  • Why are they so hesitant to the question? the FACT is evolution is a theory which has ALLOT more information backing it up, and also has not be proven wrong. So in a heart-beat i would say yes. Also there isn't two sides of the 'story', there is also other beliefs that are not taught in school, such as satanism, so why should any other religions deserve to be taught like 'christianity'. Humans put so much meaning into things, and are scared of the idea of them having no real purpose.

  • "I'm a huge science geek, so I like to believe in the big bang theory."

IS THAT WHAT QUALIFIES AS A "HUGE SCIENCE GEEK" IN AMERICA? ACCEPTING BASIC SCIENTIFIC PRINCIPLES?

  • teaching evolution alongside of creationism is like teaching horse alongside of unicorn

  • I'm glad Miss Campanella of California ended up winning this pageant. Not terribly eloquent here but describing herself as a "huge science geek" gives her a lot of points for awesomeness, IMHO.

  • we just completed our new sci fi movie called Evolution Creek giving power to both sides of evolution and creation, check it out and decide for yourself! search for Evolution Creek and check out our trailer

  • evolution and religion? the expression apple and oranges wouldn't even help here. i'd have to make up another one: sun and water. guess which one is the sun? let me answer that: evolution. put water near the sun.

  • @haudace

then again i gotta slap myself in the face because water is actually useful.

  • @haudace

How about Apples and Santa Claus?

  • Guys don't you diss Britanny Toll at 9:50. One chick said something right for once.

  • These chicks are so dumb I'm having a hard time imagining them naked.

  • The future slaves to the corporate machine have spoken.

  • Evolution is just as stupid as creationism, The girls are pretty with their makeup on but the art of makeup has now advanced to the point that it is much closer to a disguise. This is obvious just by seeing women with and without makeup. We live in a phony world and you would have to be an idiot to put much value on a pretty face or body. You would, however, fit in very well with the shallow structure of our society. Beauty pageants are sad.

  • @TotalImplosion

"Evolution is just as stupid as creationism"

    Because...

  • @Bluebelle9289 Study the work of Dan Winter. A good start is The Galactic History of DNA on YT.

  • @TotalImplosion

That doesn't explain how evolution is just as stupid as creationism.

  • @Bluebelle9289 If you do your homework, you will find out how ridiculous both are. Darwinian evolution is simply a joke.

  • @TotalImplosion

"Darwinian evolution is simply a joke."

    Because...

  • @TotalImplosion

You made the claim that evolution was stupid. It's your job to explain why. If you can't explain it then you're just another bratty creationist fundie who doesn't like to hear the truth.

  • red state VS blue state... we know which states has the higher IQ

  • @sinmantky The purple state.

  • they should replace religious studies with food class, that way i would've been able to cook when i will go to uni

  • I only watched the video all the way through because they are so fit

  • Can they not win unless the support creationist ideas?

    cheers

  • Lots of dumb answers, but, let's face it - it is not an appropriate question for a fucking beauty contest.

  • It's not like there are two sides to the story. If you're going to teach the biblical story of creation, you are then obligated to teach every other religion's version of the creation of the world as well.

  • There was at least one girl here who actually sounded intelligent. The California girl I believe. The one that said she's a science nerd. More like her please.

  • False dichotomy overload

  • How long would a creationism class last? "God made everything the way it is today! *it's an observable untruth, but hey... THE END"

  • Macro Evolution is not science. Science must be observable and repeatable. Macro Evolution is neither, it is part of a religion known as materialism( the belief that spirit does not exist therfore there must be a material explanation for everything. Most of the girls got it right; yes, lets teach the religious belief of evolution along with other religious theories and let the kids be exposed to both.

  • @rharris101

    "Macro Evolution is not science."

You are correct - that is why scientists never use the term. The only people who do are creationists. All evolution proceeds with tiny, tiny incremental steps. But guess what happens when you get lots and lots of tiny steps over billions and billions of years?

I know I am asking you to think something through, but go for it - you may end up actually understanding rather than parrotting nonsense.

  • @rharris101

Macro Evolution is called "speciation" in the real world. We have seen it, literally countless times, not just in bacteria either. I hate how you people have the right to vote...

  • OK, girls, we have to come up with one brain cell. Just one. Alright? Let's get to it, girls. One. Ooooonnnnneeeee. Girls?

  • So pretty but so dumb..

  • "creation-ti..nism"

  • It's not a matter of belief, evolution doesn't work on beliefs. It works on facts and evidence, and that's why evolution is a fact. it's part of biology. And as for these idiots, their beauty makes up for their ignorance, but sadly they are very idiotic.

  • Anyone knocking science fails to register the fact that the only source of knowledge we have of God or Gods is from humans. A human preaches, a human prints the Bible or Koran or w/e.

  • 4:00. I believe evolution should be mentioned in schools. priceless.

  • 1:55. She was alright.

  • Comment removed

  • Even with my limited knowledge of American culture, I was mostly able to predict on what side her axe was going to fall as soon as I saw what state she was from. Interesting.

  • Sorry I shouldn't have said you people, I meant specifically the owner of the video

  • Lol read the description, the guy is all neutral with not equating scientific theory with belief and then goes right on to label religion as a source of ignorance in the world. You people are decieved, science is sold as neutral, at its core is disbelief.

  • @NMoulana

fact: scientific theory does not equal belief.

fact: religion is a source of ignorance in the world.

You use your last sentence as some sort of slur on science in general but ironically all scientists would agree with you and wear disbelief with a badge of honour. If u know anything about the scientific method u would know that a scientist comes up with a hypothesis, and then sets about falsifying it. When that fails he/she accepts the hypothesis. The ultimate in open-mindedness.

  • "How do you teach children about evolution when so many cultures have their own beliefs"

Holy crap these women are frighteningly undereducated.

  • miss kentucky doesn't even know what evolution actually is

  • creationatism... that explains this video

  • You should never teach something that is false.

Evolution is a baseless false belief, it is not science.

    watch?v=HoKVVYJ8KJM

  • Evolution is fantasy not science.

    watch?v=HoKVVYJ8KJM

  • Why is this a question? You might as well ask if arithmetic should be taught in schools.

  • Their dumbness is disgusting!

  • Yes let's teach everything,Norse mythology, greek, roman, egyptian, and biblical mythology along with all the rest.In a Mythology class.Teach the fact of evolution in science class.

  • @knightone57 true true, but the idea of biblical mythology in mythology class would anger a few people

  • @mrlegojav98 You cannot please everyone.

  • Remember that rhey are all trying to give answers that will assist their cause. Obviously they all want to avoid giving offense to anyone. In that context I think they are answering intelligently. Consider how you would advise them to answer if you were coaching them.

  • This is a completely false dichotomy. It's not science on one side and creationism/ID on the other. Creationism is NOT science; it is informed by the Bible and religious dogma. I'm not advocating that we should tell children what to believe, but the concept of Evolution is derived from a pursuit of knowledge based on experimentation and evidence. Teach Creationism in Sunday School if you want to, not in the public school system.

  • I think it should be thought that Miss-Whatever-elections are about bodies without brains

  • dang miss connecticut, way to have an opinion haha

  • i like how they all say " i think" when they clearly dont know how to think... lol

  • oh and Ms. Vermont too

  • @7pablomarmol

What the balls is she doing with her hand, though?

  • Ms New Mexico, and Ms Massachussets are awesome

  • More the reason they should only be judged by their tits and asses.

  • PS Miss Utah demonstates the subtle dangers of having an intellect in the USA...

  • I'm speechless, on the one hand I want to be abusive (and clever and witty) about how unintelligent the majority of these woman are (and also how that relates to and represents America in general) and on the other hand I really don't want to deride these people (as woman) because I don't believe that is a postivie approach but they are as dumb as shit as a group and it scares me because I can see their reflection in the American media and in many Americans I have met)...

  • The stupid, it burns!!!

  • Please, please tell me this is a set-up. Someone. anyone!!

  • Keep people stupid, and baffled and you can control them - - - It is not their fault, that they don't know better - - - - But - - - - - Come on - - - - in this day and age, this is sad, very sad, that they keep kids stupid - - - even thou people who do make school programs actually know better, but choose to keep your kids stupid

  • Why are they teaching religion at schools at all?

God is a fantasy figure, evolution is a a solid theory.

So if you belive in a fantasy it should be a privat mattar.

  • I can't believe that some of these idiots believe that students should get to decide what they want to believe in.

That is like saying that 2 + 2 = 5 because I choose to believe it.

Evolution is FACT ... thats it ... end of argument.

  • The, such as the Africa, such as.

  • I think that the processes of evolution have been the work of God over the ages. If there was a video camera taping the making of Adam, we would not see the actual hand of God making Adam, but rather the scientific processes taking place. Same thing with the formation of the earth over time.

  • Are there any intelligent answers from Miss USA candidates?

  • Bimbos!

  • Should gravity be taught in schools?

Well, I personally believe it should be taught in schools, but i think people should see different perspectives on it. Personally that's not my belief, but everybody has their own beliefs. Some might be offended by it, but you know, people should know all sides of the story.

  • Not sure why these women are talking about religion and evolution as if they have to be seperate, many scientists who look into evolution are christians themselves. It is possible that there is a god AND we are a product of evolution.

  • i would like to meet a creationist.. and just ask "why.. why in GODS do you believe in that fary tale (phun intended)" he would answer "because I believe that... " and I would stop him right there and say "there's your problemen"

  • sad.....!

  • I'm only halfway through this video and I'm already a misogynist.

  • Miss California was the only one I was glad to hear. I didn't get through the entire video cause of all the retarded answers

  • @moocows111111 "Miss California was the only one I was glad to hear." You might also be glad to know that she won. Mind you Miss Alabama came 3rd, or as they say in the pageant world, 2nd runner up. The girl who came 2nd doesn't believe in evolution, but at least thought it should be taught, work that one out if you can.

Being from the UK it still amazes me that so many Americans don't accept evolution. There must be something seriously wrong with the teaching of science in the US.

  • @GuillemotWatcher AH that's good to know that she won :D

I don't quite remember but I think it was somewhere between 30-50% of Americans don't "believe in" evolution. I don't think there is something wrong with how the US is teaching science. But rather it is the mindset and influence that people receive from their communities. Somehow we need people people to get interested in science again. It's been awhile since we had a cultural influence. Btw I'm from Canada. It's similar to the US.

  • @moocows111111 You were right to question me, but even 30% is an appalling indictment of the US educational system. How can they allow nearly a third of their children to enter adult life rejecting the most important theory in biology? I'm truly at at loss to understand how an otherwise advanced culture would revert to goat header understanding, unless there are political, cultural, social & financial motivations driving them. Control, money & power are at the root of this daft thinking.

  • @GuillemotWatcher It's pretty sad to be honest. I'm up for people living life the way they want to. But how are we supposed to advance further and faster with this kind of mindset that this big chunk of the community has? Anyways, we know that religion is dying as generations progress. I just hope I get to see the day where people finally open their eyes and truly help humanity to reach its full potential instead of catering on religion.

  • Why do we ask these people about their opinions? This show is about looking at pretty faces and boobs. I don't care how smart/stupid you are or your opinion on our current social issues. Look pretty!

  • @thebiggestfgfan Yeah? Then you should burn in a fire.

  • @moocows111111

You should be slain by a thousand paper cuts to the eye, bitch.

  • @thebiggestfgfan Ok sure, At least I'm not a burden to society

  • @moocows111111

And I'm a burden on society because? I think ignorant beauty pagent contestants should keep their opinions to themselves because only 2 out of 50 answered correctly? Is that why? Interesting

  • @thebiggestfgfan That's how they show Miss America. They want to choose a contestant that can be a role model to others. It's not a beauty pageant, its just a pageant where people are selected for several criteria

eg: Looks, Intelligence, Leadership, Compassion, and Creativity. All you look for is for boobs and looks. But there is more to the show then physical appearance.

  • @moocows111111

If it was based off that criteria, they would be looking for intellectuals. Not babes. And we can obviously see here that they were NOT picking intellectuals by any means.

  • @thebiggestfgfan Wow read my post again.

  • @moocows111111

Uh, I did. And of the five criteria you listed, beauty pagents contestants seem to have only one. Maybe they have compassion but that's something irrelevant to this video.

  • @thebiggestfgfan " beauty pagents contestants seem to have only one" And they are the ones that get beaten by the other contestants that are down to earth.

  • @moocows111111

Well I won't argue that. The one that answered this question the best ended up winning. Kinda makes me think they gave this question for teh lulz

  • @thebiggestfgfan Anyways, I guess I should apologize, I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinions and views :/

  • dumbfounded.

  • Of course they dont know what evolution is! They dont teach that in BJ school!

  • Truly astounding, I'm amazed that each person equated evolutionary theory with religion as if they stand side by side.

Are these women really that devoid of education?

  • Comment removed

  • I think biblical creationism should be taught in schools. In my school, we have a class called "Global Mythology." It can be taught in that class, right between Roman and Greek mythology units..

Evolution, however. I didn't even know that this was even an issue? Of course it should be taught! It's science! Why would you not teach science in a science class? Or are we just hiding tested (and proven) scientific facts from students?

  • Comment removed

  • If evolution was true we would never get sick and will live thousends of years.

  • @levonet33

Like Noah (this boat guy) he lived 650 years and was potent to his end.

Yes they believe men can get 1000 years ago if god is not angry at them.

  • @levonet33 ... You forgot that other types of living organisms can evolve too. Lrn2Science.

  • eVOLUTION IS A COMMUNIST IDEOLOGY.Second law of thermodinamics is proof of that.

  • im not from american, but I cannot believe that evolution is not taught in some american schools.

HOW CAN EVEOLUTION NOT BE TAUGHT? IT's SCIENTIFIC FACT!

  • To all Miss USA contestants (except California, Conneticut and Vermont, who all get cookies and a star): Evolution via natural selection is not a matter of opinion, belief, faith, ideas, thought, sides of a story, theory, or anything of the sort. It is a matter of overwhelming evidence and physical fact.

  • @EVLWNS thank you! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST UNDERSTAND THAT!?!

i'm not necessarily religions, but i think you can believe in a high power, but understand that we and the world came to be as we are by evolution and nothing else. creationsim is the dumbest thing i ever heard...

  • @EVLWNS it is a matter of theory, and fact. just not theory as used in everyday talk

  • @wearestarstuffsagan Yes, but only in a colloquial sense. Indeed, in science the "framework" over which the evidence and fact is hung, that is the 'theory' in a scientific sense. But it is still the facts and evidences which matter most. The theory is just the collation of them.

  • @EVLWNS i would say the theories are more important, with simple facts we would not have medicine to treat illness, the theories allow us to put the facts to use but other than that, i agree, its just that creationists will quote mine people willingly if they saw you say it isnt a theory, but im sure you are already aware of the dishonesty of them

  • @wearestarstuffsagan Ah, but you misunderstand me: the theory is the facts, and the facts are the theory. In the same way that your body is your cells, and your cells are your body. But I also understand where you're coming from - individual facts do not make much sense unless put into the framework of a larger theory. Indeed, in science when facts don't mesh with theory, it's time to change the theory. And I am all too aware of creationists' unscrupulousness and treachery.

  • Should kids be taught that 2 + 2 = 4? I think that if it were to be taught in schools, then the kids should be allowed to form their own opinions and come to their own decisions. Teach both sides of the issue, etc. Miss S. Carolina from a few years ago, should be able to feel better about her answer after seeing this.

  • Everyone should have their opinion taught....WTF!!!!

  • Evolution is a communist ideology,zero science.

  • @levonet33 no it's not.

  • These girls just keep repeating this "teach both sides" bullshit, let the kids decide what to believe. So terrified of offending the religious retards. It's like they've been brainwashed by creationists before the interview...

  • @BerzergerR then again, they might just be saying that because they don't even know what evolution or creationism is in the first place. considering how dimwitted some of these chicks seem i wouldn't be surprised. lol

  • @XvXvX Perhaps, but they're Misses, their job is to look pretty, I don't even know why they're being asked about evolution to begin with. It's like asking the guys from Jackass about political science. The reason I even commented was because a remarkable number of them made the "teach both sides" argument which is a typical creationist tactic, and something you wouldn't have heard even once if they were, say, Swedish. Only in USA.

  • They just wanna they just wanna

they just wanna they just wanna

oh girls girls just wanna have fun

  • I am sooo tired of hearing "the theory of evolution" and that its a belief!

Science is not and never has been about belief!, its about having the guts to accept what is found wether you like it or not.

  • By all means, let's give equal time to flat-Earthers in in Geography lessons. :P

  • Too bad none of them said "Are you kidding me?.....it's a fucking fact.....of course it needs to be taught!"

  • The religious insisted that the earth was flat until it became so embarrassingly obvious that it was not that they changed their dogma.

The religious insisted that the earth was the centre of the universe until it became so embarrassingly obvious that it was not that they changed their dogma.

Eventually, the religious will see that evolution is so embarrassingly obvious that one day they will change their dogma to incorporate it.

  • And who says Miss USA contestants are idiots?

  • OMFG! 3:55 we should be knowledged on Evolution.

  • NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How were species living and reproducing if their reproductive system and other vital organs hadn't evolved yet? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic/biological similarities between species

  • Go miss California!

  • I love the way they all keep talking about teaching "both sides" — so this basically means the scientifically proven facts and their particular own creation story out of the thousands that have existed over the course of human history.

  • @jshowa4 And a big thumbs up to Miss Vermont for mentioning resistant bacteria!

  • 3:32 "I think everybody should have their opinion taught in school" - priceless.

  • @samwilson3d Ramen!

  • Must read article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS. Just google the title.

  • @Mogley52 Just read it - what a waste of time. It was a mix between misrepresentation, ignorance and conjecture.

If you are a creationist who likes to hear a scientific illiterate talk authoritatively about something they don't understand, then you will enjoy it.

  • I remember my high school teaching me how to write 3 paragraphs on how to argue when all I need is one sentence of facts. Most are an end result of failure in the education system. Opinions aren't facts.

  • 1:50 - 2:02 Wow thats just damn sexy!

  • OF COURSE, WE ALL NEED BALANCE, IF STUDENTS WERE THOUGHT ON CONTRACEPTION AND HOW TO USE CONDOM WHICH IS THE STOPPING OF EVOLUTION, THEY SHOULD ALSO TEACH THEM WHERE THE HELL WE ALL CAME FROM HEHHEHEHE

  • 7:18 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

  • is it just me or did the women who wanted evolution taught SOUND smarter when they talk?

  • The women who supports science instantly becomes more attractive.

  • It's really scary that this country has so much power in the world. Hopefully the Chinese will take over soon, else we're fucking doomed.

  • Evolution is fact and creation is NOT. proof of Evolution is the FACT of virus's evolve to become resistant to our medications and we have to come up with new meds to fight the NEW more resistant virus

  • These girls all need spankings.

  • If I were judging this contest, I would just give the award to the least-stupid contestant.

  • I WANT TO SLAP THEM! what's going on in america that these women don't know what evolution, theory or science is??

  • It's sad to see how many "miss USA" candidates don't know shit about the constitution, the fucking foundation of the USA. What a bunch of STUPID FUCKIN CUNTS!!! WTF

  • Just stand there. look pretty. And STFU!

    Better question.

What do you know about evolution?

I don't care what these nitwits think about something they clearly have no education in.

  • Miss Iowa "took evolution in college" and it "helped her gain perspective." But should be taught, as an elective.

  • miss vermont = best answer, very relatively speaking.

  • miss california FTW

  • I keep hearing "let the students decide!" Really? Is how we should be teaching our young people? Throw everything against the wall and see what sticks?

How about we apply this ridiculous policy to other subjects... We can teach students about the holocaust, then present the arguments of holocaust deniers and "let the students decide." In civics class, we can give equal time to the notion of anarchy, and "let the students decide."

Reality is not a consensus. Pretending otherwise is childish.

  • ...Of course. The one representing my state is the one that pissed me off the most. "Oh, I don't think about that, let someone else make the decision about what I should believe, what my children should be taught to believe..."

  • Evolution is (in the lay sense of the word) a fact. If your religious views cannot accommodate it, then your religious views are WRONG. It is not a matter of opinion. It is not a matter of "choosing your beliefs". It is a matter of teaching children the truth, or teaching them lies and ignorant foolishness.

  • Evolution was never even a topic in my school, and neither was any aspect of religion. It's not that evolution was avoided, but I just don't remember it coming up in any part of my science classes. At any rate, by way of pure logic, I have always believed in evolution. I hate how creationists insist that creationism gives them purpose, as if they couldn't possibly respect themselves without it.

  • this is the environment which produced Sarah Palin, what can one expect from human barbie dolls? world leaders??

  • Yes, God created the bitch for a purpose.

To wear high heels and bikinis.

  • When have we every let the kids decide what they want to believe in science?

    Thats whats religion is for.

  • the stupidity it burns

  • All I wanted to hear was one of these airheads saying it loud and clear: "Evolution must be taught in school, it's a fact.".

But that is obviously too much to ask for.

And to the people wanting to flame me for laccing it a fact, I can say right away that Evolution IS an observed fact. There are NO doubt in science about that. The THEORY of Evolution is the science describing the mechanics of the evolutionary process.

  • The ones that solely supported evolution were the hottest.

  • Watch closely, some of the heads start smoking. "Umm.. well I believe that the students should decide". Yeah, then students should be able to decide if astrology is a valid science. They gotta dumb down these questions to, "what color lip gloss should go with that gown?"

  • Their ignorance is as breath taking as their meat melons.
