Obama has so far had a fantastic foreign trip looking very presidential while the people he meets have displayed that "breath of fresh air" smile at him wherever he has gone. So why hasn't there been a bounce in the polls? McCain has made a series of foreign policy gaffes (the Iraq/Pakistan border etc.) yet the old argument "victory versus defeat" seems to be muddying the water again. Perhaps it is too early to worry, but the Obama camp should highlight McCain's many gaffes more vociferously.

The surge didn't help Iraq. Iraq had a lot of improvement many months before the surge happened. One can argue that the surge helped that momentum, but there are many different factors in the current success that we are witnessing in Iraq.

Afghanistan isn't a strategic threat. We should revert to diplomacy, trade and nonintervention to indirectly fight their desire to attack us. We should focus on homeland defense, that's it.
