He's not a goalscorer but even good centre backs do not know how to cope with him, and it's not like he's a well kept secret - that is a measure of his ability. Let's not forget he was pretty much the only English player who actually performed against Brazil in Japan, the only one to emerge from England's failed qualification for Euro 2008 with his credentials intact. Heskey is the embodiment of the triumph of the system over the individual and English football is better for it.
