  • I remember these videos in the 90's - I love youtube

  • 7:45 Not sure how to get such a table which draws, or as is called?Because I would also need.Thx (ferrokage@centrum.sk)

  • How much is Stan lee's comics worth today?

  • what year is it?

  • @PanterAmetal100 1991! ò.ò wooow

  • did stan lee just invent meme at about 1:30, whoa

  • @SmokinBabies No. The concept of a meme has been around for a century. The word itself, from around the 70s.

  • @ruinawish thanks i had no idea. learn something new everyday

  • I guess Stan Lee get kind of nervous in front of the camera. Hoho

  • With the multiple spinoffs of one series, collecting only one of the said franchises only gives you 15% of the full story. That coupled with the required back-catalogues has complicated things in the modern age of comics.

  • What has kept these franchises and comics alive in the modern age has indisputably been the rise of the TPB. A cheaper option and a way for younger generations to catch up on DC/Marvel franchises that have long complex histories that has generally scared off younger readers from buying a recent Spider-Man or X-Men comic because of the long history associated with them and the numbers of crossovers between series only makes it more complicated.

  • Comics in general haven't been as popular as they used to back in the 1930's and 40's, TV played a part in the decline. But even so the industry is still going strong with a large enough fan-base collecting on a monthly basis. When bringing Japanese comics into the decline in American comics is somewhat inaccurate, while it has created further competition it still isn't on the same level of popularity as the giants DC & Marvel.

  • either zoom on cameras wasnt standard back then or Marvel couldnt afford one even with the money from those 8.2 million copies of X-men XD

  • Stan lee is my biggest idol. My greatest wish is to meet him!! I get so thrilled every time I see vids of stan lee

  • I miss the days when Jim was drawing Gen13 and he still owned all of WILDSTORM.

...and Comics were still enormously popular and not dominated by the videogame industry.

Back when videogames and comics co-existed without trying to run each other out of business.

    Those were the days!

  • @Rcinch1 Not to mention these days, a lot of today's generation like manga over Western comics sadly. I'm a fan of a few too but fuck, most of that shit is terrible these days. Naruto? That series has become the epitome of shit and yet that continues to get a lot of sales for some unholy reason. Western comics need to get back on top!

  • @SoraTheKeyblader Yeah. I totally agree.

The good news is that whenever a comic book movie comes out, the book stores have trouble keeping comics on the shelf.

With every movie, more American people become comic book fans of western comics!

    So don't lose hope!

Their is still a chance that they can survive. Plus, your right Naruto has dried out.

It's not as interesting as it used to be!

Where for art thou Gen13 or Wildcats?!

  • @SoraTheKeyblader Hmmm i don't know, i mean i love western comics but the Japanese comics seems to have a lot more of variety, and yes i know that western comics covers almost every genre ever made, but they seem to be more focus in superhero stories, meanwhile the manga isn't focus in any type of story at all, so i guess thats why are more popular, but yeah you're right, naruto should die and the western comics should be more popular that they are today ^_^

  • @Keviamaya Actually, while what can be perceived to be very different when overlooking the many different looking series, ironically story-wise, A LOT of them are practically the same and follow very similar formulas. Meanwhile superhero stories usually wind up becoming a lot more varied between each other(excluding the general basis with "catching or defeating criminals). The rise in manga popularity just seems to stem from the anime craze during this decade's earlier years.

  • @SoraTheKeyblader I know that the superhero stories are a lot more varied, but thats not the perception that a lot of people have when it comes down to superhero stories, hell there are a lot of people that i recommended reading watchmen and batman the swamp (big alan moore fan :P) but they seem to think that all the superhero stories are the same so they lost interest, meanwhile in manga they just seem to have a lot of curiosity even if they have overused formulas

  • @Keviamaya That's sadly just them being shallow and judging books by their cover. It's pretty depressing how so many people do the same thing these days.

Oh well, at least comic books still have their live action movie adaptations. Usually when those come out, sales go through the roof for the actual comic issues and paperbacks considering the films get people interested in checking out the original work they're based on.

  • @SoraTheKeyblader well i attribute the low popularity on western comics to two factors , 1) the manga popularity 2) the people doesn't read anymore, where i live the average number of book read per year is 1 (and i'm sure a lot of them lied), thats bullshit :\

but yeah, sadly the movie industry on the last years seems to carry the western comic book sales, and well thats a pretty depressing reality, especially for independent comics who rarely get a movie

  • @Rcinch1 The artist behind Gen13 was the phenomenal J. Scott Campbell, not Jim. Jim just wrote it. If you like the art then check out Danger Girl, Campbell`s best work.

  • "OBVIOUSLY the third "o" is silent...." hahaha! Stan Lee is hilarious.

  • Hehe... at 3:13 if you look by Jim's head you can see the picture of OVER KILL that Todd and Rob did...

Just thought I'd point that out.

  • Jim Lee is one of my Idols! Keep doing what you do Mr Lee!!

  • the Larry King of comics!!! lol!!!!!!

  • Fuck Aunt May

  • @iDraw3G What gives you the right to come on here ever week? Fuck iDraw3G. Jesus H. Christ, do you ever shut the fuck up?

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G This is a clear demonstration of your lack of intelligence. You see, this is the first time I came here... and all I needed to do was to move my cursor over each of your posts to see the date on which it was posted. "You moron" retard is probably more fitting though.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Seriously, do you have a life? I suggest you seek immediate psychological help if you respond with something as 'moronic' as what you've been saying.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Your videos suck balls, you fag. This means no.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G That's a poor use of logic fella. Suppose I didn't find your video entertaining and it therefore sucks?

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Are you fucking retarded? It sucks because it isn't entertaining.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G If you can prove that the questions are exactly the same I'll concede the point that you are right on one thing.... he's doing the exact same thing as jim lee. But you'll still be the idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Seriously man... put up videos that don't suck, you faggit.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G It isn't as entertaining, you fuckhead.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G If by virtual you mean the same people.. you are only half right.... not even. Seriously faggit, put up videos that don't suck. Put up Wolverine drawing Stan Lee with his claws.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G What do I get for subscribing? How much is it monthly?

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Yes, acknowledge the troll question.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Yes, thank you! More proof of your retardation! You must know I've subscribed a couple channels... and sure enough had to pay nothing. What makes you think I sincerely thought there was a charge?

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Of course I can. I like spelling it with an I because people like you who think they are articulate with perfect grammar and spelling can point it out. Extra lulz.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G That's laughable. Get a life, instead of begging me to subscribe to your channel.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G You call that advice? Advice is supposed to be helpful. How is the mere act of subscribing to YOUR channel... helpful?

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Alright, well tell me all your videos or upcoming... and I will decide based on that.

  • Comment removed

  • @iDraw3G Well I don't see those ones. False advertising. Get sued.

  • @BdizzleFaReal just ignore him hes the reason his commments got removed twice

  • Jesus H. Christ, does Stan Lee ever shut the fuck up?

  • What year was this video made.

  • @jasan509 I believe it was 1992, because there are ads for these videos in the earliest issues of "Spawn," which launched in Spring 1992.

  • The best sound effects: THWIP, SNIKT ans ZA-DAK! Obviously, they're all recurring sounds, but anyone who knows what that last one is is my new best friend.

  • thwip ismostly in spiderman

  • Right, "Thwip" is Spider-Man's web shooting sound. "Snikt" is Wolverine's adamantium claws extending. "Za-Dak" is Spider-Woman's bio-electric web blasts.

  • Jim's artwork in X-Men and Batman will always be some of the greatest work I've ever seen in comics.

  • the great LEE'S!!

  • Comment removed

  • cool guy. but it shows even though how great he was he never created a charachter, thats how hard it is to do that...other than wildcats of course

  • I"m gonna take an art class during the school year and i already got a comic book character idea and story but i wont speak of it so others don't steel.

  • i was thinking that myself< its just too hard to think of original heroes since marvel and dc have done just about every character imaginable

  • He created WILD.C.A.TS

  • jim is doing some jackson's move

    lol

  • stan lee really is a talker huh.

  • hey i love to show them my work

but they r awesome man really

for more information see my channel

  • thanks so much for uploading these videos.

  • yes well u see how much jim lee has improved from his early work and he was just natural but having a teacher from when you are 4 years old then doing art classes at princeton.

thts why liefeld inspires me because even though he aint no where near as good a lee ( like any one is) he made it on his own self taught.

for someone working class like me. with money problems i cnt take art classes all the time cos they are quite expensive i mean it was 100£ for me to go to a 2 day art work shop.

  • so basically he is soo good cos his parents were rich enuf to get him into brill art classes. i mean he was taught by bob ross. i aint denying he has natural talent but if u have stuff like tht to help you.

and im sure i heard him talking about malcolm x before.

  • i take it jim lee was pretty rich then

  • he and i have the same style of drawing but he kills me at doing it.

  • sigh.. I'm an artist but there level really puts me down.. mentally lol

  • i use to have this vhs. I loved it todd mcfarlane is on a couple of them. This is before they became image comics.

  • dude man if you still got that vhs could you like post it or something? i know its a stupid question.

  • Jim Lee is by far my favorite comic book artist. The way his skills evolved from his early stages till now is beyond amazing. The Batman - Hush series is his masterpiece.

  • It would be awesome if he returned to X-Men for like an annual or something.

  • what is this video from?

  • OMG That's too fucking funny! Jim Lee miming!

  • stan is pretty tall, or jim is pretty short, and how fast he drew that hand was sick

  • Stan Lee Uncanny Comics

    Jim Lee X-men 1990s Comics!

    they are the best!

  • Amazing Footage..to see Stan and Jim together

    is Classic..Great moments in time!

  • I KNOW RIGHT. It is awesome that is it i can not think of anything else other then Awesome

  • This is like God interviewing Jesus..."So, son tell us a bit about how one thinks as a master of the universe..."

  • Well put lol

  • @ddavismedicalart Even atheists would agree that is a brilliant analogy.

  • this is from way back in '92 and now jim lee is editor/publisher(owner kind of)and artist of wildstorm and is super succesful artist who i look up to so much and every one shouold admire!

  • what's funny is with stan. aunt may should die...lol...

  • that was amazing ,to tell you the truth i think jim lee and stan lee are brothers what i heard i t sounds like stan lee is saying jim lee is better then him

  • why did stan lee move the chair somebody tell me please

  • ummm...to give him more room to do his mime techniques...

  • The examples he holds up are hard to see because of the low-res video. Still interesting though. Thanks for uploading it (and all the other parts).

  • mine!!!

  • stan is at least a foot taller than jim

  • rofl

  • no.

  • 8.2 Million Theres no way I can sell that much holy shit...I'll be happy with 10,000 but then again u must remember that this is "MARVEL" where talking about plus the comic was about x-men,So thjeres no telling. Im gonna try all the same

  • shut up ,if uve been through wt stan has u can do what u want , he single handedly made x-men spider-man and ff and more so stfu! stan lee is my hero !

  • He did not do any of that by himself... there was Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby but he did start Marvel to begin with but was Timely Publications first

  • no he did it himself , but later they said they came up with the ideas too, stan didnt care they did all the drawings and stuff. so he let it be.

  • Stan Lee is cool, stfu

  • Heheheh... Mame.

  • why the fuck is banshee in the backround? no one cares about banshee.

  • wished I saw this back when I was a comic fan. Very important concepts here.

  • jim lee is a great artist and what can i say about the master stan, he created most of the marvel greatest characters.

i just bought batman hush and im pretty sure that is a great comic not only because of the plot but because jim lee is the artist of it

  • correction he co-created

  • Wow... I didn't realize how secluded Stan Lee was. How 100% into comics and NOTHING ELSE he is! The fact that he didn't know how to pronounce "mime" is just staggering.

  • These guys both rock. Hell yeah.

  • You haters are just jealous of him because he's talented, and gets money doing wjat he loves the most and you're just working a shitty job with no talent other than typing and pushing your mouse everyday.

  • i almost draw like jim lee

i need to improve myself little bit more

this guy jim lee, and mcfarlane are my favorites

  • Oh yeah, comics are only for nerds, TES4Akis? Unlike Oblivion? If you don't like em, why the hell would watch videos about them? Anyways, Jim Lee and Stan Lee are both fucking awesome.

  • hell yeah

  • Man, when all Comics will not be rated PG... like Sin City. What is X-man. What does X stand for? Spider-man - Spider bites man, Man becomes hero. Halk - Man explodes, man becomes green and angry... Grow up ppl.

  • Sin City is a graphic novel, not a comic book.

  • looks like a comic.... anyway just proves they all suck.

  • Listen, comics have changed a lot since the 60's (even though I love those ones as well) instead of just having a character fight the newest and baddest villain they put real life situations and phycology in these books that makes it seem real. If you read a book my Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross called, "Marvels," you would know what I mean. Next time when you post, please at least pretend to know what you're talking about.

  • And what are you, a "Comic Book Expert"? You actually think ppl should know this stuff? I think saying 'Get a life' is what i have to tell you. All I said is I think comics suck... n00by nerd.

  • I never claimed to be a comic expert. I just love comic books. I never called you any names, and what the hell does "n00by nerd" mean? Isn't that something nerds say?

  • So you went out of your way to find a Jim Lee/Stan Lee video just to say "comics suck"?

  • ^Did not say that. Persay.

And I was honestly expecting something better.

  • I mean I could've gone out of my way to search out "Oblivion" game stuff and called the folks losers...but I figure if what you do makes you happy and doesnt hurt anybody...than who cares? You play Oblivion...I read comics...others would consider us both losers...but I say "fuck em"!!

  • heh =)

I really don't play video games anymore. But one thing is clear, I do not claim people who read comics losers, or 'nerds'. I myself read them but just for the sake of the art. I was really saying generic sci-fi is lame, but whhateva!

    =D

  • I have the issue he did, X-Men #1 very good issue, not like the crap they have now, they've ruined the characters.

  • I just hate when they started doing X-Men and other comics in the anime/manga style...I hate that stuff!

  • Same here.

  • then u should avoid the marvel mangaverse

  • correction he co-created them

  • One of my fave artists
