I have really been blessed by your Grooving For Heaven DVD series, various online videos and your Pondering the Sushi CD. Do you have any chord charts and/or lead sheets available for "1412" and "Giavonna Marie" ?
Hey Norm, you use the 212 with 115. Doesn't the 115 run out of headroom while you could still push the 212? I read that it's best to mix two of the same cabs for that reason, so you can push them both equally without one of them starting to fart out. How does the 115 212 combo work? They got different specs and wattage. Thanks! (ps. asking this because I'm interested in trying your combination with my 700RB II)
Hey Norm, I bought Pondering the sushi. Great playing! Im looking into getting that 212 neo. Have you ever combined it with a neo 210 or anything else? Seems to be loud on its own though. Oh, and have you ever tried the MB500 or MB800?? greetings from montreal.
Hey Norm, thanks for the great videos and tips. I have the 700RB-II paired with an old GK 410 cab (400w@8ohm) that I've decided is more volume than I need and is really heavy. If I sell the cab and get the NEO 212 for the weight drop, will I be sacrificing any tone? What can I expect? More importantly, will I be able to still cut through easily playing w/ a drummer?
I have the same rig on the same settings. When I added a NEO115-II into the mix it just THUNDERED. I can't say enough good things about what GK has to offer.
I don't recommend the BLX line of cabs. The Backline 600 head isn't too bad, considering the price.
You always want to "skimp" on the amp, before the cabinet.
If you're looking for a good mid-ranged GK 410, Go for the RBX series. They are much better, IMO. Paired with their 700RB-II head and you'd have a great little half-stack.
If you're looking for more bang for your buck, consider the MB212 combo with an ext. cab.
Still nothing beats these Neos. I'm waiting for the Neo810 myself.
for christmas i got a $700 GK bass amp stack goldline 300 wats its really nice i would get a GK over other top bass amp brands like ampeg any fender bass amp
Huge apologies for the confusion. Upon further review, I would have to agree with you - it looks like GK accidentally shipped me the wrong cab for this shoot & concert. Very embarrassing...
Suffice it to say that the Neo 212 sounds phenomenal as well, and is the cabinet that I own and use all the time. I guess I'll start checking from now on to make sure that I get the right one! :^)
i know u posted that 2 months ago, but thats exactly what i play and i was looking at the neo after seein toolbassplayer had it. if u bought it, do u suggest it?
Hey josa90- Thanks for your interest. It's actually a hidden bonus track on my Pondering the Sushi CD called "Veggie Soup". It is available on iTunes, as well.
Hi Norm, do you use the 4 ohm or 8 ohm Neo 212 cab? I love the compactness/portability of this rig, it really sounds quite brilliant with your MTD. Diggin' your grooves as always. "The Race" is still one of my all time favourite jazz funk tracks.
@normstockton Hi Norm, in Italy there are no 212 4 ohm. Shops owner say to me there is an error in the web site of GK 'cause neo 212 4 ohm doesn't exist. What do you think about it?
i use the 1001rb2 and its great, i run it through an ampeg 8x10 and an ampeg 4x10 for smaller shows . it does the job nicely. running it through a compressor makes it even more boombasstic!

Hi! Awesome video! I love GK sound!
I have got a Peavey head (500 w/4 Ohm): could it be a good idea to use a 212 Neo with it?

Can these cabs be used with a tube head playing a regular electric guitar?
I like this CK designs and they are cheaper in price than a Marshall cab.
reditreefrogs 2 years ago
perhaps if you dial out the horn. however, the sound will still be very "bassy"... you don't want a booming guitar

it defenitely is 4X10 i have the same exact head and cabinet

Hey norm. Nobody locally has any neos so I have to make a blind purchase. How would you compares the 410 and 212?
I play mainly Tool, Heavy Rock, and Jazz.
jarhead4214 2 years ago
I think you should get the 212.
But it would still be better if you'd test it first.

Hey chingis000-
Actually, it's a bit of an optical illusion; the cab in the video is definitely a Neo 212. It's the cab I use most of the time.
