Instead of having the baby growup with a mother who wanted to get rid of her baby in the beginning and possibly being mistreated, I'd rather it not have to go through that.
1) What are the reasons for black babies being aborted? Perhaps there's more unprotected sex? Stats alone say nothing unless you know the reasoning behind them. Extrapolating from that to make an argument for future is idiotic 2) Applying capital punishment is dependant upon circumstances but abortion is somehow NOT?!? @AceSkepTik how is he a wacko? is it because he stands for what he believes in and he never gives in to whats "popular"? he his beliefs are never waivered? and that he actually cares about humanity?
@arniebarb123 has in its constitution the separation for church and state. When your candidate says that his reasoning, moral values, ethics, and worldview is through only the bible then he is clearly unable to make secular decisions on matters which faith has absolutely no say (such as abortion, freedom of and from religion, racial issues, etc. etc.) Our modern society is not built upon the moral code of the bible. Frankly, the bible's moral code is appalling and we are better off without it
@arniebarb123 would you drag your child to the edge of town and stone him to death if they didn't obey you? Would you sell your daughter for another man? Would you ever consider another human being as your property? Would you agree to murder "infidels", people who do not share your beliefs? An analogy: Would you condemn your children to be brutally beaten and tortured forever if they said that they do not love you? Or would you consider a more mild punishment out of love for them?
@arniebarb123 yes, the bible has some good things in it but none of them are things which we could not have without a "god" telling us so. Mere altruism has positive effects for the whole of the community even if it didn't affect the individual. E.g, animals yelling warnings sounds to give time for the others to escape a predator. It doesn't benefit the individual (infact it puts it in danger) but benefits the group.
@juuonse u need to read it before u say its appalling because that just shows me how misinformed and uneducated u are about the subject .....God gave us the bible to give us a moral basis on how to live our lives and gave us the "do's and don'ts" the morality of the bible is pretty much impossible to 100% follow but we try and for u to say its appalling haha u have no idea what ur talking about hahahaah u have never read it and how i kno that is if u did u would never have said that
@arniebarb123 I recommend that you to your bible yourself. It's all there. If it's impossible to follow it 100% time then what's the point of having it? It is supposed to be the unerrable word of god isn't it? So if we cannot follow his "do's and don'ts" then why is it? Why bother with the bible at all since modern society is able to create much much better moral values than your bible ever could. If you only follow the "good" things then sure, it's not appalling. But knowing what the bible
@arniebarb123 commands on issues such as infidels, children who disobey you, selling and owning human beings...well... in that case you are just cherry picking the parts which fit into the modern society i.e. you are following modern moral values.
@arniebarb123 Yes, I have read my bible. Not completely, no, but portions of it. And again, you seem to have little knowledge about your god's commandments: Deuteronomy 13:6-10; If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you CONT
@arniebarb123 ... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die
@juuonse Deuteronomy 17:5 (won't quote the earlier parts as you can read them yourself, talking about a person worshipping other god(s) than the christian one) "take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death".
So yes, your beloved bible commands you to stone to death any person, man, woman or child who is caught worshipping another god.
Maybe you should spend a little more time with your "good" book.
@juuonse and please don't try to spin this with the "but that's the old testament" crap. 10 commandments is in the old testament, all the different genesis stories are in the old testament, but most of all, the old testament is part of your bible. Bible according to your god's words NEVER changes.
@juuonse u googled that lol...thats Gods wrath alright he knows peoples hearts...and that was also before jesus came to the earth so their was no one to pay ur penalty for sin and a lot of what u read in the old testament is more jewish law then anything but u made an amazing point im so awe struck of u!! u just amaze me
@arniebarb123 so what if i googled the exact passages? It doesn't take it away from your bible which is theh unerrable word of your god. You may joke all you want (it's a defence mechanism by the way), but it doesn't change the fact that I've debunked everything you've argued against and you haven't made any reasonable response to any of the points raised. So either you're trolling or just going "LALALALALA can't hear you LALALALA!" like so many other theists do when I push them hard enough.
@arniebarb123 either acknowledge that I was right or point out a possible flaw. Either way, be critical and realize that there are things in the bible which are utterly horrible yet these go completely unnoticed when theists bang on about their "good morals and good book" etc.
@juuonse in certain cases like economic decisions etc there isnt a need for morality but in terms off destroying an unborn undeveloped child its pretty obvious that morals play a huge role on peoples views so if u disagree with that u need to read more..i am a christian i believe that Jesus dies on the cross and made a way so i can go to heaven thats my beliefs u choose what u want to believe hence freedom of religion but dont go to google then come to me with bs claims
@arniebarb123 oh and ps. Many (if not all) economic decisions have an immense economic impact on peoples' lives so morals do play a big role. Just to point that out (I do get what you are saying that somethings don't need moral guidelines. However, comparing an unborn fetus of few weeks of age to a fully grown human being is just idiotic. If you go for the "it has a soul" claim, then I'm sorry but is again an unproveable assumption.
@arniebarb123 Don't be an idiot and try to put words into my mouth. What you seem to be missing is that a freshly formed fetus is lacking everything that makes it a human being, brains, nervous system, emotions, etc. etc. Even a two year old might still not be self aware as that is testable too. But comparing a fetus which is not much more then blob of biological mass to a human being is and calling it a "human being" is silly.
@juuonse so by quoting 6 verses then thinking u kno the whole teachings is just plain ignorant ur trying t debate with me on things u kno nothing about ...ur views are based on ur own human intellect which as not done u well so far..if u want be an atheist thats fine thats ur choice but dont try to make me look stupid for what i believe in ....and to say the bile is appalling is just plain retarded have a good day ur a waste of my time im to busy to be debating with ignorance
@arniebarb123 then tell me, what am I not understanding correctly about these verses? At what point in the bible does someone go "Oh, btw, stoning of heretics, children, etc. slavery, selling your own daughter as property, etc. was wrong.Don't do it."? Or is there perhaps some verse that justifies them? If I am so uneducated then please tell me what I am missing. I do realize that Jesus' character gave some good moral guides but he too was faaaar from perfect (e.g "have no worry for tomorrow")
Alan Keyes is a low down low Homosexual down low homo fagot (Quote Said Below)...my my...here's that Liberal love and tolerance raising it's ugly head once again.
Alan Keyes is anti gay rights, so he can just fuck off.
Alan Keyes smart? Yes he is smart, but is he a good person? If he was he would understand gay rights, he would understand that abortion is necessary in most of the cases it is done, but he doesn't. He bases his entire judgement of these matters on a fucking fairytale book. Using sin in a debate has no merit in northern Europe, it's something to laugh at. The harm his superstitious ideologies would cause America would be pretty severe.
I am sad to say that Alan Keyes is much too smart for the average American voter. I cast my vote for him out of principle, but hold little hope for a victory. This is an era of the cult of personality. I wish that whoever wins in 2012 retains Dr. Keyes as their closest advisor.
I don't care who you liked or voted for in this race, you have to admit that Keyes destroyed Obama in this debate. If you disagree, then you are not being intellectually honest about it.
Nail on the head: these abortionists are no different than the Nazis. The same people were involved in both groups on many levels, they have the same goals, and use the same language.
@Lachdenan "Nail on the head: these abortionists are no different than the Nazis. The same people were involved in both groups on many levels, they have the same goals, and use the same language" You're a moron.
more birth control in black communities and education about them and perhaps there would not be that many abortions....But Christians don't like sex talk or anything except prudery.
@DukeCityPoets Most beautiful? Who cares. Christianity is about God and his word. Not about the Pope and the strongest church. They focus on the world way too much and forget the Bible a lot. Their teachings are contrary and are not found in the Bible.
@Theeriuth Nowhere is it suspected by us that beauty has anything to do with teaching. Your mistaken if you find error in the organization of the Catechism. We have every possible religious angle summarized in the CCC and Vatican Law. No were not like Protestants, blurting out bible verses, but we have a term called Tradition. We continue God's teachings instead of relying Sola Scriptura.
@DukeCityPoets It's nice to find someone who knows what they're talking about, I appreciate it.
But let me ask you, where do you finds God's law instead of the Bible? People who are sinners? You must believe Jesus and his prophets.
Deuteronomy 4:5 Ye shall NOT ADD UNTO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE TAKE AWAY from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
The CCC and Vatican law are an organization of fallen sinners. Not reliable.
@Theeriuth The bible is fiction. This is a proven fact in which you will not accept. Which should explain itself to you, as to why I said to you that you stand for fiction. In other words, its self explanetory.
@splicedenergy The Bible is a huge compilation of eye-witnesses of Jesus Christ's life. Jesus walked on water, which is a fact you will not accept, because accepting it would mean you have to face the evils of the world -- your evils/sins. I stand for the creator and his word, becoming sanctified by him.
@Theeriuth Bullshit, you are merely taking your preachers word for it without actually verifying it. Which is blind faith, in which your preacher (preacher in a context of any intrusted religious leader in general) did not verify it either. If you had you would find that No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. cont.
@Theeriuth All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus came well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts.
@Theeriuth earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, using the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply simply because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts
@Theeriuth .Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony. Hearsay provides no proof or evidence .The consensus of many biblical historians put the dating of the earliest Gospel, that of Mark, at sometime after 70 C.E., and the last Gospel, John after 90 C.E. This would make it some 40 years after the alleged crucifixion of Jesus that we have any Gospel writings that mention him
@Keatrocity Catholics follow the Pope and not the Bible. They don't follow all the teaching of Christ that are found IN the Bible, and so they're not CHRISTian, "of Christ".
It seems to be a philosophy lesson every time Keyes opens his mouth. That's fine but it doesnt win voters. I think I'm pretty spot on there seeing as tho Keyes has never won an election.
@gombis666 Yea.. what you just said is people are to stupid to understand..
Obama knows that this generation is simple minded and dumbed down.. people who cant make a good comparison and contrast based on logic and intelectual understanding should not be able to vote..
Im all for taking away womens voting rights.. since they vote based on how they feel.. and not the well being of the people overall
Whats the problem with getting an adoption. Those who vote for abortion are the selfish ones instead of giving their child a chance at life they kill them so that they could live free of the burden, or even just putting their child up for adoption.
People against abortion are people who are incredibly selfish and unreflected. Don't have an abortion, but don't prohibit others to make their own choices. Why should your opinion and choices be enforced on other people in other situations you can NEVER understand in your lifetime.
Yeah Alan, I knew that. Unfortunately the black impoverished community are especially negligent when it comes to sex. I am not racist but it is a fact. So this problem is not abortion's fault. It is the poor fault of the poor, sexually wreckless black population that is responsible. The white trash hillbilly group have the same issue. It follows poverty which generally comes from immense stupidity.
By the way buddy... abortion is here to stay so get used to it :)
Its funny how he talks about how we r created equal. I presume he is referencing god. Even though in Exodus 21:20-21 "When a man strikes his slave...and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be punished; for the slave is his money." The word "money" in this case means property; it is translated "property" in the Modern Language, Living Bible and other translations.
Don't fall bait for the white slave master's religion, man. Had the horror of slavery not occurred, 99% of American black people that today claim to be Christian wouldn't be at all. The civil rights movement isn't over until you free your mind of that religious Christian nonsense.
@adjohnson916 Christianity was started in Israel. Of the first nations to murder Christians, the Gauls in what is today France were white. Christianity, as the Lord stated, and as offended the Jews in Jesus' day, was for all the nations/Gentiles. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for the Jew first, and then the Gentile. Three of the oldest Christian communities are in Ethiopia, Egypt and Iraq-all of which are all of the line of Shem and Ham and not Japheth.
@adjohnson916 Without the grace of God upon any soul that professes Christ as their Lord, there would not be one single person to do so. Wouldn't matter if they were American, European, Latin American, African, Asian or from anywhere else in the world. But praise be to God-no matter what nation I turn to, I hear a resounding witness of believers in all of them-even in countries that hate western civilization-especially American culture.
@adjohnson916 God really does cause all things to work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purpose. Even the evil that men do to one another-even in the name of religion, and even in the name of God; God makes all things well for his children. Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, but God used it to save many people. Jesus' own people murdered him on the cross, but God purposed their evil deeds to bring salvation to his people.
@adjohnson916 Many souls have had to find their lives on the most humbling and painful of circumstances to come to know what is the truth and mercy of God in Christ in their lives. Many lives have been saved through otherwise tragic and even wicked circumstances. The Lord calls it his peculiar work when he works to save his people. But at the same time he also calls it his strange work when he works judgment against those for whom his wrath is reserved.
I don't need politicians telling me about their faith, or my faith. What i want the government to do is establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for common defense, promote general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty for me and my posterity. Everything else, whether personal faith or morals, I will develop with the Divine on my own.
How do you ground justice apart from the divine will?
Whatever a politicians conception of justice, whatever their understanding of Godl-that will determine what rights they recognize in all men and what liberties you have or don't have.
First, let me say I'm a devout theist. However, my theology is personal, and though it guides my personal conduct in my career work, the policies/procedures of my employer guide my job responsibilities. The same applies to politics. Politicians are not pastors, and should be guided by the laws of the land, which are (or should be) set to protect the freedoms of all americans, whether theists or atheists. One doesn't need to wear his theology on his sleeve to accomplish that (in my view).
Whether you agree with the "Sexual Rights" or not I believe they work as a demonstration for how a politicians, or committees, worldview can affect public policy.
Something like that would never be drafted by the Vatican. :)
An individuals theology or lack their of will ultimately determine what freedoms, rights, and/or privileges you will have (or I should say what the government will recognize).
I care a whole lot more than you think. I simply disagree with: "An individuals theology ...will ultimately determine what freedoms...you will have..." My rights are determined by my theology; not by some politician's. That's my only point. We sometimes give politicians too much star-power and authority than they are due. And the only reason they get too high is because we the avg. joes don't get involved until election time, then we're lullabied back to sleep until re-election time..
Additionally, this is why I respect politicians, but do not revere them or put them on pedestals. Keyes, as you may know, has a daughter who strongly disagrees with some of his core views, and he put her out and she ended up homeless. Now you want me to care about his religious rhetoric when he treats his own daughter that way? How do you think he'll treat our sons/daughters if we give him more power than what he calls for (if he makes it to office)? He's a big hypocrite in my book.
Alan Keyes argued your statement about wearing theology on your sleeve to perfection - just watch the video again. And if you don't get it, watch it again and again until you do.
Another attempt to dodge the debate. I don't need to refer to Alan Keyes to be right on something. All religion, spirituality, and theology is personal, not corporate or national. God's commandments are directly for me, and not necessarily for anyone else. What they decide to do with their body is their business.
Just because I don't agree with you, then I'm for murder? How ridiculous. I'm just as vehement against abortion as you are. But I'm not going to repeat myself either just to win a debate with you. Secondly, outlawing abortion will not end abortions. It will only imperil women will find alternative & more hazardous ways to get an abortion. Finally, let's do more to protect the rights of actual people than argue over the rights of potential people (embryos).
They are not potential. They are already people at conception. You are not nearly as vehemently against abortion as I because you are not defending a living human being (in your mind) as I am. As for the law, maybe we sould legalize rape, theft, etc. so that they can be done more cleanly - because currently they are being done in hazardous ways where the theif or rapist could potentially be hurt. The unborn child is a person and is collectively the largest victim of murder in mankind's history.

Dude, the premise that Dr. Keyes and others are trying to argue is that you, as a citizen, will be able to enjoy those constitutional protections because the government ought to have an obligation to protect the lives of its citizens at all stages of their development and particularly when they cannot defend themselves. You might now say that a fetus is not a human. Well, if we could prove the truth of such statements then there would be no debate.
If life begins at conception, why is the birthdate (DOB) such a legal statistic in high regard? Nobody keeps their conception dates, only their birth dates. And everything is determined in the DOB - eligibility to vote, driving, insurance, some jobs, military, etc. But when it comes to abortion, life begins at conception, to politicize the debate.
My comments do not necessarily mean that I'm for abortion. In fact, I am personally against abortion. However, I cannot determine someone else's choice.
If you parse my statement, then you'll always misunderstand what I'm saying, a cheap tactic to try to win an argument. I'm not trying to win anything, I'm just saying that I do not personally agree with abortion, but I cannot make someone else's decision (on abortion), as that decision has no direct affect on me or my family.
When that 'choice' involves the life and death of another human being, it makes it about more than 1 persons 'choice'
Im not for slavery, but I dont think its my business if people wanna keep slaves, Im not for the Nazi holocaust, but who am I to say Hitler dosnt have that choice. I don't believe rape is right, but if a man wants to rape a woman, whats to stop him?
Stupid claims hey, well thats the EXACT claim you make when it comes to abortion.
you obviously did not read my statement in this thread about when life begins from a legal sense. From a biological sense, it's factual to say that life begins at conception. But from a legal sense in whether or not abortion should be legal, everything is based on a person's actual birth, not conception. All the examples you mentioned (slavery, holocaust, etc) deal with people who in the legal sense are living individuals. And again, I'm vehemently personally against abortion!
Unborn babies are living individuals, human beings, all of the above. They just happen to be at the most helpless stage of life living inside their mother. They are still living individuals. 50 million unborn murdered in the U.S. alone since Roe v Wade - the greatest holocaust in the history of mankind. Make it illegal. Prosecute it as the murder degree 1 that it is. And along the way educate people why it is wrong. All parts of the elimination of abortion must go hand-in-hand immediately.
alan more intellegent than OBAMA??Lol!!(what a stretchLol!..Obama-Harvard grad, top of his class-one of the youngest presidents in U.S. History, out debates seasoned polititions during debates (even FOX news admits that!Lol! Becomes president as a (JUNIOR SENATOR!Lol!!I could go on and on..wins THE SOUTH over white presidential candidates!Lol..o.k. alan keyes accomplishments???????????Lol!!!
Alan Keyes doesn't need a teleprompter and doesnt say "uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhm" like Obama does. He is simply too smart to be president. Too many people hate people who are smarter than them.
@Eye2EyeIIIV The death of the gulf is punishment for electing a morally devoid abortionist. Not only is Alan Keyes a brilliant man....he is a moral and just man that believes in God.
Can anyone point me to the clip where Obama says he supports sex-ed for kindergartners? Democrats are lying (as usual) cleaiming Obama never said this.
I don't think that it was something that he said. I think that it was what he voted against (e.g., some law came up in the Illinois legislature about banning sex education for children as young as kindergartners and Obama voted against it). In this way, it's a bit of stretch to say that he supported sex ed for 5 year olds; however, he definitely wanted to leave the option on the table, it seems.
He didn't both sides lie all the time but what he was saying in that bill was protecting kids against sexual predictors. If you look into the bill you will see.
Interesting even though I'm not too sure what he''s talkin' about.

So either you're trolling or just going "LALALALALA can't hear you LALALALA!" like so many other theists do when I push them hard enough.
juuonse 5 months ago
@juuonse what would u like me to say?
arniebarb123 5 months ago
@arniebarb123 either acknowledge that I was right or point out a possible flaw. Either way, be critical and realize that there are things in the bible which are utterly horrible yet these go completely unnoticed when theists bang on about their "good morals and good book" etc.
juuonse 5 months ago
@juuonse in certain cases like economic decisions etc there isnt a need for morality but in terms off destroying an unborn undeveloped child its pretty obvious that morals play a huge role on peoples views so if u disagree with that u need to read more..i am a christian i believe that Jesus dies on the cross and made a way so i can go to heaven thats my beliefs u choose what u want to believe hence freedom of religion but dont go to google then come to me with bs claims
arniebarb123 5 months ago
@arniebarb123 oh and ps. Many (if not all) economic decisions have an immense economic impact on peoples' lives so morals do play a big role. Just to point that out (I do get what you are saying that somethings don't need moral guidelines. However, comparing an unborn fetus of few weeks of age to a fully grown human being is just idiotic. If you go for the "it has a soul" claim, then I'm sorry but is again an unproveable assumption.
juuonse 5 months ago
@juuonse so isnt comparing a 2 year old to a fully grown human being idiotic too?
arniebarb123 5 months ago
@arniebarb123 Don't be an idiot and try to put words into my mouth. What you seem to be missing is that a freshly formed fetus is lacking everything that makes it a human being, brains, nervous system, emotions, etc. etc. Even a two year old might still not be self aware as that is testable too. But comparing a fetus which is not much more then blob of biological mass to a human being is and calling it a "human being" is silly.
juuonse 5 months ago
@juuonse how did i put words in ur mouth?
arniebarb123 5 months ago
@juuonse so by quoting 6 verses then thinking u kno the whole teachings is just plain ignorant ur trying t debate with me on things u kno nothing about ...ur views are based on ur own human intellect which as not done u well so far..if u want be an atheist thats fine thats ur choice but dont try to make me look stupid for what i believe in ....and to say the bile is appalling is just plain retarded have a good day ur a waste of my time im to busy to be debating with ignorance
arniebarb123 5 months ago
@arniebarb123 then tell me, what am I not understanding correctly about these verses? At what point in the bible does someone go "Oh, btw, stoning of heretics, children, etc. slavery, selling your own daughter as property, etc. was wrong.Don't do it."? Or is there perhaps some verse that justifies them? If I am so uneducated then please tell me what I am missing. I do realize that Jesus' character gave some good moral guides but he too was faaaar from perfect (e.g "have no worry for tomorrow")

In other words, its self explanetory.
splicedenergy 1 year ago
@splicedenergy The Bible is a huge compilation of eye-witnesses of Jesus Christ's life. Jesus walked on water, which is a fact you will not accept, because accepting it would mean you have to face the evils of the world -- your evils/sins. I stand for the creator and his word, becoming sanctified by him.
Theeriuth 1 year ago
@Theeriuth Bullshit, you are merely taking your preachers word for it without actually verifying it. Which is blind faith, in which your preacher (preacher in a context of any intrusted religious leader in general) did not verify it either. If you had you would find that No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. cont.
splicedenergy 1 year ago
@Theeriuth All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus came well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts.
splicedenergy 1 year ago
@Theeriuth earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, using the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply simply because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts
splicedenergy 1 year ago
@Theeriuth .Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony. Hearsay provides no proof or evidence .The consensus of many biblical historians put the dating of the earliest Gospel, that of Mark, at sometime after 70 C.E., and the last Gospel, John after 90 C.E. This would make it some 40 years after the alleged crucifixion of Jesus that we have any Gospel writings that mention him

The civil rights movement isn't over until you free your mind of that religious Christian nonsense.
adjohnson916 1 year ago
@adjohnson916 Christianity was started in Israel. Of the first nations to murder Christians, the Gauls in what is today France were white. Christianity, as the Lord stated, and as offended the Jews in Jesus' day, was for all the nations/Gentiles. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for the Jew first, and then the Gentile. Three of the oldest Christian communities are in Ethiopia, Egypt and Iraq-all of which are all of the line of Shem and Ham and not Japheth.
HermitintheRain 1 year ago
@adjohnson916 Without the grace of God upon any soul that professes Christ as their Lord, there would not be one single person to do so. Wouldn't matter if they were American, European, Latin American, African, Asian or from anywhere else in the world. But praise be to God-no matter what nation I turn to, I hear a resounding witness of believers in all of them-even in countries that hate western civilization-especially American culture.
HermitintheRain 1 year ago
@adjohnson916 God really does cause all things to work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purpose. Even the evil that men do to one another-even in the name of religion, and even in the name of God; God makes all things well for his children. Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, but God used it to save many people. Jesus' own people murdered him on the cross, but God purposed their evil deeds to bring salvation to his people.
HermitintheRain 1 year ago

Everything else, whether personal faith or morals, I will develop with the Divine on my own.
jnthnlck 2 years ago
How do you ground justice apart from the divine will?
Whatever a politicians conception of justice, whatever their understanding of Godl-that will determine what rights they recognize in all men and what liberties you have or don't have.
wood9670 2 years ago
First, let me say I'm a devout theist. However, my theology is personal, and though it guides my personal conduct in my career work, the policies/procedures of my employer guide my job responsibilities. The same applies to politics. Politicians are not pastors, and should be guided by the laws of the land, which are (or should be) set to protect the freedoms of all americans, whether theists or atheists. One doesn't need to wear his theology on his sleeve to accomplish that (in my view).
jnthnlck 2 years ago
Check out this video
watch?v=2RWVLQx98Yk
Whether you agree with the "Sexual Rights" or not I believe they work as a demonstration for how a politicians, or committees, worldview can affect public policy.
Something like that would never be drafted by the Vatican. :)
An individuals theology or lack their of will ultimately determine what freedoms, rights, and/or privileges you will have (or I should say what the government will recognize).
So I humbly suggest you start caring.
wood9670 2 years ago
I care a whole lot more than you think. I simply disagree with: "An individuals theology ...will ultimately determine what freedoms...you will have..." My rights are determined by my theology; not by some politician's. That's my only point. We sometimes give politicians too much star-power and authority than they are due. And the only reason they get too high is because we the avg. joes don't get involved until election time, then we're lullabied back to sleep until re-election time..
jnthnlck 2 years ago
Additionally, this is why I respect politicians, but do not revere them or put them on pedestals. Keyes, as you may know, has a daughter who strongly disagrees with some of his core views, and he put her out and she ended up homeless. Now you want me to care about his religious rhetoric when he treats his own daughter that way? How do you think he'll treat our sons/daughters if we give him more power than what he calls for (if he makes it to office)? He's a big hypocrite in my book.
jnthnlck 2 years ago
Alan Keyes argued your statement about wearing theology on your sleeve to perfection - just watch the video again. And if you don't get it, watch it again and again until you do.
Absolute21Truth 2 years ago
Another attempt to dodge the debate. I don't need to refer to Alan Keyes to be right on something. All religion, spirituality, and theology is personal, not corporate or national. God's commandments are directly for me, and not necessarily for anyone else. What they decide to do with their body is their business.
jnthnlck 2 years ago
So if somebody kills somebody else, as long as you're not involved, you're cool with it.
Absolute21Truth 2 years ago
Just because I don't agree with you, then I'm for murder? How ridiculous. I'm just as vehement against abortion as you are. But I'm not going to repeat myself either just to win a debate with you. Secondly, outlawing abortion will not end abortions. It will only imperil women will find alternative & more hazardous ways to get an abortion. Finally, let's do more to protect the rights of actual people than argue over the rights of potential people (embryos).
jnthnlck 2 years ago
They are not potential. They are already people at conception. You are not nearly as vehemently against abortion as I because you are not defending a living human being (in your mind) as I am. As for the law, maybe we sould legalize rape, theft, etc. so that they can be done more cleanly - because currently they are being done in hazardous ways where the theif or rapist could potentially be hurt. The unborn child is a person and is collectively the largest victim of murder in mankind's history.
Absolute21Truth 2 years ago

Absolute21Truth 2 years ago
Dude, the premise that Dr. Keyes and others are trying to argue is that you, as a citizen, will be able to enjoy those constitutional protections because the government ought to have an obligation to protect the lives of its citizens at all stages of their development and particularly when they cannot defend themselves. You might now say that a fetus is not a human. Well, if we could prove the truth of such statements then there would be no debate.
TheParrfection 2 years ago
If life begins at conception, why is the birthdate (DOB) such a legal statistic in high regard? Nobody keeps their conception dates, only their birth dates. And everything is determined in the DOB - eligibility to vote, driving, insurance, some jobs, military, etc. But when it comes to abortion, life begins at conception, to politicize the debate.

My comments do not necessarily mean that I'm for abortion. In fact, I am personally against abortion. However, I cannot determine someone else's choice.
jnthnlck 2 years ago
So then all murder should be legal because you cannot determine someone else's choice?
Absolute21Truth 2 years ago
If you parse my statement, then you'll always misunderstand what I'm saying, a cheap tactic to try to win an argument. I'm not trying to win anything, I'm just saying that I do not personally agree with abortion, but I cannot make someone else's decision (on abortion), as that decision has no direct affect on me or my family.
jnthnlck 2 years ago
When that 'choice' involves the life and death of another human being, it makes it about more than 1 persons 'choice'
Im not for slavery, but I dont think its my business if people wanna keep slaves, Im not for the Nazi holocaust, but who am I to say Hitler dosnt have that choice. I don't believe rape is right, but if a man wants to rape a woman, whats to stop him?
Stupid claims hey, well thats the EXACT claim you make when it comes to abortion.
ProLife7777777 2 years ago
No, THAT'S NOT THE CLAIM I AM MAKING!!
jnthnlck 2 years ago
you obviously did not read my statement in this thread about when life begins from a legal sense. From a biological sense, it's factual to say that life begins at conception. But from a legal sense in whether or not abortion should be legal, everything is based on a person's actual birth, not conception. All the examples you mentioned (slavery, holocaust, etc) deal with people who in the legal sense are living individuals. And again, I'm vehemently personally against abortion!
jnthnlck 2 years ago
Unborn babies are living individuals, human beings, all of the above. They just happen to be at the most helpless stage of life living inside their mother. They are still living individuals. 50 million unborn murdered in the U.S. alone since Roe v Wade - the greatest holocaust in the history of mankind. Make it illegal. Prosecute it as the murder degree 1 that it is. And along the way educate people why it is wrong. All parts of the elimination of abortion must go hand-in-hand immediately.
