One thing I've noticed about these clips is how much better the live-action material looks when framed by competently executed VFX. When I saw the film in the theater I thought that all of the visuals looked like placeholders in lieu of the finished effects; I seem to recall that Shatner had the same impression when he first saw Ferren's lamentable work. There were structural problems with the script, but Shatner's direction was actually pretty decent -- and good effects may have saved the film.
Wow, I'd forgotten what a shit film this was! But seriously, the quality of your work is astounding! Paramount should just buy it and release it on DVD!
Great work, but I have a couple suggestions for ya (only because I don't have the technical know-how to put this stuff together and make my own!)
1. Slow down the close-up on Spock. It's a beautiful shot, but as the camera zooms in, it's too fast. It doesn't fit the style of 1989 filming.
2. Move the shot of Enterprise arriving at Nimbus III to the beginning of the scene. While you're at it, add a a sound effect of the ship flying over head. Sound gives visuals a lot of character!
Hey, did you change the viewscreen image of the planet? If so, good job! Also nice shots of the Enterprise, especially the pull-in and the pass accross the sun.
My only complaint is that the movie is still flawed:
KIRK
You look like you've just seen a ghost.
SPOCK
Perhaps I have, Captain. Perhaps I have.
These hokey, cliched lines of dialogue make this movie so-bad-it's-good.
Nice job--but the music drops between the cut to the exterior of the ship and right before the push into the window. Although, nice job on finding a place to fit the Observation Lounge.
I have a small gripe...But wait its not your fault its one that's got to me ever since i saw the film and that is the windows on the inside don't match the outside. Again not your fault but a job well done congrats.
Have you ever seen the youtube channel for Vancouver Film School? I think it would be a lot more eye-popping if you did a breakdown of the cg to show the models you took the time to create.
It looks so professional and seamless that it's hard to tell exactly where your cg begins and ends compared to the original. It blends so well. Bravo.

That exterior tracking shot that leads to Spock's face was brilliantly done!

This really is fantastic work. I would love to know how you made this without compromising too many trademark secrets of course.

VERY nice!
One thing you might want to check is what we're seeing out the front window of the shuttlecraft while inside, and what we SHOULD be seeing.
