To say I am blown away is an understatement. God Bless all of you in what you are doing. I live in Baltimore MD and we could use something like this sooo much. This is the first video I have seen and I am committed to seeing them all. Thanks,l Good Luck and Godspeed in your efforts.
I must compliment all the families partaking in this they are showing the whole world what huge strength lies in the little person, this is an awesome display of pure COURAGE!!! a shinning example to the rest of all mankind, keep up the fantastic work and keep those video's comming, each one is a teaching milestone !
This video is so encouraging, it hive the most important thing to the normal person, HOPE !!!!!!!!!!!
I would seriously like to help you guys. I live in Raytown, MO; I'm currently overseas working on a development project in Vietnam. I would love to make connections locally to help progress these efforts, I've been grinding away intently at research into duckweed & alternative energy. I would like to help you guys; I've got some prototypes ready to go for a number of things & some research I'm currently doing.
I just shared your video with my granddaughter, and told her that THIS is what I hope for her future. Lykins is only a neighborhood away from the neighborhood I grew up in and I can't believe you're doing this amazing thing. I wish...
I'm close to 300 lbs, teach martial arts, and am generally considered a tough guy, but I swear your video brought tears to my eyes. I love the walk you guys are doing and will be using many of your systems in the earth bag project we are building in Mexico. You ever want to come down for a vacation after our houses are built just let me know. Peace.
The bit about duckweed sounded very interesting. Does anybody have some figures on energy and protein content? How does it compare with other forms of feed?
@YourXavier I don't have any figures but the fish and eggs would easily supply enough protein. The energy would be harder to come by but oats and such are easy to grow so i wouldn't be surprised if they had a small oat farm running too for complex carbs.
inshallah i could coordinate and cooperate and collaborate with you once i have come back to the Philippines... where i came from.. i am temporarily living and working in saudi arabia and had been doing aquaponics since beginning of this year.. and i hope, inshallah that your work is continuing... God bless you
Love what you guys are up to! I want to be doing something similar, maybe not so much "in the hood" although I respect that, but something like the "enclosed loop" of farming, nat gas, fish etc..
Great! Except for the part where you're raising bzillions of fish in a tiny area (that seems really cruel to me). In every other regard, big kudos to you for doing your best to better the world.
Keep up the good work guys! If you haven't yet, look into Permaculture, it is a system of patterns from nature that create an infinitely sustainable food production system. Google "permaculture design certificate courses" in your state and see what you come up with. Cheers!
this is awesome! i've been thinking about bringing a garden to every hood and you guys are already taking massive action. I love it! People often say "eating healthy is too expensive" and therre is no arguing that buying juice cost more than soda so I'm loving how you all are making it self- sustainable and taking it off the grid. so umm...can you guys come plant my grad
This is SO wonderful! Yes I got a tear in my eye :) I moved to Austin only 2 weeks ago and it was just yesterday that I found myself driving through the east side where efforts are being made but it's still very much a run down area; mostly minority, and in stark contrast with the downtown right across the highway. I felt a need to get in there and help make it better, and what y'all are doing would be just perfect! Thank you for doing what you're doing!!!
OK, I think this is a very interesting experiment, particularly in the USA which needs to revive its run down and economically depressed areas. I think there will be a lot to learn from the 20 families partaking in this experiment.
There is a philosophical concept called the 'broken window' effect. If there is a broken window in a run down area and this is not fixed, it encourages more windows to be broken. If it is repaired, there is not this same response. Keep up the good work!!
This is phenomenally inspirational! So SO glad to see other young people interested in the same things I am. This short clip made my day exponentially better!
Jack from the survival podcast mentioned you guys on one of his episodes this past week. Glad he did cause I could never have found you guys on here by my self. Great job can't wait to see more!
Good job guys! I started down this path about 30 years ago. Disruptions occured along the way and got derailed. Work together. That will be your strength!
Is there any negative side effects of feeding the worms frozen food? Will it lower the temperature of the colony itself? Or does the food thaw before the worms get to it?
Howz it going?
