what marek said, the RB30E is an older engine that only had 2 valves per cylinder, it was a SOHC engine (Single Overhead Camshaft). The RB26 is a newer, 2.6 litre engine with 4 valves per cylinder and it is DOHC ) Double Overhead Camshaft). So putting the RB26 head on the RB30 block gives you the benefit of having the larger displacement engine (3 litre of the RB30) with 4 valves per cylinder (RB26 head). instead of two valves.
Just out of curiosity, did you paint the cam angle sensor black to help radiate the heat away quicker? Installing an RB25 in mine and wanted to do the same...
