  • I love these electromechanical movements. Turning fork vibration into rotary movement is just sick stuff.

  • I think the time goes faster on right one... Or is it just illusion?

  • One is battery powered while the other is spring or mechanically powered. The battery powered quartz will be more accurate, but the spring powered is more durable, finely crafted and more collectable. Seiko is still makes the spring powered watches, Seiko 5s, that can be purchased for less than $70 new.

  • Actually, both watches are battery powered, but the Accutron uses a vibrating tuning fork to mechanically advance the hands rather than a quartz watch, which delivers impulses to a stepper motor, usually once a second (makes the battery last longer).

  • @gmlasam

No they are both battery powered. The Accutron 214 has a battery driven tuning fork movement, Find out what an Accutron 214/218 IS before you go telling people.

  • look at that sweeping second hand!

    isn't that sweet? =D

    gotta love it

  • Nice, They do make them today but they have swiss movements. i love my Belize and practically stole it new for 150 on ebay. its not as cool as my grandads old 64 Accutron, but a Bulova still

  • Nice Watch ! / 5 Stars

  • I'd like to see the Soviet version of this movement, the Slava 387 "Transistor"...
