HYPOCRISY and IN FLAMES are probably the best melodic death metal bands in the history.......dese guys will always b da pioneers of da melodic scene \m/ \m/
Cool. And since the release of Penetralia (their first full-length in the discography) there's been 10 other albums, Penetralia making 11. The new album "A Taste of Extreme Divinity" due in October will be #12 Hypocrisy album.
Peter rarely disappoints. I'll be anxious to get this album.
Peter Tagtren's endless desire for perfection never ceases to amaze me. He even decided to take the ONE blemish in Hypocrisy's impeccable career and re-record it, basically making what Nu-Metal should be.
I guess if you make a comment like that, people are going to start throwing stones. But you aren't too far off from being right; Peter Tagtgren is a perfectionist, he can't quit until its perfect, until its done (in his mind).
It is said that he was greatly influenced by bands like Slipknot during this release, well, because thats who they were touring with. Also, there some recordings of the vocals and drum track(s) that he wanted to fix. But yeah - he goes and redoes the whole thing.
I'm like that too, i really hate it sometimes, that i can't just finish something, it has to be PERFECT, i try to tell myself that it's not like i've been playing Death Metal for 20 years like Hypocrisy or Cannibal Corpse, and i know what i write is not going to be perfect, i always get so fucking frustrated when i make something that's ''not good enough''.
why would they re-record an album that was perfectly well-recorded in the beginning? They should have re-recorded pentralia (this time with Peter Tahtgren singing)
The first version is probably better. More atmospheric and poppier ( in a good way ).
Now he's trying to turn Catch 22 into Virus. But Virus was a great album because with the addition of Horgh, Hypo felt like a band. Not just Tagtren the mastermind, going crazy in a castle somewhere like Billy Corgan and playing all the parts himself because no one else is good enough. That's what I'm hearing in this new Catch-22.
I've been listening to this song since the original came out, and it's so wierd hearing it like this. I like the vocals better on the original, but the music sounds so much better. I little rerecording and remixing can go a long way. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album! I bet 'Don't Judge Me' and 'Turn the Page' are gonna sound so fucking mean with this new sound production. Hypocrisy kicks tons of ass! -Mark, WI
wow, peter has really different vocals on the rerelease. destroyed was one of few songs that i liked from the old catch, so i decided to search it... im amused!
Personally, I like the original better. I fucking love hypocrisy, but I prefer the original of this song because i feel the vocals blend better. this version owns too. unable to find a hyocrisy song I don't like. =]
Cool, do you have any plans of putting some more awesomeness up? Would be nice to hear some of the remakes as I've not enough money for now to buy the CD :'(
this version is SHIT

The vocals are much better in this one than the scream style singing in the previous version.

Yes. Peter has a nice range of death vocals (and not just his death vocals).
He has been around for awhile in the scene and is respected in alot of other circles then just melodeath.
He's tried black metal-- and we all know Peter is a metal god. You pwn Peter!

I think I actually like this version's chorus better because its deeper and more death metal sounding :P
But they are both good.

Tbh, Catch 22 was poor and this albem is just a flashed up version of songs that had no potential (this being the only awesome song on the album).
Virus was a masterpiece and i can't wait fr the early 09' album.

This version is SO much worse than the original. I dont quite get the same feeling as with the original version. The original is still my favourite
