I'm not against letting kids see what goes on in the world, as long as they're actually seeing what's happening. That's not what today's News is.
Also with SC, he's a subliminal analogy for God. I mean, really, "He knows when you are sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake!" Really, how much more fucking obvious can you get?
Second, he's the world's most prolific symbol of Capitalism, and I guarantee holds by far the record for most appearances in Commercials. This is rather ironic since his whole bit is giving stuff away for free [I.E. Socialism, at least according to Fox].
Technically, Santa is real, just not the all-powerful magic version we tell our kids about. The real Santa Claus has been dead for more than a thousand years. Amusingly, the real version of his story was that he threw some gold nuggets into the windows of two teenaged girls so they wouldn't have to become hookers. No kidding...
So, when I was a kid (8 years old), I figured out that Santa wasn't real. Once you see that kids get more toys than you, less toys or no toys at all, you begin to think if this guy is an asshole or not real at all. I came to the conclusion that he didn't exist because visiting every kid in one night is impossible. Believing in him was fun, I'm not going to lie about that, but if I believed in Santa in this economy, I would be really disappointed. It's basically providing false hope.
Speaking as a parent -- it really is up to parents to gauge the degree to which their kids can differentiate between fantasy and fact, and to use that gauge when dealing with issues like Santa, or Cartoons (can Bugs Bunny *really* hit Yosemite Sam on the head with an anvil?) Some kids are completely credulous, and it is mean to mislead them. Other kids have it all figured out by time they're 2: for them it's all fun. So there's no right or wrong answer, because issues like Santa are situational.
Learning that Santa isn't real can be a good lesson in critical thinking. It can be a good way to realize that parents sometimes lie, and that it's possible to believe very strongly in something that isn't actually true. That said, the newsperson did nothing wrong in telling the truth. In fact, it might help some children learn skepticism ealy. I used to be very much against the idea of telling kids Santa is real, but I've since come to realize that there's a lesson in it.
the worst thing about Santa is that he favors the rich. Think about it, the rich kid got a new bike and an xbox 360 and an island in the bahamas, and the poor kid got a pack of cigarettes.
For the record, I never had that horrible moment when I realized Santa wasn't real. All I remember is my Dad saying one Christmas: "You don't believe in Santy any more do you?" And he was right. I think I just gradually grew intelligent enough to realize that it wasn't even possible for him to exist. That's only my experience though.
im 15 and i believed in santa until i was like 11 lol.. i agree with you so much on this.. i remember feeling really stupid when i found out. i see no point in the whole santa thing at all and same goes with the tooth fairy and the easter bunny.. its almost like playing a joke with a childs mind and their gullibility and innocence.
I mostly agree with you. But what if having children believe an obvious load of shit for 8 years or so and then having their bubble burst was a constructive thing? It might foster a healthy skepticism that would stick with them for life. Just a thought.
My mom never told me that Santa is real. And she never told me that he is not real. I discovered on my own. And when I did I told my best friend about It. And she started crying. And my mom and her parents were called to school and I was told to never do that again. The next day I remember feeling more grown up and awesome because I knew something other kids in my school didn't xD .
You are right...there is no benefit to let kids have the fantasy, but there is no harm in it either...I want my kids to stay kids as long as possible, and having fantasy or make believe is all part of that...the tooth fairy, easter bunny, santa...it's all part of being a kid...(I know them all personally, so no fear) we live long enough as adults, with our jaded views of the world that I let my kids "believe" as long as they want...there's enough time in life to be an asshole adult!!
@madjak30 This isn't make-belief though, it's just belief. Make-belief is when the child knows full well that the teddy bear is nothing but a bunch of fluffy soft materials, but still pretends to talk to it anyway. I don't think it's harmful or beneficial to the child either, at least as far as I can see, but I just don't see the point in making them actually believe in a fantasy. They can have more than enough fun pretending.
@Scampfarmer I'm not making them believe, I'm just not doing anything to make them not believe. Yes, I read them the Night Before Christmas and watch the Christmas movies, so I am enabling the myth...but since they eventually find out, I don't see the harm in believing that there is some magic out there...my teenage daughter was bummed when she found out...not because we had deceived her, but because we broke the news to her before she wanted to...they can find out on their own.
@madjak30 Ya know, since it's such a popular social convention it probably is better to let your kids go along with it, instead of getting in arguments with other kids about whether Santa exists. :P Again I don't think it's harmful, I just don't agree with it, so I think we can agree to disagree here.
Lies like these can sometimes be beneficial. When kids relise that santa isn't real it teaches them that not everything people say is true and causes them to question other things. It can make them wise up and be less gullible in the future.
I'm not a fan of taking away that innocence from children. Education that's all fine but kids shouldn't be concerned with what's real and what's make believe, they'll learn that themselves over time. I think adults are like the disgruntled doctors. They are always stressed over something and can't really understand people anymore simply because they've "seen too much." People complain about problems they have no control over. We should take a page out of a child's book and just enjoy to enjoy.
I think my parents had me believing santa was real til i was about 7? i think someone at school told me he wasn't and i think i just pretended like i already knew, my world wasn't shattered or anything, i stilled loved christmas just as much, its not about a man in a red suit, even if your not religious, christmas is still a great time to celebrate family, giving, being happy and in all having a good time
I don't think having kids believe in Santa is wrong. I loved believing in Santa when I was a little kid. It made christmas so much fun. Even though I'm an atheist I still celebrate christmas. I didn't know it had anything to do with religion until I was like 12, I just use it as a time to be with family. If I ever have kids I'm definitely still going to celebrate christmas and tell them that santa brings presents. I'd rather my kids enjoy their young life while it lasts.
(As a Southern, I had to relearn how to speak when I went to college. This was one of those words.)
I live by logic and science as much as possible, so there's my answer. Baba Chaghaloo is just as much literature as religion is in my life and for those that experience it with me.
This video touches on a wider issue. Some Christmas traditions are part and parcel of cultures around the world. Children in Portugal are led to believe in the 3 wise men coming with gifts in January. In the Netherlands, children believe that Sinter Klaas lives in Spain. I agree that, in a world where children are adept with use of the internet. Telling them lies won't work. Imagine telling your child Santa is real and She/He already know otherwise!
@Elementer117 Yes, there isn't a reason not to be honest with them. Where babies come from is natural, scientific and very logical. There isn't a reason to pretend otherwise.
i don't think she mean tell them the whole process. Just tell them they come out of the mommy's stomach after she get married. That what i told my sister.
i loved the idea of santa when i was younger, i think its just a fun christmas thing for kids. same with the tooth fairy or the easter bunny, i loved that shit when i was younger. i wasnt emotionally scarred either when i found out all that wasnt real.
I remember being a bit sad... mostly because I knew i wouldnt get the crazy stuff i asked for in my secret letters to santa...and that my parents were probably reading them.
Up to this point you had my interest. Santa gives children a sense of fantasy and its my choice, not yours. Nor do you get to judge me for what I do with my children.
@timberwolf600 you are not giving your child a sense of fantasy if they actually believe it to be true. now if you tell your child it is make believe and that everyone is playing a game than that would be giving your child a sense of fantasy. telling your child that santa is real is just lying to them. i'm nineteen and i still play the game with my parents even though everyone in my household is over the age of fifteen. no one is telling you how to raise your child relax.
@timberwolf600 They'll find out eventually. What's worse, telling them santa isn't real or letting them find out you've been lying to them all of their lives? I'd rather be honest with my child (if or when I have one) - vs. blatantly lying to them. You can make believe and imagine without lying and falsifying reality.
@timberwolf600 I can judge you too. I can point a finger at you or at your gullible stupid children and laugh and there's not a thing you can do about it but grow some thicker skin, tell your kids the truth, or hide what you do like a pedophile hiding in a damp basement with internet access (tell them to keep their beliefs secret). The plus side is you get to judge me for being totally blunt. Admit it: it would SUCK if you were somehow PROHIBITED from HAVING bad thoughts about me.
Ahah...but would you tell these jokes in Saudi Arabia where your site is obviously available to the multitude of pulchritudinally(I just invented that word)denied males???.....OF COURSE NOT!!
Of course you are being sarcastic..and in private I would find this titillating banter but unfortunately this is a public forum open to misinterpretation by the less worldly(children especially).Freedom of speech is one thing but do you ever make jokes about 911 or about disabled children on this site?..OF COURSE NOT..people will hear you.
Pleasy reply. I would like to know what you think.
My wife wanted us to tell our son that Santa is real. I told her no, because it's just another lie and when he finds out that he is not in face real, he will just be upset. We debated this for some time. Then she finally agreed that we shouldn't tell him. So we told him about Santa, and we told him that he's not real. He was disappointed, but he didn't freak out. I think it was the right thing to do, we avoided a HUGE problem.
Helloween -> Samhain, Easter (fertility babylonian goddess Semiramis worship), X-Mass (full of pagan withcraft regalia), Valentines Day, All dead "saints" (necromancy) etc. A society full of paganism.
Get right with the true and only God, the LORD of the Bible.
Raised on the pagan Vatican system? That says much. Santa (Satan) is just a modern mish mash of pagan myths from Nicholaus and his demon friend Krampus to Odin to create a bigger layer of "innocence" to cover the pagan roots of the X-Mass also known as Saturnalia to the romans, the wicked worship of the pagan sun deties as Mithras, Baal or Horus and incorporated within the pagan catholic church.
So, how stupid sounds a rebel society celebrating the pagan winter solstice, sun worship?
"He is the coolest paedophile in the world"....You are a very, very disturbed young lady, the propogation of feminist extremist based paedohysteria has done more damage to society than you are capable of perceiving...Misandry at it's worst.
Children doesn't get sad about Santa isn't real its just a thing that they get over. And do you really think we should learn our kid alot of shit when they are like 4 wtf ?
I grew up with the tags on my presents saying "From: Santa Mom"
I honestly don't understand why people get upset about their children knowing the truth. They should be taught the spirit of Christmas and not be given a false sense of wonder which will invariably be crushed
@Brittanysofficial I remember feeling quietly disappointed the first time I was actually able to read them. Did your parents ever do the tooth fairy thing?
yeah i agree lets smash our children's imagination tell them how stupid they are for believing in magic good job!!! omg you people are crazy i remember going to mall when i was a kid and seeing Santa and how happy it made me and now that im grown i dont feel like i was lied to rather i was allowed to be a kid and have an imagination!
@mizzkatey1 Imagination is great. Imaginations aren't enhanced by lies. Imagination is enhanced through thinking of things that aren't real and a world you can manipulate.
@Brittanysofficial yes there maybe some kids that maybe a little upset to discover Santa is not real.
But its not entirely a bad thing. Its a very important lesson in life. The fact that you been deceived to by people who you trust. It makes you question the world your living in.
It makes your question the other great deception RELIGIONS.
@Nuron666 Kids will learn that from strangers. We shouldn't promote that reality in the home if it doesn't exist. You almost sound like you would deceive your kid to teach them a lesson. That's like slicing your kids hand open with a knife to show them that knives cut. No. You instruct your child on the danger of knives. If he then goes and cuts himself, you make it better and re-treat him the lesson. I don't like the idea of parents playing pranks on their kids. It seems cruel. Make sense?
The great thing about SANTA, FAIRIES, etc... is. kids by the age of 8 to 10 comes to terms that SANTA is not real. The truth comes out in the end.
We need to be focusing on a much bigger lie, that is the issue of RELIGION and GOD.
You have billions of people around the world who indoctrinate their kids, you even have intelligent people, presidents, prime ministers etc.. who promote religions.
@Nuron666 I've already talked about religion. That's old news. When we have parents who don't even believe in a God telling their kids that Santa is real, then we have a problem.
This is why the internet is superior to television. Not enough bullshit to keep you from truth. TV people are slaves of a system that condones censorship and lies.
while we don´t really have santa here in The Netherlands, we do have something similair. And when my mom told me he wasn't real it didn't really bother me that much, first of I asked it myself and second they gave me presents because of it.
Now would I tell my own kids (that is asuming that I ever get kids) that lie? probably not since truth is very important to me and I can stil give them presents without having to lie.
My nephews are 7 and 8, and they actually enlightened ME in the whole story of Christmas, and on how there are calculations that Jesus wasn't born anywhere near December...
I'm sure they appreciate the charitable attitude of Sanctus Nicolaos(super googled that).
It's interesting, one of the parents at the daycare I work at was talking with me and another teacher about this just the other day, how she doesn't want her children to think Santa is real - that they would celebrate the holiday but she would be sure to emphasize that it was a story. I feel the same way.
Also my boyfriend's Jewish, and both our birthdays are within a week of Christmas, so maybe we'll just make up our own combination of holiday traditions and have a celebration all week.
How about: There is no Santa and no holiday and you don't get a thing. By the way i know you lost a tooth and there are no ferries, so again you my child don't get a thing. Next week is your birthday which is Tuesday and just another day soooooooooooo you don't get a thing. IT'S INNOCENT FUN. give it a break.
I never believed in Santa. My parents never told me he existed, so I thought he was just a mythological character (as he is). Anyway, there are way too many comics and television programs about children who find out Santa doesn't exist for me to believe he was real.
And you know what? Christmas was/is still super fun, and "skipping" this soooo important part of a child's life of believing in imaginary things didn't stop me from becoming a creative and dreamy person ;)
There are worse things than nightmares caused by the news or finding out that Santa isn't real. & the quicker you find out your parents lie, the better. We have a news show for kids here caled Newsround which strives to provide child friendly context for the news. & I think fables & stories serve quite a good function. Imagination is a good skill to cultivate. As for news people giving their oppinions, well they're NEWS people. Oppinions can come after they've done their job reporting the news.
I dress up like Santa every year. It's an in to getting free cookies and other things in places I'm forbidden to go. Sometimes I get caught, but nobody has the heart to report Santa Clause to the police. What parent is going to report Santa to the police when kids are around?
I remember recognizing the man in the Santa Suit when I was about 6. It was a family friend. He was drunk and going to houses with Kids and playing Santa.
I didn't like the Santa pedo comment. It's not good that in today's society everyone who is kind to children is suspected of being in this miniscule population of child molesters. Everything else was funny and spot on.
WOW, you have a genuine voice of reason for a woman, as sexest as that may sound, I know. Let's just say the female demographics surounding me in every-day life are of emotion over intellect and reasoning, and it's refreshing to see a woman who knows what's up with the world around her and goes the extra mile to spred that knowelege.
I'm betting you won't get to this comment cause of your high volume of subscribers, but if you do, check out my channel. I'm similar, but cinematic & slap-stick.
this kinda of goes along the same lines of telling kids there's an invisble man in the sky and if don't do as he says you'll burn in hell, yet, he loves you!
the next time your parents accuse of lying to them, look them swuare in the eyes and say: EASTER BUNNY!!
By far the best thing about this whole "Santa debate" is that it can be cross-applied to religion. I, personally, would have hated to grow up under a household where I was consistently told lies, granted I had my current mindset. With the existence of a god having the same credibility as the existence of Santa, I cannot even begin to understand the ignorance or unwillingness it
There's certainly a purpose behind the lie of santa and honestly do we need to discuss the legitimate claim lies have in our daily lives? That being said, I'm always one to agree that children are babied too much. They need to be treated a bit more as the next changing of the guard and less as these angels to be sheltered. I feel it would have a better long-term effect and I include myself amongst those who were perhaps sheltered too much.
I feel like I should say something here. There's a lot more weight behind something when we believe it's real and for children it's a lot easier to believe something is real. It makes the experience stronger and having a figure to look up to as a selfless being I think is somewhat necessary for a young developing mind. Myself, I just naturally came to the conclusion that santa wasn't real long before I asked my parents and it didn't hurt at all. I grew, matured and retained the meaning of santa.
I'm sorry but this is some crackpot nonsense. The fact that you would "hate" a person for pretending there is a Santa is just pathetic. It's also just a little crazy to pretend that kids are actually traumatized by this. I remember finding out and was upset right up until I opened my new bike. That was a harsh 3 minutes. Idiots like you make me ashamed of the humanist movement. Unsubscribe.
@MichaelnChristine Man, that was the picture of an intellectual debate for the clarification of facts. You, sir/madam are the picture of human decency, standing up to relatively delicate 'extremism'. Keep up the good work, batman. Since you believe that the fire-and-forget approach is a perfectly legitimate and honorable form of criticism, (since this most-def isn't a debate) , I'm just gonna leave this here for you. Your kind isn't missed. Enjoy your life elsewhere.
@mstarredux We weren't having a discussion Boy Wonder. I do not wish to subscribe to a channel which hold this sort of opinion. I love Christmas even though I'm an Atheist and am sick and tired of the ugly, negative, hateful comments. She has a right to her opinion and I have a right to disagree (done), and knowing I won't enjoy the rest of her content I choose to walk away. My statement stands, feel free to PM if you wish to have a discussion otherwise enjoy your trolling.
@BritannyOficial Btw its not nice to ignore some one who is addressing you just to let you know and im not the only one who see's it either as these comments ARE public you know ......
@SoCalAries i think your the only one who cares about our rights man everyone else seems to choose to remain oblivious to the fact and seem more content in santa claus ? seriously ? the bill of rights is on the verge of being made invalid and they are argueing about a fictional character
@Brittanysofficial hey :D its me and i was wondering if you had heard about what the rumors are saying about the new The National Defense Authorization Act wich will (if passed) render the bill of rights useless ALOT of people are freaking out saying that this is the work of the NWO ( New World Order) wich ofcourse is a group of masons aka the Illuminatti to essentially make America cave in on itself
@TheDevildriver411 I think the "NWO" is the aristocracy of this country and they're just trying to repress the common man so they can continue making tons of cash.
did anyone even read my last post christ your not even the least concerned over the rights we take for granted now ? they are in the process of being taken away yet you all seem completly oblivious to it -_-
My uncle told me Santa isn't real when I was in like first grade, without my parents concent, because he thought I should know the "true" meaning of christmas. He is a minister.
This same uncle also told a woman who came to him looking for help getting away from her abusive husband that she should just "pray more" and couldn't divorce him because a marrige is a sacrred contract with god.
I'm not sure I had a point with that but santa is just a werid concept in general.
On the other hand it really does mess with their minds especially at such a young age when being conditioned to believe in fairy tales only promotes insanity. I remember finding out Santa wasn't real and crying for a month. I went into a deep depression because that was my one glimmer of hope that there's more to this world than just politics and work. What my mother wasn't expecting was for it to eventually lead to my atheism today. She certainly didn't see that one coming.
I have a love hate relationship with it. On the one hand, having them believe in santa is pretty much the only magic they will ever encounter in their life. Seeing innocence in their faces when they really believe in the magic of santa is one of the most priceless parts of parenthood. They will create memories to be shared and enjoyed for the rest of your life. (continued)
I loved believing in Santa and not being able to sleep & going into my parents' room showing them all the presents they already knew about. As a kid that excitement was the best part. It was never quite the same once I found out, but I'm glad it lasted while it did.
2) All kids grow up to realize on their own that Santa's not real, and at that point they can focus on truth and facts. Until then, let kids enjoy being kids.
1) I don't see anything wrong with teaching kids to believe in Santa. First of all, there's the whole "Santa only visits if you're good" thing. In that way, Santa sort of does help kids to become good people. It's never bad to be nice. : )Also, Santa represents magic, and wonder, and happiness to the kids, and it's exciting for them to believe that he visits the house and leaves gifts.
Firstly, I'd like to say you have a knack of expressing your views in a very engaging way, I am a definite fan. You have inspired me to join a regional humanist group. Although, I completely disagree with you on this one. Being a child, you perceive the world as magical, wonderous, imaginative and very mysterious. I think if I were to not give my child the experience of Santa Claus, then he might resent us, or others. The wife and I look back with fond memories of Xmas, and we are humanists.
My parents didn't want me to believe in nearly anything when I was a kid. They sat me down before Christmas one year and said that I would hear kids talking about a man named Santa who isn't real, but I had to play along to be nice xD
I was more devastated when I heard the shot that killed Bambi's mom, maybe even a little traumatized. I had a feeling Santa wasn't real, especially when she told my cousin almost in a list form the toys Santa will probably bring him. My mom must have been psychic cos she was spot on.
feminism was a great movement that allowed women to vote and have a say in who runs there country.. religion warps everything in some country the reason women cant vote is because the scripture says so thankfully in america this doesnt happen .. can i ask you 1 question lets just imagine a world were every feminist idea is taken to heart then men would make there own movement to get equal writes its always going to be lopsided 1 gender will always feel a victim so dont waste your time live urLif
if passed it will give the military full control over america and the right to show up to your door on day in a tank and blast you just because you said some thing bad about the president without trial but they justify themselves by saying "We are at war and if you doing something bad we will find you ofcourse they are reffering to the war on terror but how many people litterally believe we are still at war ?
@Brittanysofficial hey :D its me and i was wondering if you had heard about what the rumors are saying about the new The National Defense Authorization Act wich will (if passed) render the bill of rights useless ALOT of people are freaking out saying that this is the work of the NWO ( New World Order) wich ofcourse is a group of masons aka the Illuminatti to essentially make America cave in on itself
We all know that Santa Claus is a load of malarkey. But Santa CHRIST . . . *Santa Christ walks into the room* *Leaves to bow down before the awesomeness that is Santa Christ*
I loved it when I believed Santa was real; it was such a magical moment in my childhood. The fact that it was a lie didn't even bother me; my Nan even told me that she was Santa's little helper and I believed her xD I'm grateful I had magic added to my life; you might as well have it before you realize how shit this world really is.
I wish i could remember how i learned santa wasnt real, however it was i dont remember being really torn up about it and i dont remember my friends being especially upset either. I guess thats because i prefered the messages and traditions outlined in 'A Christmas Carol' rather than a mythical delivery man.
I've Never believed Shit because Somebody Told Me it Was Real. And I Loved Ruining It For Little Brats. Kudo's To The Woman on The News Who uses Her Freedom Of Speech.
I believed in santa longer than most b/c I believed my parents couldn't afford all the shit I got. They used to argue too--usually about money. When I said to stop argueing, They turned to me in unison and almost sreamed "We're not arguing--we're discussing"
In Grade 4 or 5 we were put in groups and asked to pick a debate topic i suggested this very one. The teacher vetoed it in case we "ruined it" for any still believing!! Oops. I thought I was the last.:)
I think some people convince their children that Santa is real because they want to believe it themselves, or reminisce seeing the children be gleeful and excited about the prospect. Pretty selfish, when you think about it lol
Being 16, I found out when santa wasn't real when I was like, younger then 11. I think I slept on the couch in my house's t.v. room, where the tree is, and I woke up around mid-night, to see my dad putting gifts under the tree. It only proved that I though that santa wasn't real right. I was a pretty skeptical kid, and still am :D

KindaNotCute 2 months ago
I mostly agree with you. But what if having children believe an obvious load of shit for 8 years or so and then having their bubble burst was a constructive thing? It might foster a healthy skepticism that would stick with them for life. Just a thought.

My mom never told me that Santa is real. And she never told me that he is not real. I discovered on my own. And when I did I told my best friend about It. And she started crying. And my mom and her parents were called to school and I was told to never do that again. The next day I remember feeling more grown up and awesome because I knew something other kids in my school didn't xD .
Aksamasa 2 months ago
You are right...there is no benefit to let kids have the fantasy, but there is no harm in it either...I want my kids to stay kids as long as possible, and having fantasy or make believe is all part of that...the tooth fairy, easter bunny, santa...it's all part of being a kid...(I know them all personally, so no fear) we live long enough as adults, with our jaded views of the world that I let my kids "believe" as long as they want...there's enough time in life to be an asshole adult!!
Later.
madjak30 2 months ago
@madjak30 This isn't make-belief though, it's just belief. Make-belief is when the child knows full well that the teddy bear is nothing but a bunch of fluffy soft materials, but still pretends to talk to it anyway. I don't think it's harmful or beneficial to the child either, at least as far as I can see, but I just don't see the point in making them actually believe in a fantasy. They can have more than enough fun pretending.
Scampfarmer 2 months ago
@Scampfarmer I'm not making them believe, I'm just not doing anything to make them not believe. Yes, I read them the Night Before Christmas and watch the Christmas movies, so I am enabling the myth...but since they eventually find out, I don't see the harm in believing that there is some magic out there...my teenage daughter was bummed when she found out...not because we had deceived her, but because we broke the news to her before she wanted to...they can find out on their own.
Later.
madjak30 2 months ago

Imagine telling your child Santa is real and She/He already know otherwise!

timberwolf600 2 months ago
@timberwolf600 you are not giving your child a sense of fantasy if they actually believe it to be true. now if you tell your child it is make believe and that everyone is playing a game than that would be giving your child a sense of fantasy. telling your child that santa is real is just lying to them. i'm nineteen and i still play the game with my parents even though everyone in my household is over the age of fifteen. no one is telling you how to raise your child relax.

MagnusShaman 2 months ago
Raised on the pagan Vatican system? That says much. Santa (Satan) is just a modern mish mash of pagan myths from Nicholaus and his demon friend Krampus to Odin to create a bigger layer of "innocence" to cover the pagan roots of the X-Mass also known as Saturnalia to the romans, the wicked worship of the pagan sun deties as Mithras, Baal or Horus and incorporated within the pagan catholic church.
So, how stupid sounds a rebel society celebrating the pagan winter solstice, sun worship?

I think we should leave it alone.
Let kids believe in Santa, let kids be kids. They will soon find out the truth.
I really dont think kids become heart broken when they find out the truth.
They are more likely to laugh it off.
Nuron666 2 months ago
@Nuron666 I know too many kids that cried it off instead.
Brittanysofficial 2 months ago
@Brittanysofficial yes there maybe some kids that maybe a little upset to discover Santa is not real.
But its not entirely a bad thing. Its a very important lesson in life. The fact that you been deceived to by people who you trust. It makes you question the world your living in.
It makes your question the other great deception RELIGIONS.
That can only be a good thing.
Nuron666 2 months ago
@Nuron666 Kids will learn that from strangers. We shouldn't promote that reality in the home if it doesn't exist. You almost sound like you would deceive your kid to teach them a lesson. That's like slicing your kids hand open with a knife to show them that knives cut. No. You instruct your child on the danger of knives. If he then goes and cuts himself, you make it better and re-treat him the lesson. I don't like the idea of parents playing pranks on their kids. It seems cruel. Make sense?
Brittanysofficial 2 months ago
@Brittanysofficial your focusing on a very trivial issue.
This is a greater problem.
Nuron666 2 months ago
@Nuron666 I've already talked about religion. That's old news. When we have parents who don't even believe in a God telling their kids that Santa is real, then we have a problem.
Brittanysofficial 2 months ago
@Brittanysofficial like I said before Santa is not the main problem.
The root of the problem comes down to religions.
Once we have eliminated religion everything thing else will sort itself out.

Now would I tell my own kids (that is asuming that I ever get kids) that lie? probably not since truth is very important to me and I can stil give them presents without having to lie.

Also my boyfriend's Jewish, and both our birthdays are within a week of Christmas, so maybe we'll just make up our own combination of holiday traditions and have a celebration all week.

By far the best thing about this whole "Santa debate" is that it can be cross-applied to religion. I, personally, would have hated to grow up under a household where I was consistently told lies, granted I had my current mindset. With the existence of a god having the same credibility as the existence of Santa, I cannot even begin to understand the ignorance or unwillingness it
must take to not see the parallel.
DerNoziroh 2 months ago
There's certainly a purpose behind the lie of santa and honestly do we need to discuss the legitimate claim lies have in our daily lives? That being said, I'm always one to agree that children are babied too much. They need to be treated a bit more as the next changing of the guard and less as these angels to be sheltered. I feel it would have a better long-term effect and I include myself amongst those who were perhaps sheltered too much.
5thsurvivor 2 months ago
I feel like I should say something here. There's a lot more weight behind something when we believe it's real and for children it's a lot easier to believe something is real. It makes the experience stronger and having a figure to look up to as a selfless being I think is somewhat necessary for a young developing mind. Myself, I just naturally came to the conclusion that santa wasn't real long before I asked my parents and it didn't hurt at all. I grew, matured and retained the meaning of santa.
5thsurvivor 2 months ago
I'm sorry but this is some crackpot nonsense. The fact that you would "hate" a person for pretending there is a Santa is just pathetic. It's also just a little crazy to pretend that kids are actually traumatized by this. I remember finding out and was upset right up until I opened my new bike. That was a harsh 3 minutes.
