i love both but will not compare the two. Its like comparing the best cheeseburger & french fries & cold beer to a night out at a fine Italian resturant with good wine. Both are great but dont compare.
Beh escludo i discorsi tecnici visto che non me ne intendo; dal punto di vista estetico secondo me la Mangusta era forse l'auto più bella in assoluto dell'epoca (più della Lamorghini Miura, mentre le Ferrari di fine 60/inizio 70 secondo me non si qualificano neanche tra le prime 5), e sembra ancora *molto* più attuale della Stingray (per carità bella, ma non perfetta come la Mangusta).
De Tomaso's creations ought not be compared to the Corvettes -- entirely different design vocabularies. However, in this case, of course, the Corvette is the far more stellar looking car ...

Not to sound like an Italian car elitist, but I don't think there is any comparison. Everyone has seen dozens of Sting Rays, who has actually seen a Mangusta on the road, so rarity is one advantage of the Mangusta. But the design! The Mangusta is absolute class, every line placed perfectly,sleek to the point of absurdity, only 40 inches high when the GT40 had set the mark. Only a Ferrari or Maserati Bora is fit comparison, or Alfa Montreal. But I do love the yankee V-8 in Vette or Mangusta!
@gurlsingerfan poke yer nose under that skin and you'll find an underpowered 302, a shifter that never stays adjusted, look at them skinny chrome slots, and it handled rather horrid, it had a pos wishbone frame, a horrible design embraced by a few fools with no better sense, like lotus and delorean. Thank god for it's early demise from the auto landscape. A healthy Vette would eat it;s lunch, a Boss Mustang ate my friends light after light, then ran off and left us. It's pretty to look at.
@505197 I can't argue with your facts...of course the little 302 can be made better with some cylinder head work, a decent cam and some nice carbs...but we know it will never be a high horsepower supercar...but that's sort of like saying Monica Bellucci would be crap to be with because she may not be a great cook....people buy the De Tomaso for the bodywork, pure and simple, its one of the few non Ferrari's beautiful enough to sit in the living room as a decorator piece. Rare and fine...
