Would be nice if electrostatic damage was visible and immediate like that but unforuntatelly, it's not. It usually happens silently and can manifest weeks or months later.

The "USB spark" happened to me once. With a printer cable. On a MSI board. I was lucky.

ok so i have an asus mother board working on my computer but have not installed the drivers. is it worth it to add some softwear just to clock your cpu or check proformance?

I would never have imagined that a USB plug could hold enough static electricity to fry the southbridge. Maybe if the guy was shuffling his feet and then somehow touched the metal before he plugged it in, maybe.

Asus is a good brand though.

That's amazing, every motherboard should have one.

I've ruined my Laptops USB port when I touched the connected USB mouse & ZAPPED it with electrostatic discharge.
