@stratking69er Obviously u have no clue of what ur talking about... Thank god there must be 2 like you in the whole world .....unfortunately the other one gave u birth !!
Wow, that is just something else!! Keep that band together Prez. I should have been born in Austin...second thoughts no, I probably wouldn't be around now dotin' on 5 georgeous grandchildren. Too many lived fast and died young.
Well Stevie is still my favourite but Texas sure did born some great blues guitarists and singers no doubt about that, All you folks that have seen and heard them live are the luckiest people around I reckon
how come derek o brien is so underatted! Nobel Prize of underatting!!!! I absolutly agree with extrajimmies: btw , if you alove keith Ferguson, you should appreciate Calvin "fuzz" jones & his roaring bass with Muddy waters
Makes me wish I was back in Austin! I love Lou Ann Barton and those Texas blues. What I'd do for a concert with Lou Ann Barton, Sue Foley, and Angela Strehli together! Thanks for making me homesick!! and a great post!
The whole band is GREAT, and it is easy to tell why Jay Moeller is considered (at least by me) to be one of the ace Texas shuffle drummers in the mofo world!
great performance, loved it, derrek o brian is one of my favorite players, preston is one of my favorite bass players next to keith ferguson, and lou ann barton is a real firecracker, and every one here is just as important as the next
I only have the version from the T-Birds first album - - Did not know so many versions existed. Jimmie's solos are boss -- real straight and to the point. Deceptively simple but not easy - - harder than hell to play. Trust me on that. Thanks for the heads up about Ronnie Earl's postings.
the other versions of 'wait on time' are on 'different tacos' and 'tacos deluxe', one is from a festival in England, the other from a club, both around '79 i think. i know what you mean about his solos, simple and hard to copy! another great resource is the Jimmie Vaughan site, where
the opening of every track he's played on is available. just the openings of the slow blues stuff invaluable.
I have 4 versions of this, from the first T-Birds Album, from a live tape
at a college in 1978, from 'Different Tacos' and from 'Tacos Deluxe', and they're all phenomenal, and all at different tempos. i really dig Derek and Denny's and everyone's playing here too, 'state of the art' Austin blues. also check out the Ronnie Earl that's posted, i think you'll like it.
What a great clip! Thanks. LouAnne and the band are the real deal. That guitar solo on Ti Ni Ne Nu is one of the best I've ever heard. Comes on nice and slow, deliciously behind the beat, honkin' like a big ol' goose!
does anyone know if that's Bill Campbell in the background behind Derrek during his solo? Bill is a great player and big influence on Jimmie Vaughan and Austin blues overall. thanks so much for this vid, brilliant.
Orale, Ted149!! Good ears, homes. Prez here...the bass player. And yes, Hip Shake was the 2nd song. My big bro Paul posted this up. He has all the raw files and should have other edits up soon.
Lou-Ann's best record is 'Read My Lips' IMO. Can't get enough of this. That second solo is the sh*t. Hey PHubb - you got any more of this? Sounds from that chord just before it cuts like the band is about to launch into 'Hip Shake'.
The first guitarist that you don't see much of is Denny Freeman now with Bob Dylan. Stevie Ray Vaughan came to Austin and was Denny's rhythm guitar player. A lot of the licks that you hear S. Harvey hear from Stevie Ray were Denny's. Denny was also the lead guitar player for Taj Mahal. Great unknown talent.
-I wish I could swap for her for my old nagbag .
