Racist government, whatever Labor or Liberal. All racial! It doesn't make any differences - message from a New Zealand PR who was has Chinese citizenship.
I'm glad Howard did away with the nauseating word "multiculturalism". It shows he was listening to Australians because every survey taken has proven that the vast majority of Australians are against the country being split into little ethnic groups. How can he say Bennelong has a "diverse mix" when all the people there are from Asia?
umm ye sick umm at least i care about my country and you are right im embrassing myself coz i am. im like bashing the living shit out of you. no one agrees with you your a left wing bastard that strikes about nothing and you cant spell but ye of course im embrassing myself
oh fucking shut up we let you bastards come here respect our way of life or get the hell out. bring all the lebs with you HOW DARE YOU pauline hanson is a very good women and she scared with me about these bastards tacking over the place
remember WE GREW HERE AND YOU FLEW HERE live our life or fuck off
Australians are racist and Australia does not belong to them, they are criminals who hijack this land from the indigenous, one day we will bring them all to Court for all the crimes and attrocities they caused.
I will never, ever, vote for John Howard! Of course, the fact I live in California and have no voting rights in Australia has something to do with it.
I'm not pro-Howard, but don't union groups always bang on about immigrants taking Australian jobs? I bet your average blue-collar Aussie red neck labor voter wouldn't be pro-immigration.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Pathetic! he can speak manderin? great! he MUST be leader then. what we are seeing in the west now is the way immigration and immigrants are dictating government policy, driving political correctness and destroying nation hood.
um... isn't Rudd's ability to speak mandarin a draw card more for trade relations with China? Y'know, the whole "economic growth" band wagon that John Howard campaigns on?
I dont its so much about him being a great leader because of it as a great representative of multiculturalism and a spokesperson for Chinese Australians. You cannot learn a language without being forced to learn about a culture too. I see nothing wrong with that, and can totally understand how that would draw in votes from the asian community.
Ignorance is a people's own undoing. The sooner Australia (and, really, Europe and America) realize that the world has changed, the better they'll be for it. It's good to know that Australians have voted wisely this time.
Asia has risen. Three-fifths of humanity is Asian and now it is the unquestioned economic engine of the world. The future is Asia the past was Europe. Australia must strategically re-align, it can't stay "white."
There is some truth in what you are saying, and yes, the west does need to realise the world is changing. My point is that minorities have a great deal of political power in countries in the west.
For the UK, its Islamic migrants who dictate policy to politicians who need every vote to keep their jobs and not their convictions. And this for me, is wrong.
I disagree that minorities are dictating policy, for if they did, the UK would not have gone along with the US in invading and occupying Iraq, for example.
In representative democracies, politicians must represent the views of their constituents-- otherwise, you might as well have dictatorships where powerful politicians can go by their convictions all they want.
Yet again you are right and make a valid point. However, at the time, the majority of the people in the UK, and I'm talking grass roots, working class, did not entirely support the war, nor did they object.
When I talk about minorities dictating policy, I mean to say that this is how it has become, maybe even as a result of the war, which has become extremely unpopular, not because working class people see the UK being involved as wrong or inmoral
but because people now feel that Iraq is not worth one British soldiers life. Recent news story's in the UK describe the immigration debate as a sensitive issue, I dont understand to whom, and why this can possibly be a sensitive issue, but for immigrants themselves, who now thanks to our weak politicians, who would gladly sacrifice their own culture and history for a vote, are now polling and voting in who gives them what they want.
And this is dangerous for the UK because extremists are being allowed in, and I'm talking BNP here who would like to rid England of the liberty we enjoy and replace it with some sort of whit power counry, no thanks!
how interesting! I'm a somewhat atypical USA citizen, myself, and I love Al Jazeera because it's always telling me about stuff I'm totally ignorant about! Thanks for posting!
