  • what a performance

  • the real shit

  • The man is a proud servant of the US

  • This is played daily in my house. Makes me cry. he seems so alone up there.

  • This is played daily in my house. Makes me cry.

  • would love to see merle and hank jr duet or a session...

  • Disrespect this cover and you get buckshot.

  • There is only one HANK. his son is very good But Hank ser is the greates there was Thomas Haverstock

  • if yall all give a fuck about how "racist" hank is, why do you listen to his music, muchless enough to disect it into something you dont like fuck off. you and obama go play with yourselves. us country boys dont care, alabamas in the SOUTH, where the capitol should be,cause nobody likes a damn yank anyways. if it offends you, you need a history lesson and to learn to type another artists name in your youtube search.no offense, just life. its all opinion, not racisim.get a life and a history book

  • @goodolboy171 im not gonna defend racism, or segregation or prejiduce, but i will say that if the capitol were in the south there would be less corruption, more constitution and less regulation. imagine if popcorn sutton were president. except im afraid we'd still have senseless wars. if anyone starts bitching about how im a liberal or a pussy for not wanting war, ill just ignore u. god forbid we let the rest of the world do as they please. the reason we are at war with the "terrorists"continued

  • Bocephus>ESPN. End of story.

  • NOTE TO THE WORLD - this IGNORANT EGOTISTICAL man does NOT represent those of us Southerners who are educated, who do NOT live in a time warp, who have the GOOD SENSE not to take pride in our past moral transgressions. He's representative of an antiquated mindset that continues to give The South a bad reputation. This isn't the JIM CROW era anymore and his 'Rebel' rhetoric is blatant RACISM. I am a Caucasian, a native Southerner and I am APPALLED that ANYONE would support what he espouses!!!

  • @TheRutledgest seriously suck a dick, you came to this page to proclaim a point to get attention, nothing more.

  • @TheRutledgest Im APPALLED that you told everyone your a southerner because that makes people all think we are all as ignorant as you. Im a highly educated southerner and I understand what he stands for even if you do not.And it isnt racism, its the simple way of life and the foundations America was built upon that has nearly disappeared from us in this time.I hope you at least listened to the song before you typed your NOTE TO THE WORLD though.

  • @skywalkerjla My assertion that HW, Jr. is a racist is well-documented, based in part, on the lyrics of many of his songs (ex: "If The South Woulda Won"). He doesn't represent the South well, he reinforces the stereotype that we are a stagnant backwater full of ignorant, ill-bred hicks who continue to lament that we unjustly lost the Civil War, 156 YEARS later. HW, Jr. is an inarticulate, boorish, hostile man who exemplifies some of the worst charactistics of the human condition.

  • @skywalkerjla These lyrics, from his song "If The South Woulda Won", smack of racism -

"We'd all learn Cajun cookin’ in Louisiana,

And I'd put that capitol back in Alabama.

We'd put Florida on the right track ‘cause, we'd take Miami back,

And throw all them pushers in the slammer".

"Put that capitol back in Alabama"...where it was before the Confederacy was defeated and slavery was abolished, but that's just coincidential, nothing to do with RACISM. WHO ARE YOU KIDDING???

  • @TheRutledgest k ill touch on each one.You must not have ever eaten cajun food from Louisiana or you wouldnt mention that.Im from louisiana as a matter of fact. i guess we could each the food those cajuns from the northern states cook .wth?I wont go into a civil war debate but its known fact that the union had just as many slaves as the south.Miami is full of illegal immigrants and drug dealers. Ive been there alot with work. Its southern pride man, not racism. But to each his own.

  • @skywalkerjla The line about Cajun food is part of the verse, that's all. It's fruitless to try to have an intelligent conversation where intelligence is lacking (on your part)...

  • @TheRutledgest I agree its a waste to debate with you and this will be the last time I reply. I will just say that the intelligence part is ridiculous. We all have a right to speak our opinions which is what this whole Hank Jr debate is about. You have your right to say what you think and I have mine. Just because we dont agree, doesnt mean anything.Thanks.I enjoyed it

  • Hey dipshit why dont you do the world a favor tonight and sleep with a plastic bag tied around your head then you can suffocait on the hot air that spews out of your uneducated ass

  • CHILLS!!!

  • best cover ever!

  • Hank's version Awesome!!!

  • Hank jr reminds me of a time in my life when things were easy and pure.He is my most favorite country singer of all time and is in my opinion the definition of country music. If you don't like Hank jr.....well you can kiss are ass!!!!!!

  • I saw a Merle version where he sang, "when a girl could still cook...and chop wood!"

  • @Carubery damn right brotha i here ya bo

  • no one better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Probably

  • I didn't think I could like anyone other than Merles version, but I gotta say I do like this also. He is one of the last of the old time rough living country boys.

  • Best reaction- "when a girl could still cook ,and still would "

  • "back when the country was strong" that line says it all

  • Bocephus for president!!!

  • fuck merles like 74 i think and still kicking ass david allan coe is still out kicking ass

  • "I wish coke was still cola and a joint was a bad place to be" psshhhhh whatever Hank. How much coke and how many joints you think ole Hank has smoked in his life. For God sake he ran around with Waylon and Willie so you know he did blow and smoked a shit ton of weed.

  • Hank Jr is the best entertainer there has ever been!! Elvis was nothing more then a Hank Sr wanna be!!!!!! Nobody and I mean nobody commands the stage and audience like Hank Jr does. Whatever "it" is Hank has "it". When he sings a sad song he rips your heart right out of your chest then when he rocks and gets rowdy he puts it back and partys right with you. He's the only man that can sing someone elses classic and totally make it his own. Hank Jr is the best ever hands down!!!!

  • Of course Merle heard the song you idiots, he was at the same show singing "it 's such a pretty world today". Cracker Barrel songs of the year 2006. Love Merle but Hank knocked this ball out of the park!!!!!

  • @daddy971016 Ur saying hank sang it better than Merle? excuse you? i like hank as much if not more than you but this is Merles song, cant beat him.

  • @cowboyfan1113 well jamey johnson sings it better than both of them

  • hank Jr. has done better but it's still a classic...Why? Did any of you forget he's an outlaw, and that's why he's great...He don't care and nobody will ever tell him how to sing a song....He's done been down that road and thank God he came out of that shadow....He playing like he's sitting around a campfire with his buddys....This Icon will be miss when he's gone....Die hard fan allways

  • @ThePBP247- Hell fucking yeah brother!

  • Hank jr is the man the myth the legend hes the origanl bad ass this is a merle haggard song but hes just payin tribute to another good singer but good ol hank hes the best u got all these fuckin newbies out there i tell you what they couldnt match a patch on ol hanks ass he is the man and if u dont like it KISS HIS AND MY ASSS!!!

  • @purehankjr198426 agree with everything u said except calling him the "original bad ass", have u ever heard of a man named Waylon, ask JR who the original bad ass was

  • he is 60 you jack asses

  • @kinghank111- He's 61 now and still kicking fuckin ass.

  • wow this sucks. i couldn't finish the video. MERLE HAGGARD FOR EVER!!!!!

  • Amen.

  • My dad can beat up your dad...Come on guys, good god. Hank jr is by far my favorite ever but Merles right up there w/ waylon and george and conway and dave coe marty robbins...There all great. Just a matter of opinion. I like merles original better than this but i think hank's versoin of "footlights" blows merles out of the water. Isnt there better shit to argue about?

  • Is that all you can play is the guitar....whoopee!!! I wouldn't tell anyone that. From someone who can play three instruments and play them damn good....you can kiss mine and Hank's ass. If you need further clarification on how I like you to pucker, just let me know, ok Pugsley? And just to let your ignorant ass know....you ain't shit. You know it, I know it and so does your mom. By the way, tell her I said hello. She'll know what you mean.

How you like me now, asshole?

  • I love Hank but he destroyed this song,if Merle heard that he would get sick.....I almost did.

  • @CarlG78 Bocephus does this 100 times better than Merle could ever think of doing. Of course, more talent equals mo better than good. I am sure Merle has heard this and just wished he had that much talent. Luke the Drifter Jr. is the greatest country singer ever. And that includes the Possum and Conway.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I love Hank Jr,he has always been one of my favorites but there is no way at all he dose this as good as Merle!!!Hank jr has a good voice and I like his type of music better than Conway but again Hank Jr can not sing anywhere near as good as Conway...Conway had one of the best if not the best voice in country music. If you cant hear that than you dont listen to too much classic country...and I dont just mean the words of the song,I mean the singing and the music!!!!!!

  • @CarlG78

    1) Hank Jr.

    2) Conway Twitty

    3) George Jones

Top 3 with Merle no where in sight.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Thats your opinion...Thats what makes music great its for everyone!!!! I personally have a hard time saying who I like better,I go song by song.......but I would have to say WAYLON is probably my number ONE...How could you not have even mentioned WAYLON!!!!!!!!

  • @CarlG78 Because Waylon is not in my top 3. He is in my top 5 or 6. Listen, I am not disrespecting any singer like you disrespected Hank. Those are my 3 greatest in country. The greatest entertainer of music in any form was and still is Elvis. Your comment towards Hank was intended to belittle him. Don't do that on a Hank Jr. video because Jr. has done too much for country and sold way too many records for that.

    Bocephus for President

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and have been in many bands. Many of the first songs I learned to play were Hank Jr songs I know what he has done.Like I said he has always been one of my favs. But he did a bad job on this song.He drags the words out way too much like we all know he dose when he gets drunk.Hank Jr is and always will be one of my favs. butI dont like the way he did this song I think It SUCKED and if you dont like that too damn bad isnt it

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE i hear what your sayin dude and just remember you dont have to prove anything to anyone on youtube alright your comments are meant for those who respect them

  • I love the way Hank did this song!!!

  • My favorite Hank Youtube video !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Voice is just AWESOME!!
