He was definately the show stealer, lots of dancing, and great singing. He is definately a great performer. Cant wait for him to go on tour on his own.
In my book he did win. Did you know that he already has a song in an upcoming movie? the movie 2012, coming out in November, it is supposed to be a GREAT song too, reviews are all great for him. And it just so happens, that he will release his album in November also. Look for it!

Not many similarities between Adam and Elvis. Adam's every move is calculated, rehearsed, and choreographed. Elvis feels the music and has a spontaneous reaction. Adam is gay, Elvis is straight (Elvis gets more girls, Adam gets the freakes). Elvis used his full vocal range (stressing a soulful lower register), Adam prefers to concentrate on impossibly high, flashy notes. No comparison.
Lillian, Elvis had a lot of speculation about his sexuality. He didn't get along well with Pricilla at all. Elvis' managers were always on his case about the way he moved, and how he sang as to not to appear "queer" or whatever label they were using back in that time period.

Adam is throwing his hat into a different arena. There is a huge difference between commercial snging and stage singing. The popular singer tries to relate to, and have some sort of connection with the audience. Stage singing is projected to the audience as part of a story. Big difference. I think Adam is pretty good as a stage singer, but not as a pop singer. He just shout over songs as opposed to interpreting.
You are absolutely right, Kara is a joke. But she did indeed get Adam to tone down that broadway stuff he does. Broadway singing is like Opera, it's very detached and doesn't involve the audience. The producers wanted Adam in spite of this because they saw that hecould boost their ratings. Adam will struggle on the music charts because no one is rushing out to buy b'way musical soundtracks. Oh, and they made a big mistake letting Paula go.
I was extremely moved by his performance in Ten Commandments, his song 'Is Anybody Listening' was so emotional, not detached and was a showstopper, he got very high reviews for that performance. That was musical theatre yet it touched people emotionally. Why is musical theatre always getting a rap for being so detached?
Also, am curious about your opinion of Elvis Prestly, do you think he was a minimally talented singer without much hope of a career in music?
We love Rock because it's not perfect. Rock is honest, aggressive, sometimes agry or emotional. Rock is very human. No one listens to rock expecting clean vocals. It ain't about that. Clean vocals are for Pop music, opera, or musical theater. That's why what Adam does can never be considered rock. His singing is sterile and staged because of all those years in musical theater. Remember when Kara pointed this out to him at the beginning?
Adam should not be drowned out by a base. His voice is tooo awesome and has to be the center piece of whatever he does. Just like Freddie Mecury or Elvis. He is a definate lead. Besides he needs lots of room to move - sizzle!! Love it!!
My point is that mister amazing, awesome vocalist only uses a fraction of his range. The only time he uses his full range is when he does a generic broadway vocal (whichis useless in pop music). His singing is not rich or powerful because his lower register is an afterthought for him, as opposed to where his voice should stem from. Listen to the "Slow Ride" duet with Allison. She has a rich, powerful voice that basically drowns his thin vocals out. Don't believe all that AI hype.
I liked Adam the first time he opened his mouth and told the judges, "I'm not scarwd." So I'm not believing any AI hype. I don't have to listen to anyone to determine whether or not I like something.
Adam's voice is powerful. His rendition of WLL is just as or more powerful than Plants. Plant (I love him) had some "pitchy moments, dawg" as Randy would say.
Actually, I was kind of hoping Adam would take Citizen Vein along for the ride. I know he is very loyal to his friends--just from what I've read. Even though Adam's a tenor...he's a trained professional...and, as such has the ability to sing in the lower, baritone register, as well.
If he has the ability to sing in a lower baritone register, as you say, why didn't he use this ability with Citizen Vein? Why doesn't he use it now? Why would a singer with such an "awesome" range actually use that range? Is he saving it for a special occassion?
Believe it or not, I'm not a hater. I really wanted this guy to be the real deal until I saw his youtube videos. I was really disappointed when I saw him with Citizen Vein. I saw why the band didn't go anywhere: their lead singer couldn't deliver the goods. The band had a cool sould, but Adam doesn't have enough bass in his voice to hang with them. He's a one-trick pony with that high pitched vocal style. Very limited vocally.

Oh, and I forgot. KISS is very funny about who they let perform on stage with them. They wouldn't even let Lynard Skynard or Ted Nuggent sing with them. But, who do you think they came rock out with on American Idol? ADAM!!!

I've often said the next guy I marry will hold no less than a Master's, however, Adam would be about the only one I'd consider without a college degree if he ever went there. No one whose been in a paid production as large as Wicked is a music theater flunky. 2--almost every role is given to the cream of the crop. 3. People aspire to do theater, they don't say, "Well, Gee, I couldn't find a job at Walmart, I guess I might as well audition for "this here" play."

The whole entire "art of rock" as you call it has been slowly dying since the early 90's and not even the rocker AI winner David Cook could breath life into it like Adam could.

When I say Adam sings like Elvis, I'm not refering to Bass tones versus tenor, I'm talking about other technical stuff, to make myself clear, such as subtle vocal inflections, (a vocal professional could explain this to you much better seeing as how thick you are anyway) the way he sings the words when he's belting them out or singing--again, not the tone. Not many similarities between Adam and Elvis. Adam's every move is calculated, rehearsed, and choreographed. Elvis feels the music and has a spontaneous reaction. Adam is gay, Elvis is straight (Elvis gets more girls, Adam gets the freakes). Elvis used his full vocal range (stressing a soulful lower register), Adam prefers to concentrate on impossibly high, flashy notes. No comparison.

Lillian, Elvis had a lot of speculation about his sexuality. He didn't get along well with Pricilla at all. Elvis' managers were always on his case about the way he moved, and how he sang as to not to appear "queer" or whatever label they were using back in that time period.

Adam is throwing his hat into a different arena. There is a huge difference between commercial snging and stage singing. The popular singer tries to relate to, and have some sort of connection with the audience. Stage singing is projected to the audience as part of a story. Big difference. I think Adam is pretty good as a stage singer, but not as a pop singer. He just shout over songs as opposed to interpreting.

You are absolutely right, Kara is a joke. But she did indeed get Adam to tone down that broadway stuff he does. Broadway singing is like Opera, it's very detached and doesn't involve the audience. The producers wanted Adam in spite of this because they saw that hecould boost their ratings. Adam will struggle on the music charts because no one is rushing out to buy b'way musical soundtracks. Oh, and they made a big mistake letting Paula go.

I was extremely moved by his performance in Ten Commandments, his song 'Is Anybody Listening' was so emotional, not detached and was a showstopper, he got very high reviews for that performance. That was musical theatre yet it touched people emotionally. Why is musical theatre always getting a rap for being so detached?
Also, am curious about your opinion of Elvis Prestly, do you think he was a minimally talented singer without much hope of a career in music?

We love Rock because it's not perfect. Rock is honest, aggressive, sometimes agry or emotional. Rock is very human. No one listens to rock expecting clean vocals. It ain't about that. Clean vocals are for Pop music, opera, or musical theater. That's why what Adam does can never be considered rock. His singing is sterile and staged because of all those years in musical theater. Remember when Kara pointed this out to him at the beginning?

My point is that mister amazing, awesome vocalist only uses a fraction of his range. The only time he uses his full range is when he does a generic broadway vocal (whichis useless in pop music). His singing is not rich or powerful because his lower register is an afterthought for him, as opposed to where his voice should stem from. Listen to the "Slow Ride" duet with Allison. She has a rich, powerful voice that basically drowns his thin vocals out. Don't believe all that AI hype.

Adam's voice is powerful. His rendition of WLL is just as or more powerful than Plants. Plant (I love him) had some "pitchy moments, dawg" as Randy would say.

Believe it or not, I'm not a hater. I really wanted this guy to be the real deal until I saw his youtube videos. I was really disappointed when I saw him with Citizen Vein. I saw why the band didn't go anywhere: their lead singer couldn't deliver the goods. The band had a cool sould, but Adam doesn't have enough bass in his voice to hang with them. He's a one-trick pony with that high pitched vocal style. Very limited vocally.

MsSwwood, I have been reading Lillian18 comments on here, this is the first time I have seen these comments. First, I think she is a "he" because he uses the word "dude" to refer to Adam, and that is likely coming from a male, I doubt a female would say that.
Also, I think that Lillian could possible be one of the Idols that didn't win. It's a hunch....but I have a good idea who it is, really, and this is based on something I heard Adam say in an interview about the group he is touring with....

Adam's better than Zep, better, better, better. But I think Plant is OKAY with that. Didn't you realize that they are funny about who they let sing their songs. Led Zep was SO IMPRESSED by ADAM's SINGING, that they GAVE him SPECIAL PERMISSION to sing the song on IDOL. Something they'd never granted before. And, look, he still gets to sing it on the tour. So OBVIOUSLY the ROCK GODS OF OLDEN must APPROVE of ADAM!!!! Yeah!!!! So who are you to judge?

Adam Lambert with The Citizen Vein "Beyond The Sky" , Adam Lambert Turning On with The Citizen Vein, Adam Lambert The Zodiac Show Crawl Thru Fire. Adam co-wrote all these rock songs with his band way before AI. So go look at these on you tube before spouting anymore of your ignorant, non-knowing, non-sense. He did these songs for the ART of it.
