I think these instruments don't overblow so wel (if at all)l like actual Clarinet's (invented by Denners or the circle), Calumeaux is earlier folk instrument , refined later by Denners (like this model) and some others.
@anacrusa86 Many makers such as Guntram Wolf, Rudolf Tutz, Agnes Gueroult, Peter van der Poel who will produce a beautiful chalumeau for you. Then there are factory set up instruments by Moeck...
its a copy from Denner (Nürnberg),made by Wolf (Kronach/Germany) this instrument is an early clarinet, fingering very similar to recorder, embouchure is like tenorsaxophone (more relaxed than modern clarinet). Look for info at Wikipedia!
@hjfuss And yet the sound is the same as the clarinet. I've sent a suggestion for an experimental performance and/or recording of Beethoven's Sixth with a list of Baroque-Period equivalents to the instrumentation that Beethoven scored for to one Ton Koopman, but haven't heard back from him yet. The List of Baroque Equivalents: One Recorder, Two Baroque Flauti Traversi, Two Baroque Oboes, Two Chalumeaux, Two Dulcians, Two Baroque Horns, Two Baroque Trumpets, Two Serpents, Timpani, and Strings.
how much is it?

The chalumeau was used in the late Baroque period in the 17th century. I think it's where we got the modern clarinet.
