1986-87 Boston Celtics @ Los Angeles Lakers (2nd Half)

Game was Sun, Feb 15, 1987...both teams had identical 37-12 records going into this one, both were playing well. I'll always remember that spin move by Magic at 7:16....I was going so nuts I hit my hands against the ceiling when I jumped up! I wanted this game bad to be able to sweep the season series 2-0 (Bos swept us 2-0 the year before). A great game for regular season to be sure!

I remember that game well. It was on a Sunday afternoon in February. Kareem's streak of scoring 10 points or more almost came to end as it wasn't until the final minute when he scored a basket and two free throws to reach 10. This was when both teams were at their peak. Injuries began to hurt the Celtics the rest of the season and they were never the same again.

Basketball at its best.

all the studs were doing their thing in this game, McHale with the bump and fade-away, Bird with those creative shots, Worthy finger-rolling and dunking and especially Magic, hitting long jumpers, spinning lay-ups, constantly pushing the offense...can't forget about the 2 stoners, Captain and Chief throwing in some buckets...

This was a regular season game. In

86-'87, the Lakers beat the Celtics in both regular season games: 117-110 in Boston, and this game 106-103.
