I've owned an E30 M3 and an E34 M5 and I can easily say that they don't make them as well anymore. For the money, the XKR 175 is one of the very best GT cars in the world.

Yes, maybe M3 E36 is better vs XKR, however, car's are not made only for run but to go on the road and what you show with a Jag in infiniment better than an E36, that's why after 2 M3 (e36 and E46 smg2), I change for XKR (old model). On a track, that's better to prefer an M3. Mine was with Bilstein PSS9 and I enjoyed too much. I know with an XKR, it will be impossible to follow any 911 or M3, but ''c'est la vie''!
first of all, prove to me that it was an xkr and not an xk8. second of all, the jag can do the 1/4 mile in about 13.38 seconds, you said you got a 13.6 right? depending on the year i guess, then it would make a difference because from when they came out till 2002 they only made them with a 4.2 with 370hp. from 2003-06 they made them with a 4.2 with 390hp. it is more likely you raced an older model because it is illogical for you to win if they usually pull 13.4s on the track.
yes, now that i listened closer, it did say supercharged but it was obviously an older model with the 4.0L 370 hp because a newer one would have won. so technically, you are only lucky you ran into this guy with the older model or you woulda lost.
the 3.2 M3 was 333HP. Stock M3 and BMW 330 have way lower torque than ANY jaguar. In this clip, obviously the M3 is modified - probably nitrus. Too much smoke coming out of the M3, wheels spinning freely - that' s a sign it was modified to produce more torque. Also, the rear looks raised, i.e. something to do with oversized tires i.e. built professionally for drag racing.
this was my car and i can tell you it only has ac schnitzer chips a carbon intake filter and a stainless exhaust and was dynoed at 274bhp at the flywheel which isnt that great but still managed a standing 1/4 in 13.6.
Even my old 96 XJ 4.0 I6 sedan slightly modified which was daily driver had 290HP with some weight taken out. The M3 has stronger 1st gear, it will gain a head start but the Jag' s auto trans. will hellishly catch up just a bit later. Both cars are good. You gotta know how to tweak a Jag to put out some serious HP. My new supercharged Jag has over 550HP but I put new superchargers, race- tuned it and of course took out just a bit of weight. Good luck though racing Jags.

actually they are really the same, the only real reason the 3.2 is a bit quicker is because of the 3.23 diff and lower ratio gearbox, so the 3.0 has to have that gearbox and an even lower ratio diff, mine has 3.64 which must be specially built, and no its not the diff from an e46 !!, also you need lightweight flywheel. e36 euro with these mods is a killer. theres a few more things than that though, chip etc , intake and exhaust etc etc.
yeah it was an auto, doesnt take much skill does it to stand on the pedal does it.i spoke to the bloke with the jag afterwards and he was a top bloke we wasnt bothered who won we just enjoyed the close racing. i can tell you if it had been another 10 meters he would of won cos that jag was gaining on me FAST.
