM. i'm pretty sure its only got a 345 in it to so with 300 bushel of corn in back you're doing good to get 45mph, and theres about no flat land round here either.

  • ahhh man you gotta build that old binder up those 345's are an awesome motor to build if you got the time and money

  • Well its not my truck so i'm not going to build it up, but some day i would like to get one of those and do a complete restoration. I donno i've always liked the fiberglass hood from the outside, but from the drivers seat the steel gull wing hood is just a classic. Dang now i'm missing the days of haulin' corn late into the night with the amber glow of the cab lights shinin' on the hood and when i had a girl to ride in the middle with me, sigh, the good ol day's.

  • yeah they are a pretty awesome old truck and I would have to agree those old side flip hoods were pretty cool although it made it hard as hell to work on anything under the hood... now your reminding me of alot of good memories... might have to get a night shot of driving the truck with the clearance lights glowing off the hood

  • Yeah you dont get the whole cab lights on the hood on a new truck, ill have to post some vids of that old 1800 some time, its white too. What engine you got in that one?

  • that truck has got a homebuilt 345 under the hood

  • what is the top end speed highway of your truck?

  • it will do 75-80 with a load on, on a flat

  • sweet i had a 1974 scout II with the 345 v8 and also a 1973 international 200 pick up truck with the 345 both were amazing i wish i hadn't sold either one of them but sometime you have to do thing you dont want to do.

  • yeah there will always be the one that got away when it comes to vehicles... lord knows Ive had my share

  • oh well lets here some of the stories of your long lost vehicles =]

  • can do that, will have to wait for a night when were in the shop drinking and telling old car stories... definitely would like to do that video though

  • sweet

  • nice windshield lol

  • yeah Ill fix that one of these days

  • u got to have a class b to drive that

  • nope

  • what motor does it have in it ?

  • its got a built 345

  • driving a working 5th truck is fun. my uncles got a old plow truck with a working 5th. and you can put that thing in 2nd low and it will walk right through big ass snow drifts

  • yeah theyre pretty nice... absolutely awesome for pulling a load up hills too

  • would that be the same on my 55 international dumptruck 4 speed becuase it has the hihg low split as well never use the high cuase its just a farm truck

  • ware is it leaking from thought you just rebuilt it

  • rear main the clutch scattered shortly after the rebuild and I think thats why

  • well as long as it holds oil so you can do what you need to with the truck thats not to bad.

  • sure... next time I run it Ill do that

  • I second that notion, and please wear your workboots!

  • Very cool.... 5*

  • Are you allowed to drive that truck on the road with so many cracks in the window? I had one crack in the front window of my van of about 30cm's and I had two weeks time to get it replaced or i wasn't allowed to drive on the road with that. Probably it's because i live in belgium.

  • wow theyre strict over there... most officers understand that rock chips i this area of montana are hard to avoid and so they dont say much if youve got one... the international is kind of an extreme case but Ive got a windsheild waiting for me to pick up, I jsut havent gone and gotten it yet

  • over ere in new zealand werenot alowdedcips orcracks in te driver feild ov vission or it wont pass its warent ov fitness

  • ha ha I wouldnt be able to drive any of my vehicles over there

  • what size is the motor on that

  • its a homebuilt 345
