The diffrence between F.P.S. and manhunt2 is that you can kill people in various diffrent ways and if it was like manhunt1 then it shouldn't be banned

Well said, Mirrors is 30x more violent than any Manhunt game, but they ban Manhunt 2? Well, it's almost imposable to buy a AO rated game... ALMOST, but it's difficult... I mean very difficult. There is alot of things I agree on this, but mainly this one: If a kid gets a hold of a game, M rated for example, it's really the parents fault for buying the game for them. Some parents are aware of the ratings; but some aren't aware. I can see why MH would be banned too, too realistic killing that anyone can do, even as a kid. At a young age, say 14 below to some, anything can influence a habit in a snap, even if it's a video game it could be one of the triggers of an influence in one's life.

I agree completely. I'm 14 and i personally wouldn't want to play this game. I think it's way too brutal -- and that's coming from someone who owns GoW1 and 2, Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden 2, Prototype, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Rising, Dead Space, Fallout 3, Crackdown, and plenty of other violent games. I don't have a problem with violent games, because it's obviously just a game, and it doesn't influence me at all. I dont want to play this game, but I dont think it causes kids 2 become violent.

Games like this get banned because enough misinformed people misinterpret the results of psychological studies on violence and claim that kids are going to imitate it and murder all their friends.. Unfortunately, theres at least one kid out there whos parents never taught them well enough that killing is wrong, and they go and take inspiration from the game on how to shiv their friend. i still dont get why they banned manhunt 2 and censored executions, when in The Punisher on ps2 (even here in AUS) they didn't ban it anywhere from what I know, nothing was censored, and it had some of the most brutal executions, like cutting someone in half with a benchsaw? blowing someone up with a grenade launcher and their guts go everywhere? yet they still ban this, while other extremely violent games even like gears of war 2 aren't banned!

i agree with almost everything u r saying, however the one thing that was wrong is that, while the AO version does include sexual content as well, Manhunt 2 was one of the few videogames which actually received its AO rating due to extreme violence...supposedly there is a castration scene in the uncut version, which has been deleted from the M rated console versions. But FINALLY they have released it as an AO Rated download just a couple weeks ago.
oh and also, there is censorship with films as well. The same thing that goes on with the M and AO ratings for videogames, applies to the difference between an R and NC-17 rated movie. R is 17+ or with adult guardian and NC-17 used to mean no children under 17 admitted(now they changed it to meaning No One 17 And Under)-so in essence, the C in the rating means nothing anymore. but just as consoles refuse to license AO rated games, 99% of movie theatres will not play NC-17 films. but there is...

It is OK to release the film in the uncut form on DVD, as long as it says Unrated...but if they actually post the NC-17 on the box, then videostores like blockbuster won't carry it(even tho it is the same exact film-and not appropriate for anyone under 18). Luckily i am still able to see all my uncut horror movies(usually) on unrated DVD, since u r able to rent them. But it doesnt work the same way with games 4 some reason. Videogames are not allowed to be "Unrated"...so its all hypocracy.
@BiggestDoucheEver I think it has something to do with the fact that god of war is loosely based around greek mythology which has become a key part in the studys of ancient society. creating controversy over god of war on the grounds of its content would make people who studied it look bad. then the 9 o clock news would have to deal with university professers and students with PhD's and such so its harder for TV shows to effectively manipulate them than it is with the average gaming fan

I gotta say, store clerks are not pretty smart sometimes.
For example when Resident Evil 4 was released to PS2 in 2005, I walked to a local gamestore and picked up the game from the shelf and walked to checkout counter. I showed the game to clerk and he didn't ask my ID. And I was about 16 years old! Clerk sold me a +18 rated game, and I was a minor!

There is alot of things I agree on this, but mainly this one: If a kid gets a hold of a game, M rated for example, it's really the parents fault for buying the game for them. Some parents are aware of the ratings; but some aren't aware. I can see why MH would be banned too, too realistic killing that anyone can do, even as a kid. At a young age, say 14 below to some, anything can influence a habit in a snap, even if it's a video game it could be one of the triggers of an influence in one's life.

gta san andreas was rated ao because of an acsessable unfinished minigame called hot coffee so rockstar san diego made gta san andreas second edition that had a minigame related called cold coffee it still had sexual material but minimal the orignal had nudity added maybe because of graphic sexual content i thinks its crazy that esrb still releashed manhunt 2 after all its stupid violence who in the world would enjoy manhunt 2 its REALLY GORY just dont get it .most ao games are simply retarded

manhunt 2 was pretty much banned because of 2 things
1: nintendo Wii
2: the 3rd episode where you are in the bondage club, that led to sexual content issues on the rating so it was seen as worse than manhunt 1
what I still dont get is why manhunt was ported onto the nintendo Wii in the first place

I agree completely. I'm 14 and i personally wouldn't want to play this game. I think it's way too brutal -- and that's coming from someone who owns GoW1 and 2, Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden 2, Prototype, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Rising, Dead Space, Fallout 3, Crackdown, and plenty of other violent games. I don't have a problem with violent games, because it's obviously just a game, and it doesn't influence me at all. I dont want to play this game, but I dont think it causes kids 2 become violent.

Games like this get banned because enough misinformed people misinterpret the results of psychological studies on violence and claim that kids are going to imitate it and murder all their friends.. Unfortunately, theres at least one kid out there whos parents never taught them well enough that killing is wrong, and they go and take inspiration from the game on how to shiv their friend. i still dont get why they banned manhunt 2 and censored executions, when in The Punisher on ps2 (even here in AUS) they didn't ban it anywhere from what I know, nothing was censored, and it had some of the most brutal executions, like cutting someone in half with a benchsaw? blowing someone up with a grenade launcher and their guts go everywhere? yet they still ban this, while other extremely violent games even like gears of war 2 aren't banned!

i agree with almost everything u r saying, however the one thing that was wrong is that, while the AO version does include sexual content as well, Manhunt 2 was one of the few videogames which actually received its AO rating due to extreme violence...supposedly there is a castration scene in the uncut version, which has been deleted from the M rated console versions. But FINALLY they have released it as an AO Rated download just a couple weeks ago.

Part 2-but there is a loophole with films, that is not there with videogames. If a film company does not want the NC-17 rating attached to their DVD or video, they do this: release the film in a censored form theatrically(to meet the requirements of the R rating), and then release 2 versions on DVD...a rated version, and an unrated version(and the unrated usually contains whatever violence or sex was cut out to avoid the X or NC-17 rating).i know it makes no sense, but thats how screwed up it is

It is OK to release the film in the uncut form on DVD, as long as it says Unrated...but if they actually post the NC-17 on the box, then videostores like blockbuster won't carry it(even tho it is the same exact film-and not appropriate for anyone under 18). Luckily i am still able to see all my uncut horror movies(usually) on unrated DVD, since u r able to rent them. But it doesnt work the same way with games 4 some reason. Videogames are not allowed to be "Unrated"...so its all hypocracy.

@BiggestDoucheEver I think it has something to do with the fact that god of war is loosely based around greek mythology which has become a key part in the studys of ancient society. creating controversy over god of war on the grounds of its content would make people who studied it look bad. then the 9 o clock news would have to deal with university professers and students with PhD's and such so its harder for TV shows to effectively manipulate them than it is with the average gaming fan
