Spending is the way to work the economy again and as well as high taxes. Look at FDR job. He spend over the US budget and encourage people to spend nearly all of their saving. At the end of his second election the US GDP was at a stable rate and rising. Debts can repay and people can save later on.

Also it gave the FDIC tons of power allowing them to print up money like its no tomorrow. Our economy is fucked from inflation from the amount of money the FDIC is printing.
