Can someone explain how a man who did very little to address the sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church, and actually blocked legitimate investigations of suspected pedophiles, is beautified so easily? People can talk about his great works, but all of it is negated by the heinous acts of child rapists who have gone unpunished, and unaccounted for, for so long. Indeed, John Paul II's inaction regarding the sexual abuse crisis makes him complicit, and for that I cannot accept him as a model.

If you`re trying to find John Paul the 2nd. the most loved figure of the 20th century guilty by association you`d have to condemn every member of every government and every member of every religious organization. You just senslessly duplicate a demagogical argument of the enemies of the church. John Paul the 2nd. will remain one of the most revered figures in the history of mankind and rightly so.

@Mynelka Covering up the crimes systematically is a crime. The former nazi soldier pope should be tried for these crimes. But he hides in his own little dicatorship doesn't he?
if any other world leader, or lets say the ceo of a child care center had done the same thing as this criminal he would be in jail.
If you look up to a person like this it only shows you as a really small person.

@surlagachette2 All I can say is go back to my note and try to understand it. Guilt by association is a logical mistake. There were a lot of e.g. Jewish communists/stalinsts who persecuted e.g. my family members. Do you blame George Gershwin ( love him ) for that or Golda Meir .....etc?
There`s just no logic in your logic. JPII will remain one of the greatest humans to grace the earth against your will. Stop using the steroetypical and false arguments and search your brain for the truth.

I remember meeting him and felt so privileged when I was a child. He gave me a rosary a book n a chain of some sort. it was three things i can clearly remember the chain of some sort n shook my hands n blessed me. We perish for a lack of knowledge but there are sincere people in all churches.
