  • OMG!Did you see the commercial. The movie looks so awesome!!!!!!!!The one thing I don't get though is why is the white witch like in ice and how come she like moves? That's a little wierd. Skandar and Will are so hot!!!!God, I can't wait. I am so seeing the midnight screening!!!!NARNIA FOREVER!!!!

  • The music you played when you first showed the poster gave me chills!

  • I appreciated the LWW film more on repeated viewings. I've a the feeling the Prince Caspian movie won't adhere exactly to the book. Things will be a bit different to suit an "entertaining film format", but this is no bad thing as long as it still follows the basic plot of the book...

  • It's not just about following the "basic plot." It's more important to honor the feel and themes in the book. And some of the changes, like the rivalry between the characters, could potentially harm the heart of the story. And that's more important than following the plot.

  • Yep, i hope they capture the true feel and spirit of the novel as well as making it entertaining. I don't like films which are artistic but drab, which is why i prefer a film like "Braveheart" for example to Gladiator...

  • I thought the lion, the witch and the wardrobe film was good. If it was a bit kiddyish then so was the book. The only thing that spoiled it for me was that i thought the Pevensie kids' acting was a bit wooden and unrealistic at times...

  • I disagree. CS Lewis is such a fantastic storyteller. In my opinion, the book feels darker than the movie. The movie just turned Narnia into a cute little fantasy land with "charming creatures," as the synopsis put it. The Narnia books truly appeal to all ages in a way I haven't seen in any other series. The movie tried to do that, but never quite got there.

  • Well a film can never go into quite the detail that a book can. I liked the film (although it wasn't perfect) and thought it a worthy tribute to the book...

  • Well, most of the time, the book doesn't go into "detail." Lewis tends to describe feelings, rather than details. He says a lot of "it made them feel this way," rather than actually describing it. This allows the reader to apply the book to their own experience, and also gives the story a great "long ago, far away" kind of feel. The movie went a different direction, and gave it an epic LOTR fantasy feel. It's not that they didn't include the details.

  • CONT...

Like I said, the books aren't very "detailed." One (perhaps unavoidable) thing about adapting LWW for the screen was that they grounded it into reality too much, while the book feels very much like a fairy tale that these four kids take part in. This may have been unavoidable. After all, in a movie, you can't just hold up a sign that says "and it made them feel like this." You have to actually visualize it.

  • You're right, the book is better than the film because of things you've just mentioned. That doesn't make the film bad as such. It follows the book pretty closely though not exactly and certainly could have been a lot worse. Overall i think the film should be looked upon as a success artistically...

  • The good things in the film outweigh the bad, for sure. The one-word review I came up with for LWW after my first viewing was "fine." It wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't terrible. Could've been better, but could've been worse. Overall, I feel pretty comfortable saying it's a good movie.

  • Personally i'd give the film 4/5 or 8/10. Director Andrew Adamson is apparently a big fan of the books so i'm sure he would want to make the films as much like the books as is feasibly possible for a film format. Remember though that LWW is by no means the best book of the series. Some of the later books are better...

  • Sure, but I have felt from the beginning that LWW was one of the most cinematic books. "Last Battle," while it's in my top 3, doesn't seem very cinematic.

  • When's the UK release date? Are any of the other books apart from Dawn Treader planned? (Yes i'm a narnia fan).

  • The UK release date is June 27. And the filmmakers have said that they intend to produce all seven films. Silver Chair has not been OFFICIALLY greenlit yet, but they're making that film after VDT. NarniaWeb has all the info (that we know). :)

  • I love the poster! IT was up at my movie theater! I had my picture taken beside it and as I got popcorn, I couldn't stop smiling at it! Then I just HAD to touch it! People were just like, Yep, she's a Narnia Nut! I like to be called that! :D

  • What is Caspian's first name? Is Caspian his first name? Then what is his last name?

Is it just me, or does this guy look like a 25 year old? He doesn't look 13 at all.

  • Caspian is the character's first name, yes. And Ben Barnes is indeed 25. But imo, he looks like he could be 18. It's important that Caspian and Peter be about the same age, and William Moseley is now 20. So it's not as simple as making Caspian 13 because that's how old he is in the book. He needs to look about the same age as Peter. If you haven't read the books, check 'em out! They're quite short, and great reads!

  • I hate wireless internet, it's taken me this long to see the video the whole way through! It was worth the wait though, as you say, over-analysis is fun. Way too much fun. I hadn't noticed that the light was coming from the Pevensies before. Sounds a bit too much like Father Christmas saying "but it is the hope that you brought that is weakening the Witch's power" ... etc.

  • OMG! The poster is so awesome!!!! I like how you put the number of days until the movie comes out!!!!! I agree with you. I love Caspians armor and his sword. I can't belive how big the kids are!!!! Especially Edmund!!!! Narnia Forever!!!

  • Is Caspian's sword the one that is given to him by the dwarfs? If so, than his sword would be Narnian.

Nice video by the way, glumPuddle!

  • Hmm, I never thought about that. In the movie, Caspian uses his Telmarine sword at the end battle. But they show Caspian's coronation in the film, so maybe he'll get a new sword there. Or maybe not...hmmmm...

  • hi buddy. it's ace ur a narnia fan. i've always loved the stories and have been a massive fan all my life. I love the BBC versions of the LWW PC VDT SC, have you seen them? they're old now, but they're really really true to the books. as in it's susan who has to count for hide and seek, and lucy first discovers the wardrobe while they're looking round the house cause it's rainin. little things like that. anywho keep up the good work.

    craig

  • I don't like the BBC versions. They're not "faithful." They are "accurate." There is a difference. For example, the Beavers dinner scene has almost exactly the same dialogue as the book. But here's the difference: In the book, it's fascinating. In the BBC version, the scene puts me to sleep. Taking a fascniating scene and turning it into a boring scene is not being faithful. That's just one example.

  • RIGHT ON! Being faithful to the book isn't always doing what the book said word-for-word.

  • That's actually really true! I'd never thought about that before. I guess it's just after fallin in love with the books this was an xmas present when I was young and so it reminds me of when I first fell in love with the books. But I get what you mean GPuddle.

  • I love your move at the beginning :P !

...AND I LOVE THE ENDING! lol

  • Um, wait... Isn't this supposed to be #18?

  • Oops...thanks for catching that!

  • NIce vid. And I agree, the next time we don't get news for a week or two post a video and maybe will get a teaser trailer.

  • A little Colbert action at the end, McPuddles?

I liked your coreographed swoosh into action at the beginning. ;D

  • Indeed! And speaking of which, the PC design looks like Oscar-material to me...SO FAR.

  • Omg, this is the first time I have seen this poster, and the fangirl inside of me nearly died of excitement. He actually reminds me of Murtagh from the Inheritance Trilogy, which may have influenced my response.

Make more posts about no news more often, it seems to do the trick, lol.

  • I liked the ending.

  • I'm on my PC. Seeing your computer screen. Reflected in your LWW poster...

    See ya' round NarniaWeb!

  • Not to be a wet blanket, but wouldn't this sword's design be Telmarine rather than Narnian? Still, it is a cool design... and it is now the sword of a Narnian king, regardless.

Wierdly, I thought of the light in the poster as coming from the East, which I liked. That was a pretty arbitrary take on it, though, I know.

  • Umm...the design is Telmarine.

  • Yes, that's what I was saying. You said in the video that it seemed to fit in Narnia, and I merely meant that while it is IN Narnia it isn't a Narnian sword per se.

  • The poster looks sooo awesome! I love it! and the sword just WOW

  • Cool! The Poster looks awesome!!!
