Great Commercial, They make great tires BUT watch out for there service. The Firestone @ 7700 49Th St, Pinellas Park - (727) 544-6601 Broke one of my engine mounts bolts and didn't put one in. NOw I have major Cost and Firestone states it wasn't there fault. DON'T GO TO Firestone!
I love this commercial. Loved watching it during the IndyCar season. I remember hanging down in Danica's Pit area talking to her while this was playing in the background. Real cool! Firestone makes the best tires. Oh, and I drive a Ford Explorer.
I absolutely will never buy Firestone or Bridgestone tires...the way they handled their tread separation incidents pre- and post- Ford Explorer is despicable. I truly believe there should have been criminal charges brought.
And no... I have never owned (and do not have plans to own) a Ford either
If I were Firestone & the IndyCar Series, I'd be making sure this ad is being heavily pounded on every station in America due to the recent NASCAR/GoodYear debacle.
Cool TV ad, but I worked at Ford when the recall was done... I remember having to help destroy about 150 sets of tires and ship them with a hole cut out of each one back to Firestone...
Then if you worked at Ford you should understand that when you tell people to UNDERINFLATE and OVERLOAD a tire, no matter who makes it those two factors will destroy the tire. FORD filled them up to 28PSI not 32PSI, and when people don't check their pressure they lose 1PSI a month. Couple that with overloading and it blew. FORD'S fault. NOT Firestone.
Firestone puts the proper inflation level on each tire. If some idiot told you the wrong thing that's not Fords fault its his and you should know how to check your tires inflation levels. The inflation level was not the entire issue as Firestone stated, it was a sidewall issue. :) The entire issue was a pain in the ass for Ford. They had to recall and destroy thousands of tires, and that cost techs money along with it. Not to mention the fact of loading them all up to ship them back to Firestone
You really need to read up on this stuff. While both Ford and Firestone were at fault. It was Firestone that takes first place in the douchebag awards. Goodyear tires that were used on the same Explorers did not experience tread separation. Additionally, Firestone had been previously fined by the US government for faulty tire (tread separation) before the Explorer had even hit the road.
Plus, I had friend who experienced F-Stone separation on his GMC truck. Not unique to Ford.
Firestones are good tires but people always remember that 500s had problems. Whatever, I still buy them. They are also a great sponser of IndyCar and make great tires that rarely have problems and make for good racing.
I had FR380s on my car and they wore to the threads; but that was due to the fact it had a broken LF strut that the bodyshop did not find after the accident. I never will go back to that shop but will buy Firestones again. They were a decent tire for the year and half before the strut finally was found to be the problem.
and by the way...Firestone is THE largest tire producing and Selling company on the planet...Not Goodyear, Michelin or BFG...we have over 3000 stores Nationwide just in THIS county. And my store sells anywhere between 650 to 950 any given month..so Firestone does quite well...Better than most uninformed people think
well see there you go...now i KNOW you're lying...I happen to RUN a Firestone Store..and Firestone doesn't make a tire that is rated for 20,000 miles...I've been with them for 10 years and we have NEVER put our name on a tire with a mileage rating of Less than 40K...the FR360...anything below that was either a triumphI, triumphII, or a turisimo tire...hell. even the Lemans and Primewell's they sell now aren't rated for less than 40..so..sorry dude..wasn't a Firestone Produced tire.
bigford...don't worry...firestone mader a very very nice comeback with that...especially when it was pointed out that firestone wasn't the only tire having that issue on the explorer.
Firestone still makes horrid tires, I feel. I don't drive my car hard(I have a track car for that), and the one time I boguht Firestone tires(on the recommendation of a friend) they were worn down to the cords after 600 miles. This was WAAAAY after the Exploder fiasco, mind you - it makes me worry that they crashed quality elsewhere(not necessarily on purpose, though, I'll admit that) to fix that.
i've never EVER seen a tire wear to the cords after 600 miles...unles they were underinflated/overinflated or beaten on..(ie..burnouts...)..or the aligment WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY out...tires just don't wear out like that without a reason..not even poor quality ones..and firestone puts out some of the top quality out there now also..Destination LE, A/T, Firehawk GT, Wideoval, FR710 , Tansforce H/T and A/T just to name a few..tell the enitre truth.cuz that just doesn't happen
I'm very strict about maintaining my car(side effect of being an auto mechanic). The tire pressures were always up to the recommended level. Whatever was wrong with these tires was the result of production. I don't know many people who have ever used Firestones, but the one who recommended I try them is the only person I know who continues to recommend them. Everyone else I know feels they're crap.

Too bad those magic rings are produced using slave labor in Liberia, West Africa. Of course, most Americans haven't a clue about any of this.

i know u guys are all going to hate me but i couldnt resist Top FIVE Rejected Slogans for Firestone Tires
5. Because there's a lot riding on your lawsuit.
4. Better than driving around on your axles, right?
3. Reinforcing the importance of the speed limit.
2. You can't recall a better tire.
And the number one rejected slogan for Firestone tires:
1. The perfect gift for your mother-in-law.

Oh, crap, I must correct myself. I didn't realize I said six hundred miles. It was six THOUSAND miles on a tire rated for 20,000. My bad.
