• Mmmm yum

  • my mom use brown sugar instead. it brings out a rich nice brown color to the rice

  • thank you for the recipes! i always wanted to make this myself. Today i got my 11 Year old daughter to help me this, its her first cooking lesson! you are right about the cream, i think it will taste nicer with the extra cream, i didnt make any because i forget to corn flour from the shop but there are enough rice left for tomorrow. I had it with ice cream like the way they sell it at the Thai restaurant

  • Wow its that simple? I will try this very soon. And about our commenter below "coffeeisnecessary", obviously she/he was not here to cook Thai food!!! Ugh, i tell u ppl these days..anyways, i love this food channel!!!!

  • No offence, but when I read "sweet and sticky" I automatically thought of semen, because semen is sweet and sticky as well.

  • @Coffeeisnecessary Lol ew

  • i am glad to have found this video. reading written directions left me with a lot of questions.

  • ต้องมะม่วงอกร่อง ไม่ก้อ น้ำตอกไม้เท่านั้น

it must be mango like "Okrong" or " Namdorkmai" only, it s more good smell and good sweet taste.

  • sweet sticky rice with durian is also delicious

  • มะม่วงที่อร่อย ต้องเป็นมะม่วง ไทย ครับ

  • i'm sooo proud of my self i made this and omg >.< SOOO GOOD but it fills you up fast

  • a little pinch of salt? at least 1 tsp or what? :D

  • @rebeccavue66

a pinch is hard to measure. Just a small amount between your fingers

  • no way is that 4-6 servings maybe like 10! looks so yummy tho! ^_^

  • Where did she get that container she's cooking the rice in? I want one like it. I saw the hole for steam to escape and it's shape made it easy to pour out the water without losing the rice grains. Awesome

  • @Megumichyan

I bought that container from Macy's years ago. I think they are discontinued now

  • I'm from the Philippines and the one they're cooking is very similar to our Biko( sweet sticky rice) and Suman Pilit ( sweet sticky rice rolled either on banana or coco leaves) but differs with how it is being prepared and the ingredients used . Rest assured , both Thai and Fil's version of Sticky rice are delicious !

  • @Haksaengnim

I'd love to try your Philippine version

  • Oh I love thai coconut rice. Gosh I'm drooling lol. Thank you

  • omg i hate you !!!!! now where can i get this sticky rice

  • this is an amazing desert.... and all you bitching about the microwave stfu get over it... it doesnt change the outcome just make it a different way ....

  • ขอบคูณค่ะ หนูจะหาวิธีง่ายๆเเบบนี้มานานเเล้ว

  • Im drooling over those beautiful mangos!. I could live on mangos, or mangos & sticky rice. lol. great video. Didnt know how to make that dish. Like to see the unripe mangos & dipping sauce too.

  • I live here in Thailand, Sweet rice and mango is my favorite! I also eat the green mango on it's own.

  • I have traveled to Bangkok many times and I love Thai food (Thai peole are really nice and friendly). From your cooking shows, I have tried to cook the "Beef Penang" & the "Basil fried rice". They bold turned out pretty good and yummy.

My husband loves the sticky rice with mangos. I will make it next time. Thanks.

  • I love Thai food. I cooked Tom Yum soup and Sticky Rice with mango yesterday, which were yummy. Thks for the video clips

  • thank you so much for this recipe :)

  • Has anyone ever doubled (or half again) the recipe? I wonder how much longer the rice would need to cook in the microwave?

  • @CynicalSim

If you do half recipe you can check the rice sooner to see if it's ready

If you double the recipe do the same thing. Check to see if you need to cook the rice longer

  • I like that girl, she's hot!

  • wow i've never cooked anything in the microwave for 10 mins! that's a long time

  • @azndoubleb

We say in the video that our microwave takes 3 minutes to boil a cup of water so adjust your microwave time accordingly.

  • all the coconut milk i find is solidified in the can....yours is coming out like actual milk what gives?

  • OMG I made that today !! It was heaven!!! There is a Thai Restaurant here in Canada and I always ask for the sticky rice cuz I love it and when I made it , it was the exact same flavor THANKS A LOT!!

  • This is not a true Thai sticky rice and mango dish. I'm Thai and we dont cook it in the microwave. Even the mangos are not the right ones.

  • @hotdesign1

Where do you live? We live in the US and we don't have exactly the same thing you have in Thailand

  • hi how many cups of rice did u use in this seving it looks like alot please help thanks..

  • @onebadharleyevo

Go to thaifoodtonightDOTcom and click on the "recipe" link. You'll find all the ingredients, amounts and cooking instructions there.

  • mmmmmm

  • If I use the black sticky rice, will this recipe work too?

  • @nancyweeal

It is difficult to cook black sticky rice so it might not work in the microwave

  • i think i would go good with sticky rice.

  • I just made one today and it's a success. Thanks for uploading this video. :)

  • I think the best is just plain sliced mango on sticky rice.

  • If you are in the military and can shp in the commisaries on the posts.. they have a huge selection of ethnic foods including Glurenous rice and coconut milk and coconut creme already preppared -- so u can skip the last step and just heat the coconut creme and pour over the rice and mangos... YUMMY!!

  • Dont belive she forgot greenbean crisp on topping.

  • @ddayblue

I didn't forget but it would make it more difficult for non Thais and might be hard to find the greenbeans too

  • It tastes so awesome XD

  • The daughter is sweet but a little bit of an airhead. . .nevertheless, I love their videos, I think they are great and really helpful. They had a Panang beef recipe vid that I can't wait to try!

  • can i use sweet rice flour instead of cornstarch?

  • @LiLVietWithLove

You can use tapioca flour instead

  • That looks sooooo good.

  • the pot and jug looks so cutee^w^ i just luv it

  • is this dessert, or you can eat this as a side dish? what can you eat it with? meat, fish?

  • @nanofeliz

this is a dessert. a lot of people do like it with coffee in the morning

  • I made this. after 10 minutes, the rice was perfect. I recommend not pouring all of the coconut mixture with the rice, just what you need. I left about 1/3 cup out. As for the sauce. it came out too salty. I didn't like it. We just ate the rice the way it was with the coconut mixture and left out the sauce. In the Thai restaurants we've been to, they don't use the sauce either so it really doesn't need it. the rice could probably use less sugar too. Next time I'll use 3/.4 sugar.

  • @weavervillage

Do whatever you like best. This is the what I grew up with and can't live without the sauce

  • Nice presentation with mom & daughter. Kathy helps to demystify and add details. Thanks! Would love to see this as a TV show!

  • cant wait to try this! i looks really simple and now i have more to add to my grocery list when i goto the asian market :)

    thanks!

  • she's using the cutco petite carver to cut the mango in this, great knife!!

  • AHHHHHHHHHH I LOOOOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEEEEE STICKY RICE WITH MANGO OMG *LICKS COMPUTER SCREEN*

  • This is my absolute favourite dessert........anywhere......phom lak mak mak.....mmmmm

  • cold waaaaaaterrr...... i love the way the mom speaks... CUTEST tone ever!

  • i will start cooking this sometime in the summer.

  • This worked perfectly! Thanks for sharing this recipe with us!

  • Miss, could you please quiet down and let your mom talk? Her English is fine.

  • omg, i love thai food.

  • Great video, thanks so much! I noticed your mom's hands at one point, her fingers curve back like a Thai dancer's... she's so elegant and precise in all her moves. You're both charming :)

  • the american accent on the woman on the right really grates on my ears - couldn't they have found someone with a more pleasant voice ?

  • Yummyyy Thai cuisine.. I loved it since I first ate it.. =D

  • i´m from thailan :3

    luv that^^

  • why dont use the pot and that basket looking thing to cook sticky rice? thats traditional :D

  • @nuke1989

Not everyone outside of Thailand has a basket steamer. I developed an easy way that everyone can use to cook the rice and enjoy this dish. The basket steamer also is more difficult because you have to soak the rice overnight before steaming it. Plus you have to keep your eye on the steamer while you are cooking the rice. You can't just set the timer like on a microwave

  • I can't belived we can cook stricky rice in the microwave, such a good idea very smart thanks.

  • arroy mak khraap!!!!

  • I like to eat very day at home so yum xD

  • do you HAVE to use that cream sauce on top...? it's too coconutty for me, but the rice is still sweet without it, right?

  • @steffspms

Yes. Serve it with or without the cream sauce. I like it with the sauce but you may prefer to eat it without

  • I absolutely love this dish!

I still have a problem with cups though, I wish it were in gram.

  • mmm.... i want to try this.... :)

  • Real Sweet Sticky Rice 's hard to cook

    the original method 's steaming

  • @Thanmay7

I agree. that's why I developed the microwave cooking method

  • this is cool... i been searching on how to cook sticky rice that doesnt need to use steamer coz i dont have one...finaly i found your viseo i will definitly try this as soon as possible...this loks awesome....thanks to both of you....

  • 一番おいしいタイ料理、タイの魅力です

  • 私は多くのタイ愛国文化が大好きです

  • you can cook the rice in the oven if you dont want to use the microwave.

  • @RandolfLedesma

This recipe calls for rice that is steamed...not baked.

  • cool i didnt know you can cook rice in the microwave. so is that kow niew?

  • i didn't know that u could cook rice in a microwave....wow, i learned something new each day

  • Thanks so much for this video. I now know how to cook sticky rice in the microwave. I first savored this dessert, Khao neow ma muang, in Bangkok in 1987 and it has remained my favorite since then. And now I can have it anytime I want, even here in the USA. Thanks a lot.

  • hi all i have a question, what is it that she adds on the pot beside the salt sugar and other half of tha can or coconut milk?

  • @sorprsa4u

For all the ingredients, measurements and cooking instructions for this dish (and over 30 other thai dishes) you visit my website at THAIFOODTONIGHTdotCOM.

  • my friend made this for me one day, this stuff is good as hell!!! i loved it

  • I like it so much.

  • I remember now, in the Philippines, yellow (ripe mangoes) could be paired with "suman", a sticky (glutinous) rice cooked in the same way but wrapped in coconut leaves.

  • Sweet Rice with mango and flowers. Joke. Looks yummy. In the Philippines, we used to eat sticky rice cooked in coconut milk and sweetened but I never heard that you can pair it with yellow mangoes. We have the best mango too. I like Thailand and Thais are good people.

  • it is at it's best with yellow mango - divine

  • I've followed this recipe a handful of times now and can vouch for how perfect it is. It also translates well to a half quantity. Microwaving the rice is GREAT, easy, clean and foolproof. Thanks so much!

  • i love thai food but its rare to find pure thai restaurants here in saudi arabia .. most of them are owned by chinese/filipino chefs

  • I cooked this today and it was excellent. The microwave method for the rice was PERFECT and so easy! I found that the amount of rice sauce was a bit overwhelming so next time I'll just pour most of it in instead of the full amount. If you've never had this dish you just HAVE to try it. It's heaven!

  • OMG .I try to cook sweet rice in the microwave and it come out soooo good. It amazing ,I love sweet rice, but never know how to cook it right. This is it,I will tell all my friend about it.Thankyou soooo much lady.Oh,I top it with some sesame seed, yummy.

  • where did you buy the cooking pot or whatever you call it? hehehe. very nice!

  • I had that yesterday. It was delicious!

  • I just made this dish, its really good and very easy! I just didnt get the mangoes cut perfect like that, so I mixed them in. It tastes really good.

  • Thank you so much I love this dish and it's so nice to know that I can make it at home!

  • O.M.G. those mangoes sure look extremely sweet...... I miss savouring mango sticky rice! :'(

  • iI recommend everyone to try it becuase it's really delicouse

  • Those two do Youtube Justice! I'm thinking about getting rid of my TV because of all the cool stuff on Youtube!

  • That looks so good!!! can u make this dish with regular rice or has to be the sticky one???? and the coconut milk that u guys put in the rice before cooked it had sugar on it!???

  • this is my fav dessert ever and now I know how to make it. YAY!!!

  • i didnt know something traditional used a microwave.

  • You can do it the old fashioned way...in a steamer

  • @egeefay --- That's how I do it, on the stove. I don't trust microwaves or rice makers for preparing rice.

  • @PutTheBookDown1 Unless you grow, harvest, and process your own rice, coconuts, mangoes and sugarcane, you have no room to walk. So get a life, you pathetic loser.

This recipe looks absolutely delicious. Thank you , ladies!

  • @PutTheBookDown1 I think it is an easier alternative than using a steamer.

  • in our culture mango is best eaten with "bagoong".. yummy!!!

nice show, makes me want to try cooking thai dishes.

  • I already tried to cook sticky rice by using microwave yesterday. It was fantastic! quick and great :)

  • Mangoes are awesome. When I was in the Dominican Republic, there were mango trees everywhere, and my god, there's nothing like a mango fresh from the tree.

  • can i use regular milk instead of coconut milk?

  • @rorygilmore222 it wouldn t be that good

  • I remember having this as a child. But we use golden Manila mangos which you can get from Filipino grocery stores in the states.

  • Amm yummy , Look great , I can smell the coconut milk and sweet rice already :-) .

  • i wonder if i can use calrose rice for this?

  • had this every morning while i was in thailand. Wish we had good mangos in california :(

  • The two of them are very sweet together. That looks delicious. I will give it a try!!

  • if you use sweet rice,to make sticky rice, its comes out much more better. The grain is a lot larger and in my opinion sweet rice is better over all.

  • where do you find sweet rice?

  • Any asian supermarket will have it

  • Im Thai & I always wonder how to make this dish and now I surprise how easy is that!!!! I can't wait to make my own. Thank you)))

  • that pot is cute!

  • Can I use regular white grain rice?

  • No b/c it will not stick. Asian people usually call it "sticky rice", but the rice bags will say "sweet rice". I don't know why b/c it's not sweet.

  • Vietnamease people use sticky rice to make sweet rice cake.

  • oh wow, I never knew that. I'll have to look for sweet rice then. Good that I saw your comment.

  • Yummy, I love sweet Thai food....thank you so much for postinng this.....

  • ืno you cann't.

    Sticky rice is better.

  • I love sticky rice. never cooked it in the microwave, i always steam it, it`s great if you don't like using a microwave. But I want to try it, it looks faster. also it's great to know how to pick a ripe mango.

  • ♥ sticky rice!!! :D

  • You and your mom are great! Very helpful and I just adore this dessert.

  • the mom = total pro.......the girl is just there..lol...but i like her though! without her the mom would just do everything in her serious way......the girl makes it fun and the mom cooks...great team!

  • Wow! Such a great help! I cant wait to try the recipes!

  • pa-da-pa-pa-paaa,

    i'm lovinn it

    :]

  • hahahaha this is brilliant.

  • Many types mangoes ..one of commonest in Thailand is green skinned ( even when ripe )..tastes heavenly..

  • right, i may explain it further if you decide to buy them from the market.

the most appropriate kinds of mangoes with this dessert should be one of these:

"Oak-Rong" this should be what you referred that is still green when riped, smell great, quite fat shape, naturally sweet.

"Nam Dok Mai" slender shape, totally golden-yellow when riped, perfectly sweet.

"Keaw Saway" edible in both unriped or riped. dark green, large and might be the most famous in thailand.

  • yummeehhh . meh grandma knows how to make "] cuz shes thai :D lols

  • Komp Khun Krup.... thank you!!!!

    Phoenix, Arizona

  • Thank you for the video. It's so cool to find a convenient way to cook the rice! (It's so nice to NOT have to buy every single type of utensil in the world - and it being shortcut, too!) U rock

  • i luv the mum! so cool

  • Awesome. You guys rock. Gang som next, please.

  • thank you so much for this video

  • any tips on how long this will keep, storage and reheating?

  • I'm so thrilled to be eating my favorite thai dessert in the comfort of my own home! I'll never pay full price again! I ended up using ataulfo mangoes which are very sweet and tender. I also need to play with the measurements, as this currently makes A LOT!

  • ya another good serving idea is to cut the mango in half like a bowl and dump the rice in it.

  • อร่อย..แต่ระวังกินเยอะจะอ้วนนะจ๊ะ
