Say what you will about the change, the first 3 Jaks were incredible. Daxter was also pretty good for a side game, and X was there solely for racing and the death match, the hunting, not the story I actually liked. This however took everything good about Jak and stomped it into the dust. Eco powers only good for one spot, crappy controls, qte, no exploration, LINEAR, predictable, no dark/light jak, planes, unexciting bosses, at least X and Daxter offered something.

No, the Dark Eco sage in Jak 1 was the main villain, And he's long gone I reckon.

That old guy in this IS a Dark Eco Sage. But he's not the same one from Jak 1. Most likely one of the many successors through the years.

Samos mentioned it in the intro of Jak 1.

And if you pay close attention to the cutscene where they appear in the Red Sage's Lab. Samos recognises Gol. I don't think Maia is also the Sage though. She's just an accomplice to Gol I reckon since she's his Sister.

I don't think any of the Sages had seen Gol in years. So they probably had no idea that he was experimenting with Dark Eco, was evil etc.

And I don't think Samos knew Gol was starting to become evil. When he saw them again in the Red Sage's lab. He was surprised at how much the Dark Eco had changed and corrupted Gol and Maia.

To survive in a Silo full of Dark Eco for that long? I doubt it. They're not immortal/invincible. And there's the fact that they probably would've aged as well. It's unlikely the Catacombs preserved their age if they are alive.

If you asked me, I say they drowned in the Dark Eco long ago.
