  • VTEC just kicked in oh.... shhhhiiiiiittttttt

  • Vtec yooooooooooo.....................

  • turtle reflexes lol

  • looks like the M3's didnt have a problem :P

  • would've been better not to countersteer and slide into the rack of tires instead.

  • fuck lol

  • According to the tire marks, he wasn't the first.

  • Seems like the universal response for a wreck is the delayed, "...fuck!"

  • I'm guessing he should have counter steered a bit earlier and corrected it with some throttle..but what do i know lol

  • It was just bad steering grip

  • Totaled????. I wish i can see pics. it couldn't have been that bad

  • Too bad, really, sorry about your car. Rookie. See, experienced drivers know that if you blow turn 5 wide at the exit you can just drive up the hill on the grass for a bit.

  • That NSX has a design falaw under certain cornering situations this car is prown to udersteer then without very little warning at all that understeer turns into sharp oversteer. It really takes a good driver to recover from something like that many pro drivers even have a hard time too.

  • a very soft fuck...

  • Mid engine + slow reactions=oops

  • he hit the wall backwards, ouwww

NSX are made all of aluminium, so it is likely to be a total loss.

    RIP

  • I refuse to believe the NSX was totaled. Hardly look like he hit anything.

  • FACEPALM at 0:15

  • hahahahahahhahahahhahahahah

  • It was the dirt

  • he was round the corner. why keep turning?

    Straighten the wheel up man!

  • how the fuck can anyone be soo shite at driving :P

  • Ha ha thats the last time Willy T Ribbs lets anyone drive his car.

  • littlebit faster into corner, bad reaction to it and nice car was in the wall...pity

  • The error wasn't just turn-in or reaction time. When he saw he was going wide, he needed to unwind the steering wheel and go off straight. Never go off while turning...always try to go off track in a straight line. There was plenty of room to recover in a straight line on the grass and then reenter the track.

  • totaled? unless it bent the frame WAY out of shape theres no way that totaled the car...

  • turned in too early

  • @lerxst88

Yup Thats the way I see it. Maybe he was a beginner.

  • i think he reacted to slowly, someone more skilled would catch that slide

  • the engine is in the rear, so as he said it might be totaled...

i dont like that they put grass on the side of the track it doesnt slow the car down at all, its like ice...

  • ha the shitty bmw 318i passed you lol, jk I believe that we should make funerals for cars such as the nsx, such a nice car down the darin.... :(

  • Needed better racing gloves.

  • first of all, the driver in the NSX takes the corner in the wrong gear for that corner. He doesn´t shift down after the straight, so when he brakes and get off the brakes to enter the corner the car doesn´t use much engine braking witch leeds to a high speed at apex. And the result; The car send the rear tyres outside the track, and the crasch is a fact..

  • @wccmarcus That's right, I was saying to myself "Downshift, downshift!" and he just didn't. Then when he lost the rear he overcorrected. An NSX is not the car to learn racing on anyway. Since the engine is close to the center of gravity you don't have enough feedback before the car spins out.

  • Ran out of road, and then ran out of talent :p

  • sure doesnt look as easy as it would be in the video games anymore...

  • Ahh that did'nt look too bad though, maybe a new bumper and a few other bits and bobs? And yeah, clearly the driver was too slow, but we can't all be pro.

  • @bliglum I actually think he did a pretty good job of minimizing the damage and impact after he was off the track. Could have panicked and gone nose first at higher speed. Sort of a weird corner exit to lose it though, there are a lot more difficult corners on that track.

  • @alwaystired512

+1, shit happens though. I woudl not want to wreck but that's a good place to do it, ALOT better than the kink!

  • @alwaystired512 Ya true, Put a woman at the wheel and well.... LOL!@!!!

  • @bliglum - The NSX was totaled.

  • @kenric Damn!!! Totaled?!! That makes me wanna cry.. Another lovely Nsx bites the dust.

  • @kenric really? cant believe that... the impact wasnt that hard.. maybe exhaust system and backside of the car but totaled? can we see pics?

  • @Fuchs1337 I don't have pics. Impact certainly didn't look hard from the video, but the whole rear was pushed in. No trunk left.

  • @kenric mhm bad for you = (

  • @kenric Totaled my ass.... It was a spin out.

  • @MrTitusRbandoline and backwards into a wall

  • @MrTitusRbandoline Yes I'm just here to lie about my videos.

  • @kenric Is that insurance company "Because we're cheap bastards, we don't want to pay for a simple repair" totalled or "This thing needs to be cut in half and welded to a new ass end" totalled?

  • @TestECull - You have to remember that a used NSX was worth about $30k only. From what I remember, the repair was close to $30k, so it was barely totalled. The rear got pushed in, trunk came upward. It hit the wall backwards at no angle.

  • @kenric So it was "We're cheap bastards that don't want to pay for repairs" totaled then.

I hate insurance companies. They shouldn't total a car unless it's so badly fucked up you have to cut it in half and weld on a new end.

  • @bliglum "And yeah, clearly the driver was too slow, but we can't all be pro". unnecessary

  • @DHJanos I'm sorry, I meant the drivers reaction to the slide was too slow.

  • @bliglum well i forgot it muffler comes out back and if it does then he has some screwed up heads also

  • @makoshark40 dat sux.

  • @bliglum yup a down side to rear mufflers you dont even need to crash to crack them sometimes

  • @bliglum I know for a fact, If this happened in my car, It would total it. New bumper, new bumper cover, new decklid, new sheetmetal for the rear monocoque parts, countless hours labour, thousands of dollars worth of paint... I mashed in a front fender and it cost 7.5k (Inc. all the wheels redone for 900, plus steering repair) Who knows about this.

  • @Acct1941 Yeah, we always hope the insurance companies will total them.. We don't want to own crash damaged, then repaired, cars!

  • @bliglum I thought road insurance was voided automatically once you go out on a racetrack.

  • @Acct1941 Hmm, I dunno.. DAMN! That would suck!

  • Begin putting your hands "9:15" and keeping them there as much as you can..

  • @Dav998 yea, he was handling the wheel like he was out for a leisure cruise. If he's on the track he should know that, and the instructor probably should point that out. as well.

  • Bab driver. He even doesn't know how to hold the steering wheel!

  • didn't countersteer fast enough, then un-counter steer fast enough. MR cars you have to catch REAL quick or they do what happened here

  • The only mistake he made was holding the steering wheel like a timid girl and NOT choosing to dip the wheel while lifting imo

  • Pay attention people, the only thing to blame is that dumb ass coach. He probably could have saved it if the coach showed him what a proper steering technique was, and not that lazy youtube steering style into the corner. That douche bag went for the steering wheel too, then lost his cool? How is he a coach? The best part is when the driver cocks his neck in the end lol....

  • @INeverSeenThisBefore There is a youtube steering style?

  • @AdamRW240 I would say so. I see so many on board's of people steering like they're sitting in a lazy boy. Almost as many as those duck face pics that plague the net... Just wrong man, wrong...

  • @INeverSeenThisBefore Describe please?

  • @AdamRW240 The driver lets go of the wheel to keep his right hand at the 3 o'clock position while turning into the corner. It's a comfortable position when in a corner because it makes it easier to hold the corner (lazy). However, that position inhibits you from being able to smoothly and properly counter react to a situation. This video is nearly a perfect example. 10 and 2 or 3 and 9 at all times unless your arms lock from a full turn.

  • @INeverSeenThisBefore Most driving instructors teach this style. It's much better than going into a turn with your arms crossed up. You get better feedback from the wheel when you hold it lightly, which is easier when you shuffle to keep your hands at a natural position.

He wouldn't have saved it from just turning the wheel 180degrees to the right.

  • @AdamRW240 I don't want to be that guy that criticizes from my couch, but it looks like he just didn't feel it letting go. I always keep a light grip on the wheel, so when it tries to naturally counter steer to sliding, i just let it go.

You can see this in my videos.

  • @AdamRW240 It seems that way, maybe he didn't know what to do. Autocross layouts usually have tighter corners than road courses, which force you to use that technique more often... Nice videos btw.

  • @AdamRW240 Your right, they teach that style to keep your arms from lock crossing for lack of better terms. But you should only use that technique when it's needed. From looking at that corner and the rotation of his steering wheel, I feel that he didn't need to use it. Yea, it would have needed more than a 180 to the right. I still think he would have had a better chance though. :)

  • @INeverSeenThisBefore Well, i can't agree or disagree. It's a subjective thing, steering technique. I think that it's one of those things where you just use what is more comfortable. I like to shuffle. I've autocrossed only rear-wheel drive cars and i'm most comfortable with it.

  • @AdamRW240 Imagine using the push/pull technique (I looked it up) in a 80mph left hand sweeper. The car's at it's limit and suddenly starts to over steer when the rear tire touches some dirt on the outer edge of the track, on your exit from corner. If you were to let go of the steering wheel then grip it again, it will upset the chassis and cause you to spin. Now picture yourself keeping your arms 9-3 or 10-2. You will be able to counter react fast and smooth while lifting the throttle a bit.

  • @INeverSeenThisBefore Well in that case i might just turn the wheel without removing my hands. Either way, i'm not going to argue every little case about it. You have your way, i have my way.

    What do you drive?

  • @AdamRW240 Oh, Sorry I'm not trying to argue... Everyone has their style, I just have a strong opinion on mine :) I don't drive anything particular at the moment other than my shifter kart... Clips are in my section.

  • @INeverSeenThisBefore Final note, before i leave.

Drifters use the same technique i was talking about, letting go of the wheel. It seems to work for them to get smooth transitions.

  • @AdamRW240 And on a final note, drifters do that because they can't spin the wheel fast enough with their hands. They're car's suspension is set up to break traction and quickly transition into a controlled slide. It's probably not the best idea when your trying to make the fastest and smoothest line around a race track. :)

  • why he turn on the lamp at 0:16?

  • yuppppppppppppp FUCKKKKKKK

  • tricky corner in forza , but ive never chashed :P

  • @yxxxpepexxxy This isn't Forza, this is real life.

  • Hahaha just all the BMWS drive by ! hehehee

  • HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA M3 didn't have a problem with that turn

  • @xtsxbigworm Hmm, car has nothing to do with this. NSX is a great handling car however the driver gas it way to early.

Should have waited til he hit the apex and slowly gas out letting the car straighten it self.

  • a) he apexed too early

    b) when you get off the track DON'T TRY TO SAVE THE CAR!!! Go straight, hit the brakes, get back on the track when it's safe and then get your ass chewed by the Race Steward - still better than crashing or totaling the car

    c) over-corrected when he tried to safe the car, at this point it was all over

For all of us who have track experience: I think we all have been there, and it's hard to force you to go completely off the track and to fight the instinct to save the car.

  • Agreed.

  • Regardless of what the instructor(?) was saying the student blew it here. - 1 he should have started unwinding the wheel much sooner, and 2 much faster and 3 much much faster once he was that late.

If he was looking further ahead, and had faster hands, andd stayed in the gas in that Tail-happy NSX, he might have saved it.

Slow hands equals totaled aluminum body NSX.

  • Put in first gear, turn the whel, watch the road.

  • lol the tire barrier was in the wrong place! did you see, missed by a lil bit!

  • Turned in too early...

  • "Faster, faster"... should have shut up!!!!!

  • Faster, faster!!!! bet he wont say that again.

  • Facepalm.

  • @Rawr454 no no no... EPIC Facepalm. Maybe even a "Helmetpalm". :-P

  • Eghh that wreck was tough to watch, it could have been soo easily prevented by letting the car run its course off to the right.

  • I have no idea why, maybe it's because they are so layed back and "woosa", but Asians can't drive for s@&t. I live in Gwinnett Co., Ga, home of the worlds richest asians. Whether its the teens in their 350s and s2000's or the moms in their frickin Oddesseys, everyday you see a couple asians on the side of the rode. They cant drive, at all. My friend crashed his new civic when he clipped a car in oncoming traffic. The f******n moms drivin the passports dont look b4 they change lanes.

  • debatable

  • yeah... his hands were the worst part of that vid. plus the back end was out there for a good five seconds before he thought about countersteering.

  • It's not that bad, he's lucky he hit the side with the back of his car. I also crashed with my S2000. It was wet and I started sliding in a big turn and hit the side with my trunk, only some body damage.

  • except your engine isnt back there, his is.

  • the passenger said "faster" while on the turn. its his fault

  • That being said, if the passenger was actually the owner of the car, then that was just a bad idea. Never let anybody "race" your car. Especially if their track skills aren't up to par. Let them buy their own cars and have their own "trial and errors". Nothing wrong with it. You gotta learn somehow, but let them pay for their own cars. The ONLY time I was a passenger in my MR2 was when I sold it. It felt weird.

  • @SW20FL - the driver was the owner of the car

  • I've seen this a hundred times and it still makes me cringe. Great video!

  • Im suprised he didnt save it when he came back over the road towards that wall.

Seems like that speed was very reasonable to save the car but im not an NSX expert either

  • Power out of the turn, very simple... and the guy countersteered way too late

  • The instructor (I won't name names), has been instructing for quite awhile, and totaled his own NSX about a decade ago into turn 1 I believe at RA. He now races SCCA with a GT2 NSX. The instructor should have been restraining him at this skill level. Oh well water under the bridge. Turn 13 used to claim a lot of rookies, but the last 5 years it has been turns 6, 7, and 8 in this crash. We just ran the first event of 09, and a guy totaled a C5 into drivers left @ 6.

  • "fuck" hahahahaha

  • He didnt even hold the steering wheel propertly, how could he countersteer then.

  • Sorry to watch you crash, man. Road America is a track in which crashing is difficult due to the amount of runoff. Anyways, that was caused by an early apex and then dropping a wheel on the track out, that combined with input as you dropped the wheel = round-we-go-crash. Sorry about that, fix the car, race another day. PS...Invest on a racing school class.

  • Well it's quite obvious this guy is totally novice when it comes to advanced driving on the track. Too bad, but hopefully he woln't give up!

  • rofl @ co driver holdn his head

  • "..................fuck"

  • Very odd hand-positioning during the turn. Why was he holding the bottom of the steering wheel?

    That accident was totally avoidable.

  • his hand position was horrible but he couldve made that turn using that hand position. he shouldve unwound the wheel WAY earlier than he did. he just steered for too long. and it wouldnt have hurt him if he braked earlier.

  • nice...

  • should brake a little earlier for that corner, but dang i feel your pain man. i had just finished my project civic and i was proud of the darn thing. i was taking it out a week after i had called it finished and got run into by a big truck who ran a stop sign. i know, not a big deal compared to an nsx, but still lol. it blew weiner

  • lol

  • So much for your instructor...

  • Wow....this kind of stuff happens to everyone at sometime...but damn!

I hope he was ok and was able to take the shock of hitting an NSX

  • thats how i crashed in to the wall with my RSX. Totaled the dam thing, but i wasnt even foin fast. SHIT HAPPENDS

  • over speed

  • no, you never lift throttle in a mid engine/rear drive car mid apex like that, you just guarantee a spin by breaking traction on the wheel the car is most dependent upon for balance.... all braking/decel in a MR chassis should be upon entry of a turn, they are unforgiving of mistakes and do not throttle steer well- though they exit at full throttle nicely which is why the fastest series still use M/R, the most important turn is the one which exits into the longest straight portion.

  • So many ignorant dreamers & "know it alls" here... I suspect most with no ability to buy a fun car of any kind.....

All he's gotta do is fix or replace his car AND THEN......... replace his instructor.

Drive & race safely and learn grasshoppers!

  • @sunsetglen yeah everybody here is just a bunch of dreamers and kids that play Need For Speed and dream of being just like The Fast and The Furious. bunch of 15 year olds studying for their license exams, excited to drive mommy's Camry. so fucking stupid.

  • @SCHIZOPHRENlC The new mommy's Camrys are fast. Have you tried them yet, LMFAO?

  • Va la ranger dans son garage.

  • ooooooops!! :)

  • take gtivr6turbo please not this shit japenese.;)

  • it doesnt kill speed.

    firstly dain experience by PS2.

  • Z tego co tu oglądam o NSX-ach to wcale nie są takie przyjemne w prowadzeniu, jak to mówią fani Hondy

  • lol, say that to the gan san from best motoring...maybe he gonna slap you if you say that..i saw nsx giving some fun to ferraris and lamborghinis in a circuit...

  • ...fuck lol

  • is it me or does this video not want to load?

  • its you lol it loads fine for me

  • cheers, loaded fine now, and Shit! Would I be fucked off or what.. But I would have reacted differently in that situation although I may well have ended up smashing too.. Could happen to anyone at the end of the day..

  • lol ya its not that expensive compared to like a Lambo or Ferrari but still i would be pissed

  • is it me or does this video not want to load?

  • Hand positioning is just plain awful, he should have been instructed the basics first and foremost!

  • +1. I Totally agree, it's like he is cruising down main street.

  • I wonder why he holds the steering wheel like that?! That way you´ll never react quickly enough.

The damage is such a shame..

  • the nsx is a car who demands a lot to the driver, and when the driver belongs to the car, you can see what happens, just take a look about moboteru kurosawa aka GAN SAN in the best motoring series, that old man can really kick serious asses with a nsx, i saw how he kicked some lambos and ferraris asses with just a nsx-R

  • " ..." Haha

  • this is why rich people should stick to their automatic mercedez cars and stay off the track. keep drinking champaign and watch F1 on TV losers.

  • I think that was an automatic NSX, I certainly didn't hear any downshift before the turn.

  • No, it's a stick

  • @jedgq2 you didnt hear a down shift so that makes it an automatic? god, if there are more geniuses like you in this world the human race would end so much sooner.

  • @jedgq2 thats probably why he spun.. did'nt downshift..

  • Just before they get to the apex you can hear the instructor saying "FASTER FASTER".

  • ya he says punch it at the turn

  • I don't think he was saying "FASTER FASTER", I think he was saying, "FLOOR IT!!! FLOOR IT YOU LITTLE SISSY BOY! PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND TAKE THIS CORNER LIKE A MAN!!!"

  • And crash like a man

  • FACEPALM

  • The brakes faded as he was braking for that turn which caused him to come in to fast. He overshot the turn, got onto the dirt and the rear came loose.

  • and anyone who drives a much less expensive car.. i.e. MR2, is familiar with this nature.. it's a bummer piling up your car while learning how not to pile it up.. :P

  • So do any of the arm chair racers know why he crashed? I see lots of bashing but no analysis. It is pretty obvious.

This appears to be an instructor at a HPDE and he probably covers his face because he feels bad for the guy trying to learn.

  • Exactly. Arm chair racers is a good word. So he's not an expert, but trial and error is never a bad thing. You gotta learn somehow. Sometimes an accident is the best way.

  • If you know he's a beginner (hence why you have to point to the clipping points for him) then why would you let him start out in an NSX? I blame the instructor. They should have known better than to let him go out there in a car that is overpowered for his class.

  • It's probably his own car...

  • wow..textbook noob amateur driver ffs....

  • I love how the instructor covers his face :D I'd be ashamed too.

  • instructor?!?! he seems be the owner that let his friend take a "quick" lap.....lol

  • wow reactions like a snail. opisite lock was about 2 seconds to late lol

  • acuras kick ass

  • Amature "racers" should not ding up great cars like the NSX. If you can't drive buy a civic.

  • rofl

    what a shame
