This is so much fun! Tigger hit in the London orchestra. It is 6:00 am in the morning,I,ve ben up all night so if the spelling goes Oh Well. I practiced most of, but You are My inspiration. Time for bed. Love Ya lots. Oh Yes! Have You ever got to ride that horse You used to dream about? Hope You and Yours have a terrific year.
I just want to say, "Thank you!" I am so enjoying all of your clips! Plus, your personality and sense of humor are wonderful! Keep it up! I hope to see you live someday soon!
In the forth clip, where the keyboard is moving, that's completely normal. When you want to play pianissimo (very quiet) you move the keyboard and the mechanics with the left pedal a little bit to the right. The hammers are now only striking one string instead of three. The piano sounds quieter.
@DominicWeber1 "@ValentinaLisitsa"?! Wow, thankfully somebody pointed that out to the virtuoso pianist. She must have been so confused. . . . . Bravo. (BTW I’m being sarcastic in case you miss that as well)
Valentina is one of the greatest pianist of our time but what makes her even more special is her ability to laugh at herself. A gift not to be taken lightly.
It's wonderful to see this--how many other professionals would post a video where they don't take themselves so seriously? It only makes you all the more worthy of respect!
The incredible shifting keyboard? LOL! As I recall, the soft pedal shifts the action so that the hammers only strike one string. However, this does look like a very difficult piece. Which etude is this?
@sdxn2400134 Rachmaninoff étude-tableau op. 39 no. 6, also known by the name "little red riding hood" :) It is a very difficult piece, and yes the soft pedal shifts the keyboard but why take it on and off continuosly like that? hmm. Alien keyboard. Well, alien player as well, it's a match...
I think it's amazing that the pianist actually blogs on here. It's thrilling watching this playing. Unfortunately I have a friend who aged 50, decided to learn to play the piano. After about three months I sent him a clip of Valentina Lisista playing a Chopin Etude and he gave up!!!
Valentina, you are such an amazing pianist, and through these videos, I feel like I know you through your music. You have such a delightful personality, and your playing is nothing less than... transcendence. Thank you.
Simply one of the greatest pianists I've seen on modern yet classic times
Horowitz' Tchaikovsky, Kissin's Chopin, and Lisitsa's Rachmaninoff. Sigh, I wish I was also a pianist. Not as good as them but good enough to play some easy pieces on my own :)
Thank you for being an inspirational person to me in the field of music
-From a 16 year old novice piano boy from the Philippines :)
Gosh, I can't wait until the third concerto from these recordings gets released! I'm sure by the sound of the end of the second movement it's going to be the best so far of all the performances!!!
Riding Hood reminds me::: No one on youtube has posted Bela Bartok "From The Diary of a Fly". I sure miss that diary. I used "Diary" during exam times to wake up my room mate, Thaddeus Carhart at 6am. It was fun to watch the response. Thad later wrote "Piano Shop on The Left Bank".
@prettypv94 That is what I expected it to be the number of takes for this particular spot but it actually came out on the very first take, and this is the one on the master tape.
Thank you for sharing. It is wonderful of you to share not only your brilliant playing but sharing a little of yourself. As always, you get me highest rating.
Heh, this video is great. I love seeing a little of the behind-the-scenes and it makes watching and listening that much more fun knowing you have such a great sense of humor. Keep the videos coming please! XD
It's so nice to see such a great pianist without a great ego, with humor, and going for the music itself - for the joy of that magical moment, when only music speeks!
Right, I know I will get a MASSIVE amount of fire for this, but why does the video look sped up at some points? I know it isn't as the speed of the music is all fine (and sounds beautiful by the way), but it just at times seems too jerky for real life speed.
@Curoch Her hands are probably moving too fast for your eyes to pick up everything. I'm not trying to be rude here, by the way, I'm just saying; this may be a possibility. In any case, a professional pianist is a professional pianist.....and they can all be quite stunning :)
