I agree with most of this video except..disagree wit the obedience, people are not obedient to God, I am MADE right with God through the obedience of one man, Christ was obedient on my behalf and it is by faith I walk in Him. There's no other "Church". Jesus began His Church and appointed His apostles as the 1st Bishops. Jn15:16; Mk3:14; 1Tim3; Tit1:7

Because many Christians do not test things in light of Scripture, many 'new age' practices like using faith as a force to create your own reality, contempletive prayer, & meditation, have entered the church. We MUST 'examine the Scriptures daily to see if what is being said is true,' (Acts 17:11)& 'encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.' Titus 1: 9: he must have a firm grasp of the unchanging message of the tradition, so that he can be counted on both for giving encouragement in sound doctrine and for refuting those who argue against it. It is referred to as the baptism of the Holy Ghost(Spirit) it has happened to millions of born-again believers in Christ. It originally happened to 120 believers including the disciples, on the day of pentacost soon after Jesus had ascended. He had promised He would send the comforter (Holy Spirit) to empower them. acts c2

People are so ethnocentristic. People tend towards the religion of their parents. There are so many religions; and everyone thinks their's is the best - like it's a sports team or something.

I've been religious all my life. I pray to the lord Jesus to cure my sister of cancer she died. I pray lord for a promotion, I was denied. I pray the lord for protection and I got into an accident where I lost my car. I go to church every Sunday and Thursday; now by cab since I lost my car, I help the poor, give tithe to the church, participate in church activities and love the lord with my heart. What am I doing wrong?

Man, that's a tough question. I've struggled with it myself. In the Bible, many of the most ardent followers have the toughest lives. We were born into a spiritual war, and as a result, we will face trials. You have chosen a side, and it is the opposite side of the king of this world. Sometimes it's not easy to maintain faith in light of troubles, but remember that this world is not our home.
I guess I've never really understood faith and belief. I mean, You either know or You don't. If You only have faith, aren't You attempting self-inflicted mind control? Is that really what God wants?
How do you either know or not know? It is an impossibility to either prove or disprove the existence of God. A hard look at the evidence is what is required, and then an act of faith based upon that evidence. We act on faith in many ways throughout our day.
You act illogically. If you look at the evidence, what you draw is an Inconclusive Result. To extrapolate from that the existence of a divine being is not giving the evidence a 'hard look', it is reaching a conclusion DESPITE the evidence. Therefore, you shouldn't even talk about the evidence in the first place, since "Faith" designates blind acceptance of a certain ideational content, acceptance induced by feeling in the absence of evidence or proof.
Critter: If you are told something incorrect, especially from the pulpit, every day since you were born, you would have a tendency to believe it, no matter how absurd it is. I read some of Josh McDowell's books. I had high hopes for them; but he let me down. He assumes that God exists; and that God is basically what christian dogma says he is. That is his foundation that he builds everything on. Take that foundation away, and his theories collapse. I took Basic Logic, PHL 101 in college soon after that; and we actually used his examples as classroom material as examples of bad logic.

I agree with most of this video except..disagree wit the obedience, people are not obedient to God, I am MADE right with God through the obedience of one man, Christ was obedient on my behalf and it is by faith I walk in Him. IF it was about our obedience we would never make it and it is not about the Holy life, it is about us being dead to sin, crucified with Christ and made alive in Him. He alone is Holy and His righteousness is ours.

There's no other "Church". Jesus began His Church and appointed His apostles as the 1st Bishops. Jn15:16; Mk3:14; 1Tim3; Tit1:7
People "outside" The Church in other Christian denom's say they follw the bible, but they really "cherry pick". They pick verses & ignore the rest. There is a sound lack of scriptural edification on biblical exegesis in these protestant "assemblies"..

Thank you for this very Biblical teaching using many Scriptures. Because many Christians do not test things in light of Scripture, many 'new age' practices like using faith as a force to create your own reality, contempletive prayer, & meditation, have entered the church. We MUST 'examine the Scriptures daily to see if what is being said is true,' (Acts 17:11)& 'encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.' (Titus 1:9) Experience God in His Word & NOT seek an experience!

Titus 1: 9: he must have a firm grasp of the unchanging message of the tradition, so that he can be counted on both for giving encouragement in sound doctrine and for refuting those who argue against it. The only true Church is the Catholic Church. The only true ecumenism is a return to this One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. There is NO salvation outside this Church.

Before the bible was ever written, the Sumerian Tablets explained in stone that Yhwh was an Anunaki. The Anunaki called themselves 'gods'; & therein lies the confusion. Furthermore, the history in the tablets dovetails seamlessly into the later-written old testament. These are people saying they have faith in a particular bible of a particular religion in a vast sea of religions. and made a "believer" out of me. I was 19 at the time and 26 years later, God has proven to me over & over again, He is faithful and true to those that love Him. To a stranger, I cannot produce Jesus to you (like a magic genie) but yet He(The Holy Spirit) LIVES inside me. That is not wishful thinking from a brainwashed follower, but a 26 year old FACT, and a relationship that is even stronger today. Do I by faith believe in God?, yes, but I also KNOW that He is REAL. Hmmm. . .strange. Interesting. Are you sure you weren't just caught up in the moment? . . .the excitement of the crowd? . . .maybe low blood sugar? I mean, there could be a number of explainations. I'm not saying you're lying; don't get me wrong. Maybe it's kinda like seeing a UFO. Everyone is in 2 groups: Those who have seen, & those who have not. I had a 'mountain top' type experience listening to an Indian enlightened master once; so, I doubt that it's unique to Christianity. Namaste.

rockstar, the answer is no, to all of your possible reasons for what happened to me! None apply to me. What I have learned is my experience, though unique, was not uncommon. It is referred to as the baptism of the Holy Ghost(Spirit) it has happened to millions of born-again believers in Christ. It originally happened to 120 believers including the disciples, on the day of pentacost soon after Jesus had ascended. He had promised He would send the comforter (Holy Spirit) to empower them. acts c2

To you, I guess there's no such thing as absolute truth. It's just not possible huh. I was only tryin to share with you the unbelievable experience I had, and how it happened and why is quite important but you seem to think it's just "religion" from my ancestors persuasion. So easy to brush off! Well, there are many that (KNOW) Him (the creator of life & the universe) personally, but how could you KNOW that, that would take a small amount of faith. I've been religious all my life. I pray to the lord Jesus to cure my sister of cancer she died. I pray lord for a promotion, I was denied. I pray the lord for protection and I got into an accident where I lost my car. I go to church every Sunday and Thursday; now by cab since I lost my car, I help the poor, give tithe to the church, participate in church activities and love the lord with my heart. What am I doing wrong?

Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, do not expect to get them in this perishing earth for we are in the time of random chaos and sin. Only when Christ returns shall the earth be restored. Man, that's a tough question. I've struggled with it myself. In the Bible, many of the most ardent followers have the toughest lives. We were born into a spiritual war, and as a result, we will face trials. You have chosen a side, and it is the opposite side of the king of this world. Sometimes it's not easy to maintain faith in light of troubles, but remember that this world is not our home.

How do you either know or not know? It is an impossibility to either prove or disprove the existence of God. A hard look at the evidence is what is required, and then an act of faith based upon that evidence. We act on faith in many ways throughout our day.

You act illogically. If you look at the evidence, what you draw is an Inconclusive Result. To extrapolate from that the existence of a divine being is not giving the evidence a 'hard look', it is reaching a conclusion DESPITE the evidence. Therefore, you shouldn't even talk about the evidence in the first place, since "Faith" designates blind acceptance of a certain ideational content, acceptance induced by feeling in the absence of evidence or proof.

I don't believe for a single solitary minute that faith is strictly a suspension of all reason. Take a good look at Ravi Zacharias, Lee Strobel, Josh McDowell, William Lane Craig, just for starters. All are brilliant logicians, and all provide some rational arguments for the side of belief. If it's easier to dismiss those who believe as idiotic quacks who have never bothered to sit back and examine their own beliefs, that's okay, go ahead and believe it. Thanks.

I read some of Josh McDowell's books. I had high hopes for them; but he let me down. He assumes that God exists; and that God is basically what christian dogma says he is. That is his foundation that he builds everything on. Take that foundation away, and his theories collapse. I took Basic Logic, PHL 101 in college soon after that; and we actually used his examples as classroom material as examples of bad logic.

Here is a little picture of a "trinity": water is H20, ice is H20, steam is H20. H20 manifest in a "trinity". Almighty God manifests His nature as Father, Son, and Spirit. These three are one, like H20 is one substance. But there are three manifestations of H20. There are three manifestations of Almighty God. When we speak of the trinity, we are trying to wrap our mortal mind around a divine subject. But this little allegory might help you begin to understand.

The concept of the trinity is a compromise idea, proposed and approved by the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, in order to avoid schisms in the church. Before all kinds of ideas about the nature of god were floating around in the isolated christian communities.

Not really. Though only after Tertullian did the word Trinitas start being used, even the common people knew the Father was God, the Son was God, and the Spirit was God. It was only because of Arius, from Alexandria, where Gnosticism was growing, that there was a need for apologetic discussion.

Every argument for God and every attribute ascribed to Him rests on a false metaphysical premise. None can survive for a moment on a correct metaphysics.
If you are to postulate something beyond existence—some supernatural realm—you must do it by openly denying reason, dispensing with definitions, proofs, arguments, and saying flatly, "To Hell with argument, I have faith." That, of course, is a willful rejection of reason.
