I really like the song she danced to in the first slip jig (which I think is from Lord of the Dance, but I'm not sure if it can be found on here or not) and the Planxty Davis set dance-in addition, Jillian is a phenomonal dancer, and I hope to someday reach her level of dancing :)

WOW!!! What a bunch of amazing dancers you have there! I really enjoyed watching this video.

So many people don't realize the time, dedication, effort and stamina it takes to do Irish Step dancing....sometimes even more than many of the sports out there.

It is. When I used to Irish Dance, I remember bringing 3 full water bottles to practice and in the 1.5 hours I was there, I'd drink all 3 and sometimes have to refill one and drink that. Incredibly laborious!

Plus, keeping your arms at your side when attempting to jump high in the air whilst pointing your front toe and hitting your back leg against your butt is tougher than you'd think.

i TOTALLY agree. my school has steps that aren't....well...modern. and i wouldnt go so far as to say that we've all become rubbish, but definately good steps help you be a better dancer

some schools make up their own steps. even if they did have people flown in for new steps they aren't the ones who make the dancers good. WE make ourselves good- overseas steps have nothing to do with the way we dance

I've danced with 2 companies ver ten years, Trinity in Madison WI, and Daniel Teigh in North Carolina, and our teachers DO make the choreo for our dances. occasionally they bring someone in to help, but thats mostly for big competitions, like worlds.

Well the second slip jig is a version of Cry of the Celts from Flatley's show Lord of the Dance, the fourth is similar to my school's treble jig music, the sixth(?) one is the Butterfly (slip jig) and the rest I do not know, though I could tell you what kind they are if that helps (reel, slip jig and so on)
